If you are one of the lucky folks who already have a 24 volt wire to your thermostat the install will be a breeze, but that was not my case. Although my new furnace was only a few feet away and running a new wire is no problem, the furnace was not outfitted with a 24 volt connector on the outside despite the fact that the internal transformer has a 24 volt side. The guy from tech support worked with me to go over the schematics with texted photos of the furnace manual and photos of the inside of my furnace we created a jumper and got the power we needed to operate the thermostat. Unbelievable that they would lead the consumer through this "minefield" but everything works great now. I can control the thermostat through the app or with Alexa!

My wife and I moved into a new home and after a couple of weeks our AC stopped working. Turns out it was a bad thermostat :( We compared several options, but finally decided on the ecobee4 because we knew we wanted to take advantage of scheduling and remote control for the system, plus having the advantage of Alexa built in as well as getting an extra room sensor made this system stand out from the rest. Installation was quick and easy, setup was simple - within 20 minutes of unboxing the unit, we had it installed and setup on our phones - plus, our AC was back up and running - WIN! I've been very pleased with both the looks and functionality of the unit and would definitely recommend it if you are looking to replace an aging thermostat!

Alexa enabled! Connection was a piece of cake! The support I got during hookup was second to none! The extra bedroom sensors couldn’t BE any easier to add to the system! Superior control from my phone!

Alexa + smart thermostat all in one what else you gonna need

Initially I wasn't thinking of getting the Ecobee4 because I already have multiple Amazon Echo devices in my house and thought it was all hype that a thermostat would have it built in too. But listen, the 1st time I summoned Alexa from my Ecobee and had her give me my daily flash briefing and play music - it all made sense. Pay the extra few dollars and get this smarter smart thermostat - you'll definitely appreciate it. From the thermostat perspective - this is the only one I'll recommend. All the others are ok, but from a functionality, integration and ease of use perspective - go with Ecobee products. Period.

The best thermostat I have ever used/owned. Had the nest before. A month into this and this is already my favorite, by a long shot! The integrated Alexa is fantastic! Very little price difference to get a thermostat with Alexa in it. I love the additional sensor, too. If you choose this, download the app and do the install following the instructions on it. Do NOT use the paper instructions if you have a smartphone. It takes pretty much any possible question out of the equation. I had some unique wiring from the previous installer, so having followed the app, it saved me a bunch of time! Did 2 units, with registering each and a sensor for each in under 2 hours. About 1 1/2. Could have been under one if I didn't have the wiring challenges.

I debated, read reviews, and compared with Nest for months. Finally made the purchase and wish I had done so months ago. Product is extremely easy to set up by following easy step by step directions. In case of questions, tech support is ON it. I was not sure if I should allow thermostat or furnace to control the fan and they were extremely helpful (answer will depend on furnace unit however thermostat is best answer). I have continued to monitor furnace running and it is MUCH more efficient. I haven’t heard it run as often as my ancient thermostat had it run. Overall, extremely glad I made this purchase. Oh, and the sensors are self explanatory and work great. Don’t forget you can control temp with app on phone, awesome feature.

Was an extremely easy installation. Programming was a breeze and I really enjoy the ability to monitor and control my thermostat on my smart phone remotely. What are you waiting for. Get yours today

I love being able to set the temperature for my house when I'm away. That was the main reason I bought this, but it does so much more! The sensors are a great feature as well, once they sense occupancy during a scheduled away time (which my dog and cat in my house don't make it turn on) it will turn on the AC until it no longer senses anyone. The one thing I'd recommend is to turn off smart recovery on the thermostat. It was driving me crazy for the first week until I figured it out. Smart recovery learns how long it takes for your house to cool down so the temperature you set for home is already achieved by the time you get home, but it WAY over estimated the time it took to cool down so my house was down to 76 by 5:00 even though I get home at 7:30.

I used it in the beginning with Alex it was terrible it lost connection to the internet, it was getting frozen and once I turned off Alexa it never had any problems, I give it 4 stars because I didn't care about Alexa functionality, the ecobee is working very well on the app and on the device itself, it's very easy to setup, you have 3 comfort setting to set the temperature for and than you can make a schedule for a day and change between different comfort setting multiple times, than the schedule can be copied to other days or create a new schedule for other days, one of the features that I like is auto set point that changes automatically between ac and heat.
