Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni Review We’ve had a number of robot vacuums over the years, and it’s clear that this Deebot T20 Omni is not only far and away the best unit we’ve ever had; it’s clearly part of a generational leap in performance and usability. Robot vacuums have been limited historically by a range of issues including limited battery life, poor navigation (the unit gets lost or stuck), lack of obstacle avoidance (the unit attempts to eat socks and cables left lying around on the floor), limited software, and lack of actual cleaning performance. I’ve been using this T20 for over a week now and it’s safe to say that it addresses every single one of these issues and many more. It cleans well and has never once gotten lost or stuck despite the effects of two teens and their miscellaneous items spread around our home. Pros: - Vacuums and mops in one pass, intelligently lifting the mops when needed. - Actually gets floors clean - Outstanding navigation and obstacle avoidance – has never gotten lost in our home - Works in all lighting conditions - Base station handles the mop washing and dust emptying for you - Long run times - Excellent, flexible software for mapping and custom cleaning schedules - Great looking design and build quality - Relatively quiet Cons: - Sometimes struggles to get all dirt in tight corners - Voice assistant activation phrase also triggers our Google Home devices The base station automatically empties the dustbin, charges the bot, and wets and washes the mops with hot water. No user intervention is required other than periodically emptying the dirty water tank, topping up the clean water, and emptying the dust bag. The bag should last many weeks for the typical home. I’ve never yet managed to deplete the battery, even with 1 hour plus vacuuming and mopping sessions, but if you do, the bot will return to top up and then resume where it left off. This is the first vacuum I’ve tried with combined mopping and vacuuming, and it handles this brilliantly with powerful rotating mops that automatically lift off the floor any time the machine crosses on to carpet or rungs. This allows you to clean the entire floor while intelligently switching between mopping and vacuuming. Furthermore, the mopping actually works really well for regular cleaning and the unit returns to its base every so often to washing the mops automatically in hot water. When you first set up the T20, there’s a “quick mapping” option which builds a map of your home without actually needing to clean the entire floor. The process is fast, and sufficiently accurate to build a map with individual rooms laid out. If you don’t like the default setup of rooms, it’s easy to divide, join, and rename areas to get it just the way you need it. Virtual boundaries and no-go rectangular zones can be easily added to the map. One the map is set up, navigation is outstanding. The unit will occasionally appear a little confused, rotating a few times in a single area, but it has never once gotten lost or stuck and the overall cleaning pattern is both thorough and efficient. Obstacle avoidance, while not perfect, is also excellent. The unit does a great job detecting and avoiding socks, shoes, and even cables. Also, it’s not camera based and works just fine in low light. The software takes a little getting used to, but the functionality is outstanding. You can create incredibly flexible cleaning schedules that perform mopping, vacuuming, or both, selectively to different areas with different suction strength and with a determined cleaning order. The schedules have been reliable and I’ve never lost connection to the bot or the app. It’s also easy to do ad hoc cleaning from within the app or using the built-in Google Home or Alexa integration. Natural language is supported, so you can easily ask the unit to vacuum and mop the kitchen, for example. The T20 also has a built-in voice assistant Yiko and you can issue voice commands directly to the device by saying “OK Yiko”. The same natural language capabilities apply. The only issue here is that for some reason the “OK Yiko” activation phrase also triggers my Google Home units, which is not ideal. Conclusion To say that we love this little guy is a gross understatement. The generational improvements in the T20 mean that we can actually rely on this unit to keep our floors clean each day without worrying about it getting stuck and without needing to pick up everything and rearrange furniture first. It truly accomplishes its aim of being a housekeeping assistant that gives you back hours of your life without taking them back again in micromanagement and frustration. Highly recommended!

Didn't work on my new rug. robot snagged the rug. I returned the item. Also to confusing to operate.

It is a good item, but the mop could not get high enough so it wets the carpet, the avoidance needs to be improve as well.

Worked great at 1st, however once it got clogged the 1st time it constantly gets clogged, the mop sink lines are completely clear yet won't get the mop pads wet any longer. Got about 15 good uses out of it not not worth trying any longer

It does not work as i would of liked. It could do better when it vacuums.

I bought this 2 months ago and I’ve had nothing but problems. After mapping the house, the robot still got lost and continuously couldn’t find its way back to the base. The dirty water tank stopped emptying and would puddle water at the base.

it just so so，not very easy to use, not very smart.

It worked great for first 3 months. Then drain pan would not drain all the way. Now 7 months in the hot water is not dispensing.

It pick up a lot but wouldn’t pick everything up. I would have to tell it to do the area twice. The sensors or cámara did not detect the toys or cables and it would get tangle.

Product is great but Best buy delivery and customer service sucks. My package was sent through FedEx and was almost lost. Despite multiple follow ups, BB Reps were helpless and kept giving me another date of delivery.

Broke 5 days after using it. I must say though it was easy to use but the app also had a lot of bugs.

This mop/vaccum couldnt have come at a better time! In the fall, my back yard turns into a muddy mess. We have 4 large breed dogs that track that mud in day in and day out. In addition to the muddy paw prints, I also have a 1 year old that likes to throw food on the floor at meal time; often leaving a sticky mess. To say mama is too tired to mop multiple times a day is an understatement! The week I got this was the rainiest week this fall. This robot was working overtime being run multiple times a day to keep up with the mud. I have another robot system that just didnt work so well. That system was a mop and a vaccum that were seperate. What I love about this robot is that it will automatically vaccume and then go back and mop everything. The mop will periodically go back to its base to wash its own mop pads and then continue cleaning. It also empties and drys itself which is amazing. The other mop I pwned had a small tank and wouldnt work if it wasnt 100% full to start. This is not an issue with this robot as the base holds a huge tank of water and as long as there is some amount of water, it will start a session whwn requested. This makes it easier to use this more frequently. The clean and dirty water tanks are large and very easy to empty and refill which is nice. Something to keep in mind, this does make the base large and heavy however. The app for this is amazing! There are so many setting options to really customize the cleaning experiance. There is also easy ways to earn rewards points in the apps for discounts on future purchases just from running the robot and navigating the app. The mapping process is almost scary. I sent it to map for the first time and it simply drove into the middle of the room and with lasers malped my whole house that was visible from that point! It was kind of crazy!! One negitive I ran into is how sensitive object avoidance is, even in the lowest setting. It would often avoid clunps of dog fur and dust bunnies. The other downside is how tall it is, it does not fit under my cabinents of kitchen table like other robots have. I did run into a few technical issues early on. However exivacs was quick to get replacement upgraded parts and extras immediately.

This is a very large unit. I had great difficulty finding a location for this since it needs electrical power. I ended up placing it in my dining room and not happy with this location. It took me several days to get this set up and could not get it to connect to my WiFi. There were conflicting directions about using 2.4 vs 5 WiFi but finally the app indicated 2.4. I couldn’t locate the reset button and the directions were very vague. I am not a fan of connecting my appliances to an app but as I started using the app I liked it. I first had the device map my house. The thing I don’t like about robotic vacuums is that you need to first pick up your house and remove objects like cords or paper. During mapping the device got stuck on scatter rugs. I have a 3 bedroom 1700 sq ft house that has the same tile flooring through out but I do have rugs in the bathrooms and kitchen. It finally had the house mapped so then the next day I could put it to work. It vacuumed the whole house and did a fairly good job but did have difficulty with the bathroom rugs. The app showed where it had vacuumed and it vacuumed in a logical way, unlike other brands. (I have 3 other robotic vacuums at other houses.) The battery lasted long enough to clean the whole house. The next day, I removed the rugs from the kitchen and had the device just mop the kitchen floor and it did a fairly good job. I then had it work in the dining room and living room mopping. It cleaned on of my rugs very well but ignored the other 2. It went into the kitchen when it shouldn’t have. It left some water on the tile as it entered the charging unit since it periodically washed the floor pads. The floor pads would get quite dirty but this also happens when steam mopping the tile floor. There are 2 canisters in the unit; one for clean water and one for the dirty water and the water was dirty. I would never dare let this device vacuum or mop if I was not at home. I think this device is very expensive and takes up a lot of space. I would prefer that it be housed in the laundry room but mine just isn’t big enough. It will be good for quick kitchen vacuuming and mopping. It has bags for the dirt inside the unit and I am not excited about needing to buy replacement bags. Overall, I have mixed feelings about this device but it did do a good job of cleaning our house.

This thing is amazing ! It keeps our home very clean with little to no effort from ourselves, it empties itself and cleans itself and it cleans the mop so well it never smells, and it dries the floor completely. The water tank is small though and hence needs to be refilled often when it is mopping a larger area (we have hardwood floors and tile floors and only a couple of large rug areas). We can't say enough good things about this vacuum / mop but alas we have to admit we haven't had it and been using it for very long, only 3 weeks now, so we don't know if it is going to keep working this well down the road many months and years from now. It is a bit on the pricey side. It is very quiet, probably the second most quiet robotic vacuum we've ever used. We can watch T.V. without having to turn up the volume while it is working in front of us. Although I control it on my phone, my wife controls it with voice commands on our Google Assistant device. Now we have had some technical issues with it at first, especially with mapping out cleaning areas. The 3-D Mapping is not that great and for optimum functionality we find we have to reset the it periodically. All in all though we are very happy with this robotic vacuum and mop combination and recommend it to our family and friends.

Mop stopped working within 3 months of purchase. Extremely difficult to get support. Undoubtedly my worst purchase ever. Never am I going to buy anything from ecovacs ever again.

Stupid robot vacuum I’ve ever got. It’s unworth, Don’t buy it…….

Not good at all. Worked good for 2 weeks. I've owned a few in my life and this one worked for a very short period of time.

This thing sucks. Does not work 80% of the time. Always a malfunction message for no reason.

It doesn't work right. I'm planning on returning it
