Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the ease of use, coverage, and setup of the Pro Mesh Wi-Fi 5 System. Many appreciate the improved range, performance, and signal strength, resulting in a better overall experience. However, some customers find the price to be expensive, and a few have noted that the units can get warm. While some buffering issues were reported previously, the system largely resolves these problems for most users.

    Stellar router and experience

I recently took a job that deals with sensitive information, so my router that hadn’t been updated in over three years had to go, especially with the VPNFilter malware. I wanted something fast, reliable, secure, and I was also hoping for a beautiful mobile app. eero meets or exceeds all of these marks. I consider myself pretty tech-savvy, but I didn’t want to deal with complex router set-up, including configuring band steering. To steal from Apple, I wanted something that “just works.” I debated for a long time – do I go for the premium-priced eero even though I live in a one-bedroom apartment and don’t really NEED an eero? Do I go for a 1st-gen? Do I get some other ugly router with 20 antennae? Ultimately, based on reviews and recommendations from colleagues, I bit the bullet and purchased a 2nd-gen—I decided with congested apartment living, I wanted the tri-band experience. I figured I can always add more eeros later on when we move to a bigger place, so a single eero wasn’t overkill by THAT much. I regret nothing. The router is FAST. I have a 200 mbps connection, and anywhere in my apartment, I get between 190 and 210 mbps via Wi-Fi, with just the one eero. The router’s already had an update since I got it (I’ve only had it a week). My Google cast connections, which frequently dropped out on my old router, are rock solid – I didn’t even know I was having router issues in this regard before, but things are perfect now. The only thing I don’t like about it is the number of ethernet connections – I did have to buy an inexpensive network switch, because between my Raspberry Pi, NAS, and TV, I needed a few more ports, but that’s a minor quibble. I’ve also reached out to support for a few different things, and they (and their CEO!) have been absolutely superb, exceeding my expectations for customer service. Between this router’s performance, its security, and the overall eero experience (including that great mobile app I mentioned I had hoped for!), you can’t go wrong with an eero (system). Kudos, Nick.

One of the easiest setups ever

Over the years I have set up more then my fair share of home WiFi networks, and this was a snap. You do t have to concern yourself with repeaters, or other ranges extenders. You only have one SSID to be concerned with which makes my maintenance tasks a snap. While I only have a 2300 sq foot home, I have tons of RF interference form CFL’s, 8+ computers, 12+ echo devices, and several iOS devices. The devices take care of the load balancing so you don’t have to switch networks depending on your location in the house. Now I have only just installed this hardware, I can already see improvements in performance. This hardware was a little pricey, but so far the cost was worth it. Because of all of CNN my repeaters, I went from 6 SSID’s to one. Speed tests have me up and down at over 125 MB’s, no lag, no collisions, but the real test will be when my four grand sons get here, and gaming begins. Worth the price, and I will recommend it to others.

Won't work internally when Internet is down

The Eero line of mesh routers (and many other mesh router brands) will not maintain internal Wi-Fi connections when the Internet goes down. that is a non-starter. We have plenty of devices that talk to each other without the need of external Internet. Given the unreliability of Comcast, I didn't even bother to open the box. Just returned it. Who designs this stuff? Complete fail.

I bought this to cover deadspots in my house. The app said that I had set up my beacons perfectly yet I was seeing no increase in speed. The fact that they don't differentiate from 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz means that I wasnt able to take advantage of my fiber speeds on my phone since it was connecting to 2.4Ghz by default. Definitely not worth $500
