Large, Heavy, not for everyone
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was excited waiting for this to come, but the initial setup was far more difficult than it should have been; problem with the BIOS required an hour on the phone with HP Tech Support, which was very helpful and fixed the issue, but a new, out of the box pc shouldnt have issues like that. Screen is decent, sound is decent, and once I updated everything and cleaned up the programs a bit, it ran well. Disappointed that a stylus was NOT included, and, after reading many of the reviews of the stylus, I wouldnt even consider buying one. If you are looking for a reasonably priced, large, heavy laptop, this will work for you; if not, keep looking..

Great laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Once I got everything squared away it ran well. I was having issues with some software. But I've not had it for 5 years and it's still going strong. Highly recommend.

Outstanding laptop!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This new HP laptop is incredible. I'll let other reviewers ramble on about the specs or you can read them yourself, but it is smokin' fast. Beautiful, sleek design, I love the color. The backlit keyboard has a great tactile feel to it, very responsive. The screen is excellent, the speakers are good, too, although I usually use headphones instead. Overall an impressive laptop and a great value for the money.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.casual user, have had for 4 yrs, spilled drink on it 2 yrs ago, lost keyboard completely, tried other day everything back to original, lol.touchscreen responsive, looks great, very modern.volume does go by itself sometimes, but after 4 yrs im sure that its microsoft, not laptop, only gets glitchy when i try different browsers than edge.i have dropped this laptop prob 4 or 5 times from 3 ft or more, never broke, cracked or stopped working, minor, very minor dents from falls.my laptop is close to bed ,i knock it off of my swivel arm holder.the only neg is color gamut could be much better, not accurate, miss deep blue, reds, greens

Wonderful Except for a Couple of Defects
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved pretty much everything about this laptop, such as its backlit keyboard, touchscreen, tablet-mode, very good B&O speakers, BUT a lot of this was overshadowed by a problem I had with the touchpad and wireless card. The WLAN card would not properly come online after the computer was asleep or hibernating. It was about a 50/50 chance every time the computer woke up that it would still be active, but then it would suddenly disappear from the computer and even from the Device Manager panel. I would have to fully reboot the computer to get it back online, which if I had webpages open would cause me to lose all my work. The touchpad occasionally freezes while working, but a quick tap of the touchscreen or of the keys fixes it. I still love the design and feel of the laptop, so I will be returning it as defective and seeing if a new one of the same model provides the same results.

Keep walking or better yet run.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Oh, HP what are you doing? Are you not looking at the competition? Well, when it comes to HP's ENVY 2-in-1 15.6" AMD Ryzen 5 touch screen laptop the competition is looking at HP - in the rear view mirror. On paper , this looks like a real winner with a lot performance per dollar. While that is true, there is a decent amount of performance ; it just is not enough. I am not going to go over all the specs, performance, blah , blah etc. You can find that on a multitude of sites. I want to talk about the look, feel and function in key categories. That is real world and what a consumer really is interested in . So let's take a look - Keyboard - Keyboard spacing if off center because of the number key pad on side. Just because it is a 15 inch laptop, you do not need to add a number key pad to take up space. Center the keyboard and change the spacing or put the speakers on each side of the keyboard instead of the top. I really do not like typing on this laptop. Maybe that is more because I am more used to other keyboards but I want you to think about something. This is a 2 in 1 so the intent is there are times you are going to use this in tablet mode and flip the screen open nearly 360 degrees to make it a tablet. Where are the keys when you are holding it? Right underneath your hands. Would it not make more sense to eliminate the numeric keypad and have a 2 inch border where you can hold onto without impacting the keys? Screen - The screen is 1080P and without any bezel to speak of. I found it to be clear but the colors were average at best. Screens have gotten so good that average is a good thing and this is barely making it.The screen just needs to be brighter and gets washed out if there is too much ambient light. I can say that compared to my 2012 Macbook Pro, there was noticeable difference in the brightness. The touchscreen was responsive and I had no issues with it. Touch pad - The touch pad was good, no complaints. It had a decent tactile feel and was large. Sound - Speakers are relatively clear for the spoken word but overall below average at best. They are just too weak. Why Bang and Olufsen continues to put their name on such on anything but the best speakers I will never understand. They are running their brand. Build - I keep seeing that this is an aluminum laptop online. It is not. It may look like aluminum but it is plastic. I do not mind plastic if it is well made and the fit and finish on this HP Envy 2 in 1 is pretty good. I would have liked it to be made of metal, it would have helped with durability and heat dissipation but I understand HP is trying to keep the price down. There have been some negative reviews on the two hinge design on this laptop not being strong enough. I found the design to be fully functional and appears to be robust , I really do not see any issues with it. The internal fan is always active. That is right - it never shuts off. Just degrees of less loud. Let me ask you, have you ever owned a laptop where the internal fan never shuts off? It's annoying and I would not buy a laptop on that alone. Uggh. Setup and software - I have not setup a new laptop in over a year or so. I was pleasantly surprised that Cortana takes you through the process. Definitely a cool and easy process. The laptop uses facial recognition to unlock it ( actually it's mostly part of Windows) and I really like that feature. After multiple software, BIOS and firmware updates, the system was up and running. I never understood why HP's always seem to go through so many updates on a new laptop, particularly BIOS. In reference to the BIOS, that is where things fell apart. I have seen other reviews that ran into this issue and I certainly did, the system will simply not update the BIOS. Everytime I restart, it tries to install a new image of the BIOS. They appear to install but fail. I have restarted multiple times and they have all failed. Additionally, after about an hour of use, the system started to hang and the pointer disappeared and reappeared. The fan was running at full speed so I wonder if it was heat related. Battery life - I did not test this but it was listed at 6.5 hours and the battery is on the small side for 15 inch laptop and sub-sub par to this product category. In summary, let's tally this up - screen : fail, keyboard : fail, sound : fail, software : fail. Compare that to the competition that if offering more for your money and less issues, this is a hard pass on this laptop. When it comes to laptops, you really need to go into a Bestbuy store and compare the brands and models. Play the sound on the ones you are interested in. Type on them. Compare this laptop to the Dell, Acer or Lenovo. There are plenty of competent HP laptops , albeit more money. I really cannot understand some of the positive reviews on this laptop. Anyone who has used multiple laptops or has one that is a few years old or less can easily see the issues here. There are many laptops in this price range that just do it better. Sorry HP, better luck next time.

Hp is getting good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow. Let’s just say I am impressed. The packaging is unique and very well done. I remember when PCs were just packed with anything and especially HP. Just unboxing it got me excited and that’s hard for someone to get me to do. I have a MacBook Pro 2017 and I love it but I will be using that for school work and etc. This HP will be used for me to have fun and use it for multiple occasions like connecting it to my projector, maybe some gaming, YouTube, Netflix and some other hobbies that I do. I am telling you this will not let you down. Setup was faster than anything. Actually it’s so fast I am selling my 2017 Lenovo desktop and Dell precision because I will have no use for them with this baby!

Heavy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer is much heavier than I thought it was going to be. The screen resolution is not that sharp, and I personally do not like how the keys feel when you type. Needless to say I will be returning this computer and finding one more suited to my needs. I understand now why it was on sale when I purchased online. Guess it's supposed to be good for gaming, but I'm not a gamer anyways. To each their own, but not a computer for me. I cannot recommend it.

Excellent
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just picked this up today after shopping around for months for a new comp. I wanted an i5 processor (this computer has an AMD Ryzen 5 which is equivalent) a SSD drive, and didn’t want to break the bank. Set up was easy, no endless cycles of windows updates to go though and there wasn’t a ton of bloatware to get rid of. Boots fast, loads programs fast, and loads multiple web pages fast. All in all, very happy so far.

#1 laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop to accompany my cricut machine and it was well worth it, I know I haven't even completely used this machine to its full potential but it is great and I will have many more wonderful things to come with this computer.

Fast, but heavy and touchpad issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is super fast and looks like a thin and sleek laptop. It is, but it is pretty heavy (almost 5 pounds) so keep that in mind. There are touchpad issues with this laptop... sometimes would work, sometimes wouldn't. I exchanged mine for a Asus Vivobook, which is fabulous and am using right now to write this review.

Wouldn’t recommend
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The computer is really good however it overheats and the screen goes completely black randomly. I’ve only had this computer for a few weeks. I don’t understand why it has good reviews. I’ve never had issues like this with any computer I’ve bought. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.

HP is in the past.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bluescreen No WiFi Overheat Terrible. I spent more than 4 hours with HP customer support Bestbuy exchanged it, very smooth process (just 4 days of purchase) but they didn’t have it in strock, so they will ship it to my house. I will update this review after I receive the new one.
