The only thing I've found that could be considered a "con" is the lack of a local network socket. In other words, if you lose internet access, you lose the ability to access your thermostat via the apps. It also means a higher data usage for accessing it via your phone. However, that is truly the only downside I've found.

After a lot of research, I chose the ecobee because of it's compatibility with both HomeKit and SmartThings along with the remote sensor feature and I have not been disappointed.

I did some research and some comparison between this one and The Nest and this one blew The Nest out of the water ... definitely recommend it if you want the latest Smart Thermostat .

Works great but did not get a return phone call when I contacted the manufacturer technical support. The installation instructions do not take you through set up and there were some questions that I was uncertain about with regard to my system. I had to contact someone in HVAC business to get the answers.

Great item, though I believe i get some false positives on humidity and temperature from the remote sensors. Also, the sensors could be a little more sensitive. I find that if I am sitting at my desk typing, it will not know that I am there from 8 ft away, though my arms and hands are moving here and there.

Makes monitoring furnace and temps a breeze even when away from home or on different floors of the house. The smartphone app is extremely simple and setup was easy as well.

We wanted a smart thermostat, so we landed on the Nest due to its integration with SmartThings. After having it for a few months, we couldn't be happier with its performance.

The product does exactly what it says it will do. Installation was a little longer than anticipated, but support on the phone was knowledgable and walked me through installation.

I use two of these in my house. I like the remote sensor because it helps keep our kitchen the right temp. Works with Siri, google home and home kit.

I got this system to monitor my home while I am away for the day. It does a good job when ever you want to check on things where ever you are. It does need a WiFi connection.

This product is such an improvement from the standard 1980 technologies that most thermostats still are using. The additional room sensors are a must to capitalize the benefits.

This is a great thermostat. My only advice is for heat pump users. Make sure you know the settings for your heat pump as the instructions are not as clear as they could be.

Works with no problems. The installation was pretty straight forward. The app answered every question i had. The sensor has never disconnected and the app works smooth

Gives great control over hvac system -- auto program works well and intelligent setback/activation make house more comfortable when we're home & saves energy when we're gone

The ecobee 3 is so simple to use and with Alexa integration, makes it the best thermostat our there. I know a lot of people like Nest but Ecobee really is built to last

This product works great. Not only does it function as its stated thermostat purpose, but you can also use it's built in sensors with Apple HomeKit for ITTT functions.

I had a Nest prior to this and it had troubles balancing the temperatures for the upstairs and downstairs rooms. The upstairs was always hot and the downstairs was always cold. Using the ecobee3 with three remote sensors placed around the house keeps the temperature balanced at all hours of the time.

We have a two level house and this work liked a charm on the second floor that got it for downstairs too. Hopefully it translates the same in electricity bills :)

Ecobee's technical representative provided step by step instructions for connecting the unit using pictures. They saved a lot of time in setting up the thermostat.

I love my Ecobee, love the way it performs, the savings and the customization options. Happy i went with it instead of the Nest. The installation is not for the faint of heart though. If you dont have the C-wire, you have to install the included auxiliary power which connects to the hvac mainboard.
