I've had this product for a few months now, and it's been a fantastic addition to the house. Installation was pretty straightforward, and took me less than an hour to get it working. On a negative side, it took some time for the device to allow me to register it. I was getting errors, and the customer support was closed (I did try installing it in the evening on a Sunday). It did somehow work a few hours later, but overall affected the OOE.

I've got a 2 story house and this device let's me choose which rooms I want to monitor, at what time, and what temp I want. Ecobee does a great job of keeping the upstairs/downstairs warm when I want it to, without cooking the rest of the rooms in the house.

So far the Ecobee3 has worked as promised. Had a little difficulty installing the device as all I got was a clicking sound. The only way I could figure out why was to 'google' my question. The Ecobee Troubleshooting guide was not helpful but googling my question I found my answer. I needed to hooked up the power wire to the furnace and was in business. My wife travels and when she does not she works from home it is nice to be able to adjust the temps via the app on our phone. We will also get a $50 rebate from our energy company, bonus! So total paid is $149.99,

I had a Nest thermostat installed, but because the Nest was in a different room from our family room, it went into "Away" mode or we had to disable the money saving feature of auto-away. The Ecobee3 has a remote sensor that you can place in any number of rooms which solves the problem of not being in the same room as the thermostat. It is a great feature for an innovative thermostat. Also, the customer support is outstanding the installation was fast and easy! The Ecobbe3 App works great to give you control of your heating and cooling needs from your iPhone, iPad and/or AppleWatch!

Love my new Ecobee3 thermostat. It was very easy to install and set up. I am enjoying the ability to control the thermostat through my smart phone. With the $100 energy rebate that was available at the time, how can you go wrong with this purchase!!

We have a very long house with 2 AC units and this has worked wonderfully! Bedrooms are on one side of the house while the living room is on the other end and both are set to comfortable temps using the remote sensors. It really is a great investment!

I love both of my Ecobee3s. I installed the first one in Dec 2015, and added a second one in Nov 2016. My house has 2 separate forced-hot-air furnaces w/AC (mainfloor and upstairs/bedroom). My mainfloor had always been plagued by a thermostat installed in a poor location: a room with a cathedral ceiling that gets lots of afternoon sunlight. The result was the rest of the main floor was always cold in the summer and warm in the winter, as the thermostat was measuring the wrong room for the current conditions. The Ecobee3 I installed a year ago fixed all that. It's remote sensors allow me to to control what the thermostat measures to correctly determine the "current" temperature. In fact, I can tell it to ignore the reading at the thermostat itself and only use the remote sensors. I started with the 3 pack of sensors, and later added 2 more, for a total of 5 remote sensors. This has meant the great hall is no longer controlling the comfort for the kitchen and family room, and that's the best outcome I could have hoped for. Installing the Ecobee3 was simple. Because my house dates to the 80s, it only had 4 wires to the thermostat. Since the Ecobee3 requires a "C" wire, I needed to use the included power-extension-kit (PEK) to install the thermostat. It ended up being very easy, both with the included instructions (and with the diagrams on their support site). I recently installed a second Ecobee3 for the upstairs furnace. Once nice feature of having both thermostats the same is that they will share certain features (if you want). For me, it means I set one of them to vacation mode and both will follow the vacation settings. Remote control of the Ecobee3 is simple both through their website and their app. Both have an interface that very closely mimics the interface on the thermostat itself, making all three simple and easy to use. I have my Ecobee3 integrated with SmartThings, Amazon Echo, and IFTTT. The cost of my Ecobee3 was reduced by a $100 rebate from my electric utility, National Grid. One further benefit is their Connected Solutions program (with Weatherbug), which paid an extra $25 per Ecobee3 I registered with the program.

I have tried every brand out there but Ecobee has won me over as a customer forever. They are taking over the thermostat market and with good reason! Amazing innovative technology. I have had my ecobee 3 for some time now and every morning when i walk past it i still love it. Ecobee 3 was so easy to install I was surprised. Not to mention 24 hour support and some of the best support I have seen from a company on twitter. You can tell they take pride and are confident in their product. Try it out for yourself and you will see savings $$ on energy and you will get to experience state of the art technology. I am one happy customer thanks ecobee.

The ecobee3 is by far the most advanced smart thermostat available. The ecobee3 leverages more advanced programmability than the nest and takes advantage of data from remote sensors that detect motion and temperature in the rooms thoughout your house. These features work well as advertised. The HomeKit compatibility ensures that you won't regret this purchase down the road if you are interested in more comprehensive home automation and are an iOS user. The biggest downside is the lackluster app which is buggy and feels like an unpolished web app. However, I find that once you get the ecobee3 setup, you won't need to adjust it much.. Automatic savings and comfort! The other downside is the build quality and screen resolution. The plastic back plate is flimsy and easy to snap. The Nest wins the battle there with much harder plastic and strong materials such as the metallic band. The ecobee just feels lighter and cheaper in your hands when setting it up. The LCD screen could use a ppi upgrade. I wish the brightness could be increased more for readability. Also, the black color of the LCD does not blend with the hardware as shown in some renderings. A better display with darker blacks would fix this (the apple watch is a great example of this). But for the most important aspects of a smart thermostat, the ecobee takes the prize as the best out there.

The ecobee 3 was very easy to install, especially if you have the extra wire already coming from your wall. Everything works great and I love that it has an extra sensor included (you can purchase more if you'd like) which work great if you have a multi floor home to make sure you get the temperature reading for each floor/room. You can use the individual temperatures or the average of them all (or just some) to control what the ecobee 3 does. Would recommend to anyone looking at smart thermostats.

I had been looking for a thermostat that would allow me to use remote sensors and this is it. It controls for the rooms you are in. Saving energy and making your house more comfortable. Easy to install and good looking.

Work as stated and love the user interface compare to the others. Plus there is sensors which you don't get with other smart thermostat so whatever temperature you set for that room it will go by the sensor in that room.

What a great thermostat. The remote sensor gives you great flexibility. My thermostat is near my media center and the heat from my TV and components plays havoc with the temperature. This allows me to place the sensor at the optimal spot! You can choose to average the temperatures or just choose the sensor temperature for the thermostat to factor. I had a different brand with a remote sensor and you needed a rocket science degree to make it work. Ecobee makes it so simple! Even with the simplicity built in, you have many user options - you can make things as automatic as you want or control it as much as you want! I love the interface and when you walk up to it - it senses your presence and changes and allows you to tap on the weather as well as other menu items. Well thought out - I never thought I would be excited about a thermostat before - LOL. Also works with Amazon Echo and Apple Homekit - integrates really nicely except for one complaint. I've set the thermostat so if I override the temperature, it will automatically revert back to the programmed schedule at the next scheduled time. This works great if you change the temperature on the thermostat itself, on the app or the webpage. However if you change it via Alexa or Siri - it holds the temperature change indefinitely. You have to remember to go to the thermostat or your app and release the hold. That's really the only flaw I see with this product. I called support and they say it's a current limitation with the Alexa and Siri API's. Quite frankly I don't buy that. I'm in IT and they can certainly set a default. Ecobee's default setting is an indefinite hold. I find that odd for a device that is supposed to manage your energy better. With that said, they did indicate they are working on it. Still gets 5 stars because this is just a little nit and I just love this device!!!

In comparing the different smart thermostats on the market, we went with the Ecobee3 and we couldn't be happier. It allows us to manage the temperature throughout the house remotely. It's incredible, and we love it!

I have 2 of these in my home. The remote sensors and follow me features make this product one of the favorite smart thermostats I have used. The house is at the temp I want when I want without wasted electricity!

Best thermostat on the market. Killer feature being the remote sensors you can scatter throughout your home (can have up to 32 total). Can even set these up to monitor unconditioned spaces (have to set up the thermostat to ignore their data, otherwise it'll cost you). Only encountered 1 problem so far with one incorrectly assembled remote. This SNAFU was actually acknowledged by the company, which seems to indicate they stand by their products. Problem was solved in 30 seconds, for which you can find instructions on how to fix it all over the internet (including ecobee's website). Highly recommend this thermostat, especially if you're interested in a HomeKit-enabled thermostat, as the Nest most likely will never incorporate.

I bought Ecobee3 (Homekit enabled) and have been using this for almost a month and happy with my decision to buy and install this. My home had a programmable thermostat which according to me was very difficult to understand and use. I almost hated it and there were rooms that used to be cold and some rooms more than warm. Read some reviews about ecobee3 and decided to take the plunge. I am not very good at DIY but read some instructions online, watched installation videos and read the manual too. We didnt have the C-Wire, so this Ecobee3 comes with an adapter. I had to attach this to the furnace and installed the thermostat. Probably it took around 45 minutes and was not so hard. Once installed, I downloaded the app and there are loads of options to program the desired temperatures. If we are not home, we can easily set the temperature using the app, so that when we are home, it is set to the desired and comfortable temperature. I have not yet seen much savings (barely a month till now) and I am pretty much sure that this will definitely save money in the long run. I am very happy to get rid of my old thermostat and we are happy to use Ecobee3. I highly recommend it. I will update my reviews if I faced any challenges. My reviews are totally honest and I was not given this product for free or for discount to write this review :)

We love using the remote sensors to keep our kid's room at the perfect temperature during nap and sleep times, and to keep the rest of the house comfortable when they are not sleeping. Love this thermostat!

Great Thermostat! The wife was a little skeptical at first, but after having it for a month, she's glad we have it. Using the external sensors helps to keep the upstairs cooler in the evening by averaging the temperatures of the rooms being used thanks to the external sensors. Only downside is the downstairs rooms are a little cooler. Also being able to control via phones and tablets is very convenient when traveling so you don't return home to a hot/cold house.

Ecobee3 is easy to install (10 mins) and one you get the setting how you want them you don't have to worry about a thing. Adjusting the threshold can be tricky to get them set to optimal performance for your home. The website is also very easy to use and understand. After a full calendar month it will give you reports on your home efficiency.
