Perfect for my Mother's 2013 Taurus SEL

Works great! My mother purchased a used car assuming it would have a backup camera. I was surprised that a 2013 Taurus SEL did not have one! This works great, picture is clear (although not as clear as those new fully electronic rear view mirrors that are coming from the factory on certain "expensive" cars now.

I bought this so my 16 year old daughter could have a back-up camera on her 'beater' 2005 Honda Accord. THE VIEW...For those wondering, when you are not in reverse, the digital image on the left of the mirror goes away and appears to function like a normal mirror. THE INSTALLATION...Difficulty level 2.5/5. There are several videos online showing basic installation. You may need to research some other videos specific to your vehicle to know how to remove some basic parts (like some of the moldings around your vehicle). ADVICE...Unless it's really easy to solder the camera wires to your reverse tail light wires, plan on picking up a wire splicing kit online (for less than $10). It will make the job go much easier. Also, unless you have an open slot in your fuse box for an item that isn't always powered by your battery when the key is not in the ignition (like a heated seat or radio), pick up a circuit fuse tap adapter (online) so you can easily tap into one of those power sources. Just watch a video, or two so you make sure you don't install it backwards. Lastly, if you use a tap adapter and/or wire splicing kit, make sure to get a wire connector crimp tool. Basic ones are less than $10 (you don't need the best thing out there for this basic job).

For the price and installation cost, this is a good value. I bought it online after reading the reviews. I had it installed at the local Best Buy. The installer at Best Buy did a really professional installation. It would have been nicer to have one of the big screen units, but it would have looked like an add-on. With this in the mirror it looks as if installed at the factory. The screen has a good picture. Lighting is really good at night and when not in direct sun. I will be having another one installed on my truck.

The camera quality is excellent. Night pictures are exceptionally clear. However the camera picture in the rear view mirror is confusing on bright and sunny days since the bright rear view image overpowers the camera image. Need to be extra careful in backing up on such bright days.

This is my second purchase of the Echomaster backupcamera. Works great. The rear view mirror looks OEM. Installation instructions are a little vague but if you have any experience then installation will be a breeze. First install on my Tundra took a while and ending up using a relay. Second install on my Accord was a breeze. Did not need to use a relay on it. Highly recommended. Spent 500+ on the OEM backup camera for my Jeep. Would have rather installed this one on it.

I purchased this backup camera & monitor to add to a 2016 Journey I owned. It is a solid system, with an excellent picture. Unfortunately, having it installed would have disabled other features of the Uconnect system of car. Great product, just make sure it will work with your vehicle without disabling other feature.

My wife’s 2018 Toyota CHR has a great backup camera; my 2008 4Runner had none. With several toddler grandkids, I wanted this as a safety issue. Installation went well, however there is a switch in the wiring harness that controls whether you get a camera view or a “mirror” view. I had to take the liner of the tailgate apart, switch it over to “mirror” and re-assemble it. That took about 10 minutes on my vehicle. However, be warned- the owner’s manual is 99% worthless. I found the information online. The camera is adjustable for angle “height.” The picture is clear, especially in daytime or if the object behind you is lit by the backup lights. At night, if nothing reflects the backup lights, the picture is not as good as my wife’s OEM camera. AN ADDED BONUS: Wow, is it easy now to line up a trailer to my hitch. That alone would be worth more than the cost!!

The install was done by best buy technician who was awesome. The camera needed adjusting to flip the view because it was reversed as the default setting. Other than that clear picture and it self adjusts brightness. It allows you to use the mirrors in conjunction with the camera seamlessly. Gtreat product and great install.

After trying a few of the cheaper options available from other vendors I gave up. Then I saw this in my local BB store. The reviews are decent so I decided to give it a shot. The installation will vary from vehicle to vehicle. I drive an RX8 and I spent about an hour installing.it's easy enough to not pay the extra for professional install. But if you are not technically savvy I would recommend having it installed by a pro. The end result is a descreet camera above the rear license plate and an OEM-looking rear view mirror. The 4.3-inch display is invisible until the vehicle is shifted into reverse. At that point it is bright and clear. The camera is very capable in low light and the display automatically dims to avoid blinding you. My only (minor) complaint is that the camera could be a little wider angled. All in all I am very happy with this system.

Rear view mirror seems to function properly, very easy to put that on windshield & get video screen wire to header console and headliner. Picture looks good and bright. Remainder of installation instructions were esentually non-existent. It took a lot of time to run the wiring through the remainder of the Van. But it was easy to connect the system to back-up lights. But again, difficult to get wires to camera - but finally managed it. As I have not done installs like this much, next time I would have it installed by Best Buy. I am very glad for You Tube videos.(This review is less than two weeks out.) I believe the system will do what I got it for and that is as assist in seeing oncoming cars, etc. when backing out of parking spaces with large SUV's, pick-ups, etc. blocking the view. Also, view could be a little more wide angle.

I bought this for my wife's car and she likes it. It is a very clean install it looks like factory mirror. I have a white Honda Accord and the camrea only comes in black. Please be aware that the leat right lines may be (are) narrower than the car width and there is no adjustment. As much as my install was done well by The Geek Squad, and my license plate is in the center of the vehicle, I use a parking space determine the accuracy. What looked like I had backed up dead center in a tight parking space I was in fact 10 inches to the left. The lines that show on the camera cannot be adjusted left or right. Best Buy was willing to allow me to return the item which I really did appreciate. After careful consideration and most importantly feedback from my wife I have decided to keep it. Please be aware that's accuracy is probably about 96% and if you completely rely on what you see in the viewer there's a very good chance that you would damage your vehicle. There are other wireless backup cameras out there that is are significantly less expensive. Please be aware that the online Geek Squad price for install does not include the wiring package. I'm considering installing a backup camera on another vehicle and at this point I will not purchase this same one but instead a wireless camera which as I understand have other trade-offs for example the mirror clips on over the existing mirror which may not give as much with factory look and there's the potential for Jitters in the camera. Because of the savingsI of no uninstall or additional wiring my calculations put the final cost is almost half of this very same camera. Mixed feelings my wife likes it it works well enough for her but it is relatively very expensive. I really do hope this helps. Best Buy Geek Squad are just phenomenal!

    Perfect retrofit for old car

I bought this for an old car that lacks a digital stereo, and I had it installed for free with Total Tech Support. It works perfectly and I'm very happy with it. When I shift gears to reverse, the mirror display takes 1-2 seconds to turn on, and has a wide viewing angle; when I shift gears to drive, the mirror display immediately turns off. The mirror itself is perhaps somewhat darker than my original mirror, consistent with other online reviews, but this doesn't affect the functionality at all. I'm also very happy that I don't have another screen blocking my view when driving. The camera itself was installed on top of my license plate and has held up in severe rain, wind, and heat. Overall this mirror is a little pricey but definitely worth it for an old car that I'm not willing to replace yet. In fact, my wife and I bought another one for her old car, too. Note: please check your original rearview mirror and see how it's attached. If it's stuck onto the windshield itself, that's perfect. If it's attached to the roof, your car may not be compatible.

After shoping around online and at different retailers for a back up camera unit decided on this mirror. So glad I did works well and looks like a nice upgrade. I also saved quite a bit compared to getting the indash unit. I also had it installed by geek squad. The whole experience was great.

Once you have a car with one, it is hard to live without. This works pretty well and wasn't that difficult to install. I did it myself but was pretty basic considering it was for a Jeep. Not a bad price either and the look and feel of the mirror is pretty cool.

Camera works day and night and has a wide view angle. This was a very clean install and the replacement rear view mirror looks like the original. I had the unit installed by Best Buy and the guy that did it was very professional. There are no exposed wires on my Subaru 2013 Legacy.

Adding a Safety feature to my daughters older car

Bought this to go in my daughters 2011 Honda insight. That must have been one of the last models before they started installing back up camera as a standard. Had the Geek Squad install it and they were not super sure this model would work with her car as it is not a listed option for that model. Mirror is pretty heavy and it fell off the windshield almost immediately after it was installed. That had warned us that that might happen. Her windshield had a crack in it anyway, so we just decided to replace the windshield and have a professional attached the mirror to her car. No more problems after that. Works great and she is much more confident when driving. Much cheaper than trying to update her car to a model that had the backup camera built in.
