I have to say I am a little bit disappointed in this thermostat. I will preface by saying I have been using the “other” thermostat for a couple years now (I’m sure you know the one I mean) so this is kind of a comparison with that one. Out of the box the Ecobee thermostat feels a little flimsy. Pretty much all fairly thin plastic and not a lot of weight to it. I will say that the installation was very easy. I literally had a 10-minute break from work and I was able to install the thermostat in that time and have it up and running. When I first installed it, everything seemed great. But after using it for a few days, the flaws started to show. The app is buggy to say the least. There were numerous times where I would open the app and my thermostat would just disappear. Or I would go in to change a setting and then back my way out and then the thermostat would just be gone. I would have to close the app and then re-open it to see my thermostat again. Also found it difficult to find settings in the app as well. In my opinion it’s not very user friendly. While it does offer some more settings than the other guy, its not easy to get to those features or change them. After some trial and error, I was able to get things set up the way I wanted and get a schedule put together for it to set to certain temperatures at different parts of the day. That part worked fairly well. But then we had a day where temperatures were in the upper 90s and it was very humid and I wanted to manually set the temperature lower. I tapped the temperature and slid my finger down to the temperature I wanted. Nothing happened. I did it again, still, nothing happened. I then discovered that after you select your desired temperature you have to then tap the screen again to actually set that temperature. Once again, not very user friendly. It was then about 1030 at night and people were heading to bed and I noticed it was really hot in the house. I went to look at the thermostat and the temperature was set to 75 but it said it was 80 in the house. Why wasn’t it turning the AC on? I took off the thermostat and put it back on the base to restart it and I was able to get the AC on, but then it would shut off before reaching the desired temperature. After going through that a couple times, I finally had enough. At about 11 at night, got out my tools and switched back to my old thermostat because this one just didn’t reliably work for me. I see some promise in this thermostat and it has some good features that I was excited to try, but unfortunately it just didn’t work easily like my previous one did. This may be able to be fixed with software updates, and maybe I’ll give Ecobee a try again sometime, but for now, I can’t recommend it.

In the box is the thermostat, a base plate and bracket, an 8 prong electrical wire plate, a PEC (wiring adaptor), instruction manual, warranty flyer and a wiring diagram. First impression, the thermostat is very streamlined and I like the glossy finish. It’s smaller than my old version but with the base plate and bracket, it fits perfectly in the same spot as the old thermostat. Installation - If you have a general idea of wiring, then the wiring diagram allows you to match the wires in the correct spots. Setup - The thermostat walks you through the set up if you want to use the product without adding to your smart home system. There is a disclaimer, there is a question on the screen that asks you if your system energizes on cold or hot. If you don’t know the answer then you can check your owners manual on your HVAC system. When adding to your smart home, you have to download the app to your device and register. The app does take you to a menu that will allow you to add the product to your smart home. Features - The display is color changeable (to match your decor) and it senses when you walk up to it. Once you walk up to it, it shows you little icons to change settings or even display the weather outside. There is also a vacation mode and a scheduler to adjust the temperature during certain days. Everything else is what you would normally find on a thermostat. So far, there are no cons to this product because everything is working great. Would I recommend to friends and family! ABSOLUTELY!

Recently bought a house and have been looking for ways to modernize our new home. This easy to use and aesthetically pleasing home thermostat is a great addition to our early 1900s dining area. Highly recommended in new as well as older homes.

I bought this to replace my 6 year old ecobee3 and assumed it would be a simple swap. To my surprise, I looked at the harness and it only had a single R terminal. Please be aware that unlike every other ecobee ever made, this new “Enhanced” model DOES NOT SUPPORT 2-WIRE DUAL TRANSFORMER systems. You have to buy the $250 Premium or the cheaper $150 Lite model. It would be nice if Ecobee made this very clear on their website.

Worst thermostat I ever had. It changes settings at random on its own. That includes changing heat, cool, automatic, and off setting, as well as the temperature settings.

Hard to control & understand I'm not sure if it's installed correctly.

Makes all your other Alexas in your house USELESS! New UI won't allow you to disable the microphone. It takes precedent over all other alexas in your house. Meaning you can be three rooms away right next to a REAL alexa and that alexa won't answer. Your thermostat will answer instead with it's TINY speaker.

Great when it work but its always going offline because of ecobee servers. Might wanna try a different brand
