I never own one before so I bought one. This particular one was at a fair price for being a smart bit. I wasn’t a big fan of it at all. It took almost a whole week to get use to my flooring.

This think is terrible. It can’t get to every part of the room and has no suction and the sweepers are weak. Don’t waste the money, if you can’t afford the real thing this is definitely not a substitute. I used it for 3 days and it’s didn’t pick up anymore than I could have by hand! Had to sweep the wood floors right after it ran for an hour each time.

This was purchased one month ago and it cannot handle dust and cat hair. It was such a great idea but the wheels get tangled in the least amount of animal hair and you have to untangle them after each use daily using tweezers. We have only tile floors and two cats but this is ridiculous. If no animals and not a desert atmosphere on tile this would be a convenience. But honestly not worth it. Was a good price though. Too bad.

RC Vacuum Cleaner for the Adventurous

Do you even really need a robot vacuum cleaner? Should you spend twice as much for something better? How much do you need to restrict where the vacuum can travel? Those are the types of questions you should be asking yourself before going out and getting a robot vacuum cleaner. If you're hoping the robot vac does much more than light vacuuming, you're going to fill up the bin quickly and need to manually empty it out before the robot vacuum will be effective again. The DEEBOT N79SE is no different. Will your pet be afraid of it? Depends on the pet really. Our dog just watched while the robot vac sucked up its tail. If your dog sheds heavily, no robot vacuum I've seen yet will be good for you, a definite daily help, but with any heavy hair, it will get wrapped around the roller wheels quite easily besides filling up the bin. Functionally, the DEEBOT N79SE works fine, if your room and lifestyle allows it. If you have an open floorplan, it will be difficult to restrict where the machine can go. If however you have smaller rooms where you can barricade it off like by just closing the door, for instance, then you'll enjoy the functionality more, but... would need to carry the unit from room to room for it to clean more than the single room. You can always tell the unit to just clean around the room's edges, which might work for an open floorplan, or there's the "spot" mode which cleans where you start the unit, circling outward as each ring is cleared. The app is a new twist to the robot vacs. Seems like a great direction to go as it shows you how much life is left on your filter for instance. Curious to see if that is purely calendar time based, like every three months, or "as needed" based upon the amount of cleaning it performed. Nice twist with the Alexa / Google Assistant integration. It almost feels like an episode of The Jetsons, though I seem to recall Rosie the Robot pushing around an upright vacuum, not one that was automated. Of course, you can just treat the vacuum as an RC-car and drive it around manually with the app. Why someone would do that, I don't know, as the idea of getting a robot vac is to let it do the cleaning, while you're out and about doing your own thing. One thing I almost don't like about the unit is the amount of work you have to do to setup the room for it to clean. While it will stear around objects it "sees", it just might get stuck in the closet if you forget to close that. And generally just need to rid the floor first of bigger obstacles / trash items. Battery life is okay but you can cut it in half roughly by upping the power. It is rated for 2 hours but you'll almost never need that length of time to fill up the bin, to be emptied. For an entry level robot vacuum cleaner, you'll get what most people are looking for. Is that enough for you is a question. Spending more won't fix issues like dealing with doghair but it will give you an auto-emptying feature that just isn't available at this price point.

I’ve had this robot less than 5 month and am having the error “Anti-Drop sensor malfunction. Please wipe it.” I have cleaned every square inch of this robot trying to clean the anti-drop sensor(which the manual points out and has been cleaned numerous times) to no avail. It just undocks from the charging station and starts beeping.

    An economical robot

Cutting directly to the chase, this is a good entry-level robot vacuum if you don't have one and want to give it a try. It has the essential, basic features of a robot vacuum but really none of the extra bells and whistles that some people might want eventually. It's a good robot vacuum to figure out (without breaking the bank) if that's a tool you want to use in your household. Only supporting 2.4GHz WiFi was a bit of a nuisance during the initial setup. I had to pull out an ancient tablet that was only capable to 2.4GHz so I could talk to it and get it on the network. Once over that hurdle, it's worked like a champ on the WiFi. Another downside is there's no capability to keep it from going into areas without just physically blocking it. It doesn't support the magnetic strip boundary which some do, or an infrared boundary like others. But, if you can shut it in a room and let it go that won't be an issue for you. On the plus side, it is fairly quiet when running. I think it's one of the quieter models I've tried (out of about 6 brands). Another definite advantage is its low profile and smooth top so it doesn't get stuck under things as easily as some. Many other robots have little sensors or other protrusions on top that can catch under cabinets, etc. This one does seem to get stuck much less often. Like most robot vacuums it has a fairly small dust bin so you'll definitely need to empty it every time it runs. And, don't expect it to clean a large area that's extremely dirty without first using a regular vacuum to get the bulk of it. In my view, robots work great during the week to keep the cat hair at bay. They run while I'm at work, then I just empty the dust bin when I get home and enjoy a clean floor with about 60 seconds of effort. Someday I suppose they'll take over the world, but right now I'm just happy my floors are cleaner.

My home is filled with smart devices and I jumped at the chance to get yet another smart device. I like to think of them as assistants because they all serve a purpose and this Deebot is no exception. I have personally owned two other brands but this one I am new to. I like the fact that it is small and does not take up a lot of space. I chose to dock it in the entryway of my place so it is out of the way. My apartment is tiny at around a little over 500 sq ft. I believe that this particular is best for individuals who have smaller living spaces. After using this for a couple of weeks I like it. The Deebot is able to reach under places my Neato can't due to the fact that it does not have a radar like system protruding from the top of the robovac. I setup the app after a few tries for whatever reason I was having some trouble on my Samsung phone. So I set it up on another phone I have and it worked without issue. I was able to setup it with the Alexa which I enabled through the app and it works as expected but the use is basic and limited at the moment. Hopefully they will update that overtime but for now it is fine. Now how does it clean?? I t does a good job and I am not sure if there is a formula that the Deebot uses because it seems to have a random path it will follow. For example it cleaned my bathroom multiple times while it game less attention to the entry way near the dock for whatever reason. After a while it will get the job done. I can't help but feel that it could be more efficient with a better algorithm of some sort to help it navigate the environment in a more efficient manner. Doing that would probably cut the cleaning time by a fraction thus even saving battery life. I have a shag carpet and the Deebot did not seem to like it a whole lot at first because it would get caught on the edges. My solution place something heacy on the edges and it won't get caught. :::Pros::: - I don't sweep less than before - Little maintenance required - low profile fits under my dresser and night stands :::Cons::: - Trash bin is smaller than I would prefer - Limited Alexa voice commands Overall I would gladly get this again. It is simple and does what it is designed to do. I want to eventually try a higher end model and see what Ecovacs top of the line Robovacs can do. TL;DR Good entry level vacuum that helps out around the house or wherever you use it. It can be used with Alexa and that is a plus because I prefer to not use the app it is easier to send verbal commands to clean my place.

The ECOVACS Robotics - DEEBOT N79SE was a nice surprise at this price point. I have experience with other models and this one does some things very well. Set up is easy you just have to know if you have a 2.4ghz or 5ghz wi-fi set up. This is not compatible with 5ghz and that usually is the setup issue people have. The app is very user friendly and has a host of useful features. Consumable usage was the new one from the others for me. It will tell you when you need to change your brushes and filter. The app also allows you to schedule clean times and remotely operate the vacuum. Operationally there are 4 modes, Auto, Edge, Spot and Single Room. Auto is pretty simple it automatically cleans the entire area you allow it access to using a random pattern. Edge, only cleans the outer edge of the room. Spot is a manually placement then it circles out from that spot and finally single room as long as you block its access from other areas. I tested both standard and max cleaning power settings. Standard is less noisy and will clean longer but I find the max setting is the optimal setting. I set it to clean while I am either asleep on the second floor or while I am gone during the day. Both run the possible risk of the unit getting stuck (more on that later) and you either wake up to or come home to an incomplete clean. That is an easy enough fix, help it out and let it continue on. Like I said I’m willing to risk it for the extra cleaning power. I purposely spread those annoying cut outs people put in cards and small lego pieces to see what this thing could do. It had no problems with either except the cut outs apparently have pretty good staying power on shag area rugs. The dust bin is a decent size and if you empty it regularly every couple of days it seems to be a good schedule. I have a Labrador Retriever and it handles shorter hair (lots of it) with no issues so far. I find if I empty the bin every other day that is enough to stay on top of it. The Deebot navigates back to the base using radio signal. I just discovered LED bulbs among other things can and will interfere with that signal so the base placement may take some extra tries. If you find it is having difficulty move the base and try again. I sat and watched the Deebot navigate almost my entire first floor trying to find the base like a drunk guy who took an Uber to the bar looking for his car. I also have had to un-wedge this several times from under the couch, it really wants to get under there. Dinning room chairs also seem to be a nemesis for the Deebot. Although there is waste in its methods, those are minor annoyances to an otherwise great set up. If the Deebot does not “finish” it will return, charge and resume. I would recommend this unit in the bot vacuum world.
