Very Smart Vacuum with a few flaws

This vacuum is awesome at what it does. It was very cool watching it map my house in the first pass. The app allows you to see where the vacuum is cleaning live. For the most part the vacuum is very good. I love being able to schedule specific rooms on a specific day, and the cleaning lines in the carpet it makes. It gives the home a very clean feeling. Only issue I really had with vacuum hence the 4 stars was with the app. I really wish you could add extra rooms without having the recreate the entire map. I had a room it totally missed except for the sensor detecting a patch of it. I can use the manual area clean the vacuum it. But I cant do the one touch area cleaning. Also it sometimes will get stuck under dresser when the wheels lift for clearance.

This vac robot simply does it all, plain and simple. From the moment I opened the box, everything was simple and easy. The packaging was very secure and housed all the different components necessary. The parts were extremely easy to attach. I was actually surprised by lightweight base, as I was expecting it to be a bit heavier. The initial startup process was seamless, especially setting the initial connection through the app. In the past I’ve run into simple issues such as connecting to my WiFi (2.4ghz vs. 5ghz) but the app made everything extremely smooth and the vac only connects to the 5ghz frequency. Up front, I almost felt blown back on the couch when the voice-report came on. Out of the box the volume is set to concert, I mean she’s super loud! Not only did the volume itself shock me, but each action/task was announced. I played around in the app to find volume controls, which is available, and definitely a needed control. Once i got it charged and ready, I set it out in its first cleaning voyage. The volume of the vacuum itself is definitely far from loud. I would have liked it to be a little quieter but I wouldn’t really complain about it’s volume as-is. The vac cautiously checked all points of the room, changing from hardwood to a rug without getting tangled. After it finished mapping the area I chose, I sent it back to its base to check the collection bin. The capacity is a bit smaller than I would expect, and I can easily see this filling up pretty quickly, especially with children running around the house, lol. Next, I had to give the mopping feature a try. When the session started, I noticed a small trail of water left behind by the mop. I do t know if it could have been a compressed groove in the mop pad from packaging, or if the water level may have been too high. I left the water level settings at the default medium setting. But, after about 2 minutes I didn’t see the trail any more. Overall I like the mop portion,. It’s easy, quick, and it works. That’s a big plus for me. Overall, I think this one is a winner.

I was pretty excited, and my expectations were high for this product. When I finally received it I couldn't wait to get started! Open the box and read the directions to how to operate the bot. It took me a little bit longer to get started, because I didn't know how to use QVC on my phone to scan the bot for the app. It actually didn't do a bad job cleaning and mopping, but my home has the sunken living room which makes it a little more difficult because I have to put the bot on the sunken part. I did like the fact that when the battery got low, it recharged and finish where it left off. I did see parts that it couldn't reach and it missed a lot a places because of it's size and it could not fit tables, chairs, furniture Ect. For the most part it did clean up the main areas and the mop feature was great! I believe they cut your cleaning time in half, but you still have to clean because of furniture and places that it can't reach. I'm going to try to do some adjustments and probably watch a video to see if there's something I'm doing wrong. I do like it though and still would probably recommend it to a friend, because if you have a single level, it will do most of the work for you.

Seems to do the job very well so far no special problems, we do have a lot of dogs with a lot of hair and handles it for the most part, yet sometimes things get stuck. Still better than what I’ve seen other models.

This is my first robotic vacuum, and I was a little skeptical about how effective it would be, but for the most part, this exceeded my expectations. The app is easy to set up and pretty self-explanatory. Even if you don't consider yourself tech savvy, this is simple to set up and control. All of your settings (suction power, network settings, etc.) are accessed through the app. Once you get it set up, just turn it on and it goes to work. It does a great job of mapping my house. I love the way it detects hard surfaces and carpets. It really automates keeping your floors clean. The vacuum function performs almost as well as my upright. For daily maintenance, it's absolutely up to the task. For big messes, you might need something with a little more power. The same holds true for the mopping function. For basic mopping, this fine, but if there is any dried dirt or if your floor is heavily soiled, you'll need a standard mop to clean problem areas. Battery life is fine. I have an 1100 square foot apartment and it finishes with power to spare. I usually get two days use before needing to empty the cup. The one drawback is that it doesn't handle long hair very well. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the performance and ease of operation with the unit.

    Last Robot Vac You'll Buy

    Posted .

I've had two Robot vacs before this, Bobsweep and Neato D5. While the Neato D5 said it uses Lasers, it still seemed to vacuum randomly and always had missed spots. The D5 also struggled on area rugs and carpets. I won't even mention Bobsweep because it was a cheaper model. This T5 tops all vacuums with it's precision mapping and cleaning. I have a husky who sheds a lot,and the automatic boost on rugs and carpets really do a good job of getting that thick fur out. The no go lines work really well as well as spot cleaning. The set-up was super easy. The price is really high, but if you buy this, you'll never have to buy another robot vac in the near future since this has all th current bells and whistles.

    Works well but App issues

This robotic vacuum actually works pretty well once you can get the app installed on your phone. It wont completely replace your upright vacuum in my personal opinion, but it will keep things tidy in between deep cleans. The fact that it can mop as well is great and works fairly well. Again every now and then you'll likely still want to hit the area with a traditional mop to get any little crevasse that the robot might miss, but overall does a pretty thorough job. Includes a replacement filter, 5+ mop/dust pads, the mop attachment, and a brushless "direct suction" attachment for hardwoods/tile. Took about an hour to cover 500sq/ft of vacuuming in the rooms I set it loose in, that included learning the floor layout. This robot can learn multiple areas and multiple floors of your home so should work for most. The set-up for a multi-floor home isn't the most straight forward process but once you find the setting its easy to get going from there. Now in regards to getting the app on your phone is something they need to work on. Their current "Ecovacs Home" app is not actually available in the Google Play store. Only the older Deebot software is available which does not control the newer ozmo t5. I ended up getting the app directly from the manufacture website as an .apk file. This allowed me to install the app and get the robot functional but I had to change security settings on my phone to allow a .apk file not downloaded from the play store to be installed. Not sure about the Apple app, I don't have an IPhone. I see this as a fairly major hurdle for most and I think it would result in some just simply deciding to return the vacuum instead of figure out how to install the app which is unfortunate as the vacuum/mop works fine otherwise. Functionality wise its great, just make sure you know how to install a .apk file not downloaded from the play store if you are an android user. Hopefully they fix this soon.

    App & Mapping are Frustrating

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I’ve tried to do an entire map of my house three times now to no avail. The first time, I didn’t know it needed to be in ADVANCED MODE & CONTINUOUS CLEANING to create a map. It’d be nice if the app walked you through that important detail first instead of having to figure it out by googling. The only thing it tells you to do before you create a map is to tidy up. The last two times I’ve tried to map it said a brush was tangled (when it wasn’t). Both times it happens literally right before it’s almost done mapping & then it says “Creating New Map.” And you have to wait 6 hours between charges just to start all over again! It’s all very frustrating—why can’t a robot save the map it’s started to create without having to start all over? The vacuuming has very good suction. I haven’t gotten to the mopping yet because I just want to get a dang map done for once. I wish I’d bought it through Amazon because I’d have returned it by now. (I missed the 15 day cutoff for Best Buy). So now I’m stuck with it.
