Highly configurable. Addictive for any "tweaker". I think I have my settings down for summer. I enjoyed a very helpful support call that rectified an inflated temp reading. They told me how the panel can give off a bit of heat and how to adjust it to make it right on (compared to two other digital thermometers). This is a great unit for when you are away from home or want to remotely control using phone/tablet from another floor. I love it...

We bought this because of the remote sensors. The ecobee does a great job of cooling the whole house, since the sensors help average out the temperature throughout the house, instead of just one place like other thermostats.

The Ecobee 3 was very easy to install and instructions are clear, unlike many tech products. The app was also easy to install on my Android devices and works well. I especially like having the additional sensor to mount in the master bedroom, where the temps vary from the rest of the downstairs areas. It has updated the thermostat's software since AI purchased it, adding some good new features. I would highly recommend this product.

This ecobee was super easy to install. What sold me over the Nest was the ability to install remote sensors around the house. In addition to the savings, it's made our home much more comfortable. The app is easy to use and they've enabled several new features since I've started using it. Couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I enjoyed the Ecobee and all its features, my only problem was that i couldnt mount it properly on my wall due to the previous holes which made the screen to be upside down

My girlfriend wanted a smart thermostat for her birthday. So one day while she was gone I installed it for her as a surprise. The initial installation was kind of length because I had to add a specialty piece to the furnace (which did come with the ecobee3). Once it was up and running the rest of the installation went smoothly and it's been smooth ever since. I like that there is a feature on there which keeps track of when we need to change the filter. That helps us know so we don't lose track of when we last replaced it. Also, accessing it from our phones has helped us turn the furnace off while we work outside and open the doors, but leave the screen doors open. That way we aren't going back inside when we remember to kick it off. And the separate sensor is great. It kicks on when we wake up in the morning if we wake up before the scheduled time. So many benefits. The only negative is it doesn't work with the Harmony remote, yet. But I'm not sure that's even a negative.

I looked at the offerings from Nest, ecobee and Honeywell and found this to be the best choice over the Nest. The main difference is the Nest is strong on learning while the Ecobee3 sets comfort settings of Home, Sleep and Away. Pick a setting, start time and end time. The thermostat will hold those settings and time points or you can enable a smart setting that will override based on occupancy. For instance if set to away on a work day and you come home early, it will sense you are home and switch to the Home setting, or Froday night and its set Fore Home and you go out to dinner, it will sense you are away and switch to Away mode. The app is great and if you log on with a computer there is more data than the average user could hope for. Great choice albeit pricey.

Within 5 minutes of bringing this thermostat home I had it installed and running. Once it was connected to my wifi, it was easier to program from a computer (I'm 6' tall and the thermostat is only 4' off the ground). The reports they show already are amazing, just wish I knew what our old thermostat was doing so I could compare.

I bought this about 3 months ago to try it out downstairs and immediately fell in love with it's intuitiveness, so much so I bought a second one for upstairs. The thermostat works flawlessly, between the easy interface and the sensors that not only detect temperature, but also motion. If your in the market please look no further!

After reading several reviews and articles comparing thermostats, I ended up choosing the Ecobee 3. I added 2 extra remote sensors right away. The first unit I purchased lasted about 2 minutes before it locked up. Ecobee support was quick to diagnose the unit was defective. BestBuy exchanged it without issue. Came home and attached the new Ecobee to the mount. Setup takes about 3 minutes and I was done. I have a two-story house and placed two sensors upstairs in the bedrooms. The base unit itself is a sensor and the final remote sensor is located in the family room. I do have the smart features and follow-me enabled. The app for the iPhone works pretty well. I only wish it would update the occupied/unoccupied a little quicker. We had a hot July here in Milwaukee WI and I was surprised to see my gas/electric bill under $100. I expected it to be much higher considering the AC ran quite a bit while I was tweaking the settings/schedule. The latest update allows you to see the outside temp right on the main Ecobee screen. No need to have an outdoor thermometer anymore.

I researched the main various smart thermostats currently on the market. Lyrica, Honeywell, NEST, you name it I looked it up and researched it. The one I have always wanted was the NEST but reading some very negative reviews about the NEST led me another route. I found the EcoBee, never heard of it but started reading about it and the reviews were all great. I decided to take the plunge and I cannot believe how great this thermostat is. Installed downstairs without issue. Turned right on and went through the setup. Connected to wifi without issue and we were off and running. I do plan on buying a second ECoBee for our upstairs and using both the temperature sensors to decrease the temperature swings we experience upstairs. Definitely recommended if you're in the market for a smart thermostat!!

Read a ton of reviews for a number of "smart" thermostats before deciding on this one. Most so called "smart" thermostats allow you to setup a schedule and alter the temperature from your smart phone, but this one is really smart! Remote occupancy and temperature sensors allow the auto sensing "away" mode to work correctly as well as balance the temperature in your house. Seems to support virtually any configuration of heating and cooling system. Has a vast number of capabilities that allow you to view the history of utilization, compare to similar houses in your region, etc. to really get some data on how you use energy and your heating and cooling system. Seems to be really active on the development front adding new capabilities vs. others on the market. Definitely the most capable unit out there. Be very careful to document your old thermostat before removing any wires, this will avoid a great deal of the frustration I encountered during my install (entirely my fault).

The Ecobee was a bit challenging to wire as my system didn't provide a common line, but once that obstacle was passed, the unit has been great. Our favorite feature is the remote temperature set. Last trip north to Flagstaff we forgot to turn the system down but could change it from the road. The system didn't turn on most of the weekend with the new setting. On our drive home, we turned down the air and had a pleasant home to return to.

I love this thing. Setup wasn't exactly easy because I had some weird wiring issue, so I had to get it professionally installed, but since then, it's been fantastic. I have to think about it maybe once a week when my schedule is a little off. Super easy!

When I first saw and read about the Ecobee3 thermostat, I was quite excited. Since I live in AZ and have 2 AC units, I needed 2 thermostats, thus making for a pricey purchase. I had written to the customer support prior to purchasing and was told I had a very easy install. Not the case! Customer support had to be called 4 times, each time giving me different information. I had to go up into attic to wire air handler only to be given wrong info and my system not working correctly... all while I'm bordering on heat stroke in the attic. It was a nightmare... I uninstalled and returned to Best Buy. Wonderful product however!!! If you can wire it correctly and have a wife who won't just crank it cold anyway (she doesn't pay the bill!), it would be a great product.

Technically I guess Nest has added the ability to measure other rooms with the smoke detectors but those are really expensive compared to the additional Ecobee sensors. I switched to the Ecobee from Nest and love it! Love greater overall house temperature control. Do miss some of the Nest scheduling abilities but Ecobee are always updating and imagine will come soon.
