Let me say 1st, I love how user friendly the Google Nest is and how compatible it is with other devices in my home (same platform, etc.). I think that is what I miss the most. Eero does seem to work faster, but I think I need 4 pods in addition to the 3 that are included. With 2600 sq. ft., Google covered by home, but was not as fast. Eero is fast, but doesn't completely cover my home. Now I am forced to spend more money on another eero to gain coverage.

Homes with multiple floors, thick walls, or complex layouts may require additional units for complete coverage. Before purchasing additional units, here are several strategies to maximize coverage with your existing three-unit system: 1. Strategic Placement Optimization: Position your gateway eero centrally where your modem is located, then place the additional units in areas that create overlapping coverage zones. eeros work best when placed in open spaces, elevated positions (like on shelves), and away from thick walls, metal objects, large appliances, and electronics that can cause interference. 2. Update and Optimize: Verify your eero app is current and that your system has the latest firmware. Check your network topology in the app to ensure each eero is connecting optimally—sometimes repositioning units by just a few feet can dramatically improve coverage.

I dont have cable, so I stream everything. I live in an area where my cell phone does not work without a wifi connection. When my Netgear Nighthawk was acting up I went to Best Buy to find an alternative. This one was recommended as you can position the pods in different parts of the house to help with coverage. The first one is up in my closet. (For some reason when my house was built they put the command center for the landlines, cable and wifi in the master closet) the other I went to the Family room, where the TV is. It would not connect. It was "too far" from the other. So I went to the Kitchen next to the Family room. Too far again. So I moved to the Dining area near the stairs. Finally it connected. For reference my house is 1000 sq feet and this system is meant to cover a larger area than that. Not sure why it wouldnt connect where I needed it most. Only time will tell if this was a massive waste of money.

Place eeros where they can talk to each other. 2. Place eeros on a hard, flat surface. 3. Keep your eeros out in the open. 4. Whenever possible, aim for direct line of sight between eeros. The fewer the walls between your eeros, the better. If this information doesn’t resolve your issue, call eero customer service at (877)659-2347. They’re available Monday-Sunday 6am-8pm PT. This router has solved my problems and the Wi-Fi works everywhere in my residence.

Obviously smaller units have less power but it is also reflected in the price. If you have a huge house be sure to buy more satellites (mesh units) and still get maximum coverage. Easy setup with smart phone.

I have Xfinity modem/router combo and it was a bit difficult to connect. I also bought this with the intent to extend my WiFi to the backyard by placing one by the window. Once connected my WiFi outside was about the same as without, inside was stronger though. I returned it because I decided to go with the Xfinity version which only required me to buy 1 instead of 2. With the eero one has to be hard wired to the modem (Ethernet cord) and any others placed throughout the home can connect to that one whereas with the Xfinity ones can connect wirelessly to the modem no need for extras. Also connecting only 1 was a third of the price. If you have an eero router then these should connect wirelessly like my Xfinity one otherwise you will need at least 2 for what you're trying to do. Walls and glass apparently affect the signal strength so for outside use you'll need another option unless your outside needs are very close the your plugin inside.

One thing I noticed is that sometimes it's faster without the ethernet connection, I wonder why? Anyway, overall performance is excellent, I should say.

Excellent decision! Product is way fast and never goes down. I have a 3000 sq ft home and the coverage is 100% Well worth the $$! Great product.

When I moved my computer from the man cave downstairs to a main floor room it was too far from the main router to get a strong signal. The eero system improved the speed from 50 to 350 mps.
