Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the ease of use, coverage, and setup of the Pro Mesh Wi-Fi 5 System. Many appreciate the improved range, performance, and signal strength, resulting in a better overall experience. However, some customers find the price to be expensive, and a few have noted that the units can get warm. While some buffering issues were reported previously, the system largely resolves these problems for most users.

Works excellent but not as expected

Don’t get me wrong it’s a great WiFi set up. I was let down by it not being able to handle more than 275 Mbps especially at that price point. If you have internet speeds below that coming into your house this is perfect for you. But for me I need a WiFi router that can put out the 1,000 Mbps I run. Going to have to return it because I need something faster. Otherwise it’s a great router.

    Mesh Network Management Issues

    Posted .

Purchased the Eero Pro Mesh (3 Unit) system. Big surprise when it broke my smart lighting system. Adding a smart lighting feature requires a call to Eero customer support. You need to have a customer service agent on the line to temporarily deactivate the 5 Ghz band in order to allow a new smart lighting system to auto discover on the 2.4Ghz band. The same goes when trying to troubleshoot any pairing issue. Given the price premium I paid for this mesh WiFi technology, the lack of granular management functionality in the Eero software severely limits its usefulness to me. Calling into Eero customer support was of no help. You are at the mercy of the tech proficiency of the agent. In my case, I placed three calls into Eero customer support with no luck in resolving the pairing issues. At this point I can either return and see if the Orbi mesh WiFi technology is a better match. Good thing I bought the GEEK extended warranty feature.

I bought 3 packs about 6 years ago. I was pretty happy with them. Easy set up and works pretty good. Then all of a sudden they stopped working recently. I found out they stopped security updates in my models and told me to buy new ones. They didn’t say that when they first sold it to me. Also they should’ve warn me ahead of time so I won’t be without internet. I found out all their models are only good for 5 years now so I didn’t buy it again. I switched to google nest and works perfectly good.

    Slow Performance

This system (eero pro), and the Netlink Velop I tried before it, did not provide the speed I was expecting throughout the house. While I am speaking for the eero system in this review, it applies to my experience with the Velop system as well. I have 1 GPS to the home and about ~750 Mbps off the router according to fast.com using a MacBook pro w/ usbc-ethernet connector. Initially the eero did no better than ~100 Mbps from the gateway. I set the eero in bridged mode and then got about ~350 Mbps from the gateway. But here is where eero failed - I could not get anything better than about ~200 Mbps from a node other than the gateway. I tried putting my Fios gateway quantum router into bridged mode per eero’s suggestion but the router would no longer work. I now have an ASUS AC3100 attached to my router and it regularly provides 450-500Mbps throughout the entire house. My house is around 2000-2500 square feet and I had the eero gateway on the main level and one in the basement and another upstairs. My router is on the main level and the eero gateway plugged into it. All devices are centrally located on each floor. I even tried the eero beacon, which claims 30% better performance than the standard node, but it did not make much difference.

    Don’t buy

I bought the eero system on geek squads recommendation and had them install it for me. Quite simply it doesn’t work. The app shows everything is great, the speed test shows ISP (optimum) providing good service but 1) laptops keep showing no internet service and 2) mobile devices and laptops don’t easily roam from unit to unit, they get stuck on whatever unit they first attached to. Bottom line is I come home at night and spend an hour trying different things on the devices (turn WiFi on andoff, Renew the network lease, forget the network and then join it again, reboot the devices) and on the eeros (unplugging one and replugging it, soft resets, hard resets) and on the modem (turning it on and off) to try to get the system to give me internet service. I have 9 eeros on a three floor house - quite an expensive system and professionally installed. What a piece of junk. Gonna have geek squad come back and try once more and then gonna return the whole system.

    Waste of time for me

Set up in 10 min. Bought the 3 pack eero. Installed 1st one to modem by hardwire as instructed. Established network ID and downloaded installation app. Try to set up remaining 2 eeros. Got message that eero was not found. I even placed it next to modem. Then I got message that modem was not being contacted. I recycled modem 3 times, still no dice. I tried troubleshooting on app. It was no help. EERO support was not available as they had gone for the day. I wasted an hour trying to get EERO set up. Then I had to reset my previous router and devices. Returned the package the next day. Others seem to be able to setup, but I couldn't.

Research problems users are having with Eero dropping wifi service to their devices. When it works it's fine but as you will find it becomes extremely frustrating. I'm here today looking for an alterative

    Bad product

They sold it to me as the best, I install the Best Buy technical service, the internet 240, but the team does not want to communicate with the roku, hp printer, axus computer and other equipment, good attention of the EERO technical service, they did not solve anything rather, they want to sell you a contract for viruses and others, but the problem with them is to reset or change all the equipment that cannot connect to WiFi, I do not recommend it, I will look for another router that works.

Do NOT Buy Eero: WARRANTY IS NOT SUPPORTED

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I deployed a 3-unit Eero system and all worked fine for a few months, until...the management app prompted me to update the software and then the entire system crashed and would not reconnect to the Internet. Even though I was using a supported configuration, Customer SUpport insisted that I had to deploy in another way that would require buying more equipment/devices. They would not honor their 1-year warranty, NOR would they pay for the additional equipment despite the fact that they could not supported a previously working and supported configuration. DO NOT BUY!!!

Doesn't deserve "Pro" in the name

A complete joke. They do work well from a signal/stability standpoint, but absolutely no features that come standard in virtually every other brand, and certainly do not deserve to tout the word "Pro" in the name. When thinking of a "Pro" version, one would think they would provide VLAN support, splash page, or those types of things. If this is truly their "Pro" version, I wouldn't want to see their base model.

COULD NOT GET IT TO WORK

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After 30 minutes with their CS rep we both could not get it to get past the annoying step of moving the device around the house to find the best signal. This make no sense because you would have to unplug it, move it, then plug it back in and then go back through the whole setup process. I finally gave up and took it back to best buy and got the Google Nest and it was super easy to setup and works well.

    Amazed

I am amazed that people actually spend $500 for this garbage. Devices connect to the furthest eero in the house instead of the closest. Bandwidth through them sucks. My ring doorbell doesn't connect at times. My apple extreme worked 100% better. Support basically told me to reboot the different satellites to move things around which is useless cause now other devices are on the wrong satellite. What happened to the days a company made something that actually worked as described

    Unreliabe Connections for some devices

Bought last year with hope of setting up a reliable mesh network. Have had huge issues with consistent connectivity for some of the devices connected to the network. The sealed units have no ventilation and run very hot. Long for the days where Wifi connections are simple and reliable - Eero did not meet my expectations in that regard.

Couldn’t get our eero to set up, followed the online and app instructions, wouldn’t set up. Eero webpage said, “call us, we can help”. Waited on hold for over an hour. Horrible, horrible, horrible.
