Terrible computer. Tried two different computers and returned twice. On phone with HP tech support for hours. Both continued to crash and be unresponsive. Don't buy!

    Wifi issues

This laptop sucks. I purchased this computer from a store near me in November and have been completely underwhelmed. Paying a premium for a product I expect premium results. This is not the case. The screen glare is awful, the fan is louder than my dishwasher, the battery life is sub par, and the power button light constantly blinks. All of these issues are not deal breakers, the deal breaker is that the wifi constantly drops out. As a college student with online classes and textbooks, this is an abolute disaster. I've lost internet connection during quizzes, tests, and homework. I was confident that the issue was the router or internet provider until I did some research and discovered this is a common issue with this product. DO NOT PURCHASE. Also, the transition between traditional use and tablet mode is buggy and the screen tries to rotate at a slight tilt.

Great laptop but has wireless issues

Honestly, this is a pretty solid laptop for the price. I'm an engineering student and needed a light, fast computer to run excel and do some (very) light CAD work on, and this computer does exactly that very well. Snappy processor, quick boot times, decent battery life, and a great value made this laptop a no-brainer. However, a few weeks after I got this laptop I started having the dreaded Wi-Fi issues that several others have had. I thought that with my engineering knowlede I'd be able to get this laptop back up and running in no time. But after a week of constant Wi-Fi dropouts and trying everything I could think of to fix it, I gave up and bought a cheap usb wireless adapter. I've had no issues for two months since then, except that if I need the Internet I'm basically down a usb port. From what I've read elsewhere it seems like it's a gamble on whether you'll get one of these with this issue, so I'd just make sure you're ready to buy a $10 adapter if it goes wrong. Overall, I'm satisfied with my purchase. Then again, I'm also fine with having to stick an adapter on a brand-new laptop. But for the price and performance I'll live with it.

    Great laptop with AMD Ryzen

I am a computer science student and this is a perfect laptop for me to haul around. It is extremely light-weight and portable but also packed with performance. I installed Linux Mint 19 as a dual boot and ran fine albeit some hiccup which is understandable due to new system architecture and hardware compatibility. My two key complaints for this laptop is not having the 16GB Ram option in Ryzen 7 2700U and the smooshy keyboard. Unfortunately, someone had broken into my car stole the laptop three days ago. With that said, I wish HP would have implemented some more security features in the BIOS. My old Dell laptop has features like Computrace and HDD lock etc.. Either way, this laptop deserves a good review so here it is.

    Second Times The Charm

I was really excited to get this laptop for my upcoming freshman year at college. All was well at first, but within one hour of playing on this HP I noticed the wifi couldn’t stay connected for more than 15 minutes. I tried to fix the problem but nothing helped. I went down to my local Best Buy and the kind people at Geek Squad told me my computer was likely defective. I reordered a new laptop and it arrived to me two days ago. So far everything is great! I’ve seen a few reviews speaking on the wifi issues, and I’m here to tell you it’s the luck of the draw. If you receive a good HP Envy, they’re definitely worth it!! Good alternative to the Macbook air with a cheaper price :)

So far so good, details page needs to be updated

So I've had this PC for about two weeks now(got it just before Labor day on sale for under $700). So far I have no complaints, this laptop is light and speedy. Battery has been up to par with the reviews I've read. I haven't had the Wifi connection issues that another user had(thankfully, that would drive me nuts too, just feel like he got a dud which can happen with any electronic). Low brightness another user mentioned hasn't been an issue either, it seems plenty bright for me but you may have a different brightness preferred. So like he said go to a store if you can to see it in person. Like someone else said this does not come with the HP stylus like some of the other Envy models do, also on the details page it says that this has an HDMI-out port, which it does not(just the 2 USB 3.0 and 1 USB-C port, which you can get an HDMI adapter for the C port, but it does not have an HDMI port built in like the details page says) Also the specs page lists none for graphics but this does have a built in Radeon Vega graphics(Ryzen 7 comes with Vega 10) Overall no big complaints, I actually haven't even noticed if the fan has even come on yet, I tried playing a bunch of Youtube videos for an hour and it did get a little warm but no noticeable loud fan. Haven't done any gaming on it yet, so can't comment on that. For the price I paid(<$700) I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

    One Glaring Issue

In many ways, this is the ideal laptop. It's small, light, powerful, and has everything you could need for a portable laptop that doesn't sacrifice performance. I would whole-heartedly recommend this laptop with 5 stars if it wasn't for one awful issue that ruined the entire experience for me: The screen is SHOCKINGLY dim. Not even in a pitch black room is the screen bright enough. I found myself consistently squinting, and it just was not going to work. To get a bit more specific, the screen goes to about 128 nits of brightness. For context, industry averages are between the low to mid 200's. This truly is shocking and is most likely this way to increase battery life (which is still quite low). Do yourself a favor and before buying online, go into the store and take a look for yourself to see if this will be a problem for you. It's a great laptop, but the screen brightness is a dealbreaker that forced me to return the computer.

    FANTASTIC small yet fast laptop

I had low expectations when I bought this computer, but wow oh wow is this thing incredibly nice. It's lightweight, it's got a great battery, it has a fantastic display (which I was worried about reading another review) which is also very bright and crisp, it's got great build quality and a sleek finish. It's very speedy. From bootup, to logging in with my face only took 6 seconds. I love this little thing! The keyboard is nice and soft, which is comfortable for long periods of typing. The buttons are also nice large full size buttons, which is nice. It has a backlit keyboard, but only on or off. The touch screen is fast, responsive, and beautiful. Speakers are AMAZING. I love music, so the quality that these speakers can output is honestly incredibly surprising. All in all, this is a GREAT student laptop. It's even powerful enough to play games, with the Ryzen 7 processor and the Vega 10 graphics card. But i don't play games, I just like a fast and speedy computer.

    Disappointing experience

I purchased the 13.3” HP Envy for the AMD Ryzen 7 processor and small size. Sad to say this laptop didn’t last me more than 3 hours. I had read reviews of a problem with constant disconnecting from WiFi with no solution and was hoping it would not happen to mine, but it did almost immediately. Being a college student I cannot risk losing WiFi in the middle of an exam. I even called HP support and after 20 minutes their best advice was to return the laptop and get a different model that does not have this common issue. Also in my brief experience with the laptop the fan would make noises and sounded like it was brushing up against something. Will not be getting another HP. Had the laptop not had these issues, it’s small size and interestingly abnormal processor would have been great.

Doesn't stay connected to wifi, freezes

I ran into issues with the device's wifi capabilities within the first month of purchasing the laptop, and tried anything and everything I could to fix it. My brother is in IT and he helped me along the way, troubleshooting and running all the tests imaginable. I refered to HP's forums as well, and nothing fixed the issue. Then the laptop black screened, saying "No Hard Disk found," to which I decided I should exchange it. I got it replaced with the same model, and the same WiFi issues kept occurring. I think it has to do with the update, too. The laptop also freezes often, causing me to lose all the data I worked on. I ended up returning the replacement and got a different laptop from a different brand.

MAJOR WiFi problems ruined a great laptop

So, I just bought this laptop yesterday as a college laptop, and I've already decided to return it. It looks like a great laptop from both customer reviews and professional reviews, and it lives up to what you would expect from them, but as soon as I hopped online, things went south. This laptop has a HUGE problem with dropping WiFi connections. One minute, you're connected and surfing the web, and the next you're disconnected from the WiFi all together. At the time of posting this, there were only 6 complaints here about this issue, but it turns out it's more widespread than that. Many people have been having this issue across the HP forums and other forum sites, with the usual troubleshooting tips yielding no results. It finally got bad enough that I decided to return it and look for a different laptop.

Beautiful and Sleek, Beware -Delicate Flower

Purchased for middle school-aged child and was so in love with the beautiful piece of sleek metal and glass that I forgot about the fundamental importance of sturdiness. The hinges for the 360 degree quickly misaligned and because I did not notice this until too late, my child forcibly closed the lid with the hinges misaligned (think thin metal tabs), which caused the glass screen to crack and shatter. Completely ruined. Yes, I bear responsibility for not monitoring, but this review is to remind others to think twice before purchasing this delicate flower that must be carefully handled.

Was a little worried by the couple of negative reviews about having a dim screen, bad touchpad etc. but this is all untrue, I often have brightness at mid power and the touchpad is very easy to use and accurate, no hiccups. I love this laptop. Very fast startup and operation.
