Ok, not great

Good ideas but poor implementation

The description on the features sounded really good. The thermostat is supposed to be able to detect when someone is home or not and to go into savings settings. But the thermostat keeps sensing something , interprets it as a person in the house , and does not go into the "Smart away" mode, and I do not save on energy when noone is home. All I am left with is to use the scheduling options which exist pretty much on any cheap thermostat. The customer service is almost non-existent. They have options to message them, call them, e-mail them, but I never got an answer from them.

Alexa doesn't work

It’s easy to install, customer support from ecobee is top notch (I needed a little help with the install), and I love that I can set schedules and control it from my phone. Can’t recommend enough!

Wi-Fi loss

Can it really have a faulty antenna at 13 months?!!!

Not for me

I wanted to try to regulate between two floors but it didn't work well in my townhome so returned. I went back to my programmable honeywell one.

Buy something besides ecobee

The out of the house feature can only be tied to 1 phone, so that’s pointless, kind of the reason I wanted this. And Ecobee support is the worst. My utility information was incorrect and they kept telling me to change it, including screenshots, for an app version that is no longer in use. So I can’t get my rebates or summer incentives because they changed their app and no longer have an edit utility option.

Stay away from them go with Nest

Though priced at the same price as Nest build quality and features offered are quite inferior to Nest. Also ecobee's server/API goes down every now and then leaving them unreachable remotely via phone or web. I tried reaching out to their support team and been told they experience outages during peak hours and can't really do anything. Which is lame. Well that's their problem not customer's

Unreliable

Every week we had to change air filter or else heat won’t come on. Today, we tried everything we could find online and still wouldn’t work. We called ecobee support and of course, they say “Call Heating Company. It’s not our end. It’s the HVAC system.” Yeah, it’s now unreturnable so we’re screwed out of our $275. DO NOT BUY ecobee. $275 plus heating company coming out to our house plus weekly air filter instead of every 30 days. Calculate that lost.

Takes control of your HVAC, and not in a good way.

I have the daytime AC temp set at 73. It will kick on the AC and start running and running until it's below 70. I turn the temp on the thermostat up to 74 so the AC will shut off, but it just keeps running. Even shutting it off at the thermostat does not make the HVAC shut down. I have to go downstairs to the HVAC and shut off the service switch, or go shut off the breaker.

Sensor not working

I’m not sure if it’s the battery or the senair itself. I still haven’t returned it because it took us a very hard time connect the thermostat to the outlet because of compatibility issue and I dont want to remive that again and connect a new one. But in summary, the sensor is not working....

Junk in 6 months cost us $150 to find out

Not the greatest
