This is an excellent thermostat to conserve energy and properly manage the household environment.

I bought the ecobee3 thermostat as part of my whole home automation setup paired with Amazon Echo you take complete control of every room in your house. It was simple to install and setup and with Echo I can change the temperature in my house with just a few words.....fantastic!

The Ecobee3 was easy to install. Programming was easy. It is user friendly and it should save money in the long run. Features are nice, with local weather available at the touch and savings history easy to look up. I highly recommend it. Rebate from ComEd isn't bad either.

This thermostat is unique in that instead of just being an Internet-Connected single unit that adds programmability to your existing thermostat, it also allows you SOME zone programmability in that you get a second sensor with the product and you can buy additional sensors to add to the scenarios that fit your home life. I thought it was pretty neat that you can also use the auxiliary sensors as occupation sensors in their respective rooms/zones. My only real complaints (and one of these is simply a lack of tech yet) have to do with the usefulness of "zones"... First of all, You really can't create cooling/heating zones with this product since it would still require a multi-zone HVAC set up in your home to do so. I've heard of baffle/motorized vent products coming soon that hopefully these guys add to their arsenal that would make this perfect. Being able to concentrate cool/warm air to where it's needed would really add to the experience and efficiency. Also the sensors need to stay pretty close to the base unit to work... I only have a 2300sqft home and all of my sensors are near my central stairs upstairs which my main thermostat is behind downstairs. My master bedroom remote sensor falls off the grid ~once per day. If you have a dual mode system or a whole-house humidifier this can consolidate controls for all of those into one Ecobee system which seems promising for our future endeavors in HVAC and this is also fully supported by HomeKit which will make future-proofing and joint cross-vendor operations easier to set up aligned to Apple's ecosystem.

I really enjoy all of the extra information I can get from the Ecobee compared to any regular thermostat. The extra sensors are a nice touch to give me even further insight to how different the temperatures can be in various rooms of my house (I've setup 3 additional sensors), which is supporting my desire to install some zoning into my HVAC system and possibly consider altering the air return locations. I'm happy to have a high quality third party app available for it on Windows that is a Universal Windows Platform app, so it can install and use it on my Windows Phone, laptop, and Xbox One to control my thermostat in a multitude of ways, but it would still be nice to see Ecobee commit to the Windows platform. The IFTTT integration is nice as well, though I'm still figuring out how to write my own custom recipes to make it more useful for me.

It totally lives up to the hype. I've been using my e3 for just over a month, and it's great. I love being able to remotely control my thermostat and the smart home/away feature is great since our schedules vary day to day. Absolutely no complaints.

I was originally planning on getting the Nest until a coworker told me to check out the Ecobee3. It was still a smart thermostat with all the same capabilities but the added Sensor is what sold me. The concept is great and works even better. My wife and I just purchased a much larger home and having the sensor is really helping with monitoring the temps in the rooms where we are, not the hallway. Installation was pretty basic, but I did have to go into the attic and mess with the mainboard due to a mix up in the wires on the original installation. If you do any work with the AC units in the attic, please make sure to UNPLUG THE POWER FIRST!! Other then that, the installation was a breeze. The wall mount bracket has a built in level so it's very easy to make sure you get everything straight and set up was even easier!

This thermostat really has saved a good amount of money right off the bat. The thing that this product does that Nest doesn't do is take into account rooms that are occupied that are no where near the thermostat. I.e., a teenager's room. The additional sensors that you can purchase and configure is a great way to manage the home as a complete system. I placed sensors in the kids' rooms and it can effectively manage the temperature when they have a day off from school as well as manage it remote if you are out of the house unexpectedly. Very easy interface from your app. Installation was a bit tricky, but easier if you have some handyman skills. Nothing too hard. I was able to do it in 45 mins. The most time consuming part was to cover the hole that my previous thermostat was hiding. It was much larger than this.

I searched long and hard for a thermostat that would work in my home. My home, like many out there, has the thermostat tucked into a smaller and less-frequented place in the home. Because of that, the Nest just would not work. It constantly switched my settings to away even though I was home. Then came the Ecobee with its remote sensors. Problem SOLVED!!! I have consistently saved about 20% on my bill month over month and I have had this Ecobee for a little over a year. I recommend this product to friends all the time and almost all of my peers now have one. They continually thank me for the suggestion. I cannot recommend this thermostat enough. It is fantastic.

I was a loyal Nest user prior to buying my Ecobee thermostats. I recently moved into a new home that had a two zone system serving 4 floors (finished basement, main floor, upper floor and finished attic). One of the issues I had with the Nest was that it frequently went into away mode even when I was home and often left me overly hot or overly cold because my bedroom and the room the Nest was in were in different places. Knowing this I decided I needed a system with remote sensors in my new home. I settled on the Ecobee3 and haven't looked back. I did have an issue with one of my thermostats where the screen when blank (white screen) but ecobee was quick to get me a replacement unit and I haven't had any issues since. As a bonus of having remote sensors I've been able to better balance my hvac system.

I was fine with the way the heating and cooling worked in the apartment before my wife and I had our son. However, once we had a baby in the nursery and it was clear the thermostat in the living room was not really representative of the temperature of any of the other rooms in the apartment I wanted to look for other solutions. Ecobee3 seemed to have everything I wanted. A networked thermostat, remote sensors for other rooms, and the ability to control the heat based on a single sensor, say the Nursery room sensor, at night! It turned out to be the perfect solution. Plus, it keeps tabs on the humidity so I know when I need to have the humidifier running before touching someone sends a shock through me. Everything is adjustable from my phone, the web, or even from my Echo Dot!

After doing many weeks of research for a smart wi-fi thermostat to install in our two-storey home, I settled on the Ecobee for three specific reasons: - the remote sensors (they give the thermostat the ability to collect readings from everywhere in your house and therefore apply a more accurate heating and cooling scheme); - the overall esthetic (the main unit is very nice to look at but doesn’t stick out too much); - the company is Canadian (being Canadian, I naturally gravitate towards Canadian companies). The remote sensors were probably the most important factor when deciding which thermostat to purchase.

I hesitated for months on buying this. I watched videos and read reviews comparing this and Nest and I finally pulled the trigger on the ecobee due to the remote sensors, HomeKit compatibllity & better reviews. It was a great decision. Everything about the experience has been great. The install was incredibly easy and the instructions were extremely thorough. I love being able to ask Siri what the temperature is in my baby's room. And the fact that the sensors also provide humidity and motion detection through HomeKit is great. The user interface is slick and intuitive and the online tools are great too.

After much research on these and other thermostats, I chose the ecobee3 because you can use sensors throughout the house for different rooms. It looks good and performs great! I would recommend this thermostat to anyone!

Installed the thermostat a month ago and wouldnt do otherwise.

Looked at both Ecobee3 and Nest. I chose Ecobee3 because it has individual room sensors. I can set a bedtime temp using only the bedroom sensor. Very flexible. Works great and is even better using the Wink controller.
