Luckily I bought the protection plan from Best Buy! I bought this computer as a replacement for an ASUS that had a hardware problem just weeks into purchasing! It is a much better computer!

This should have been a five start. One star off for initial hitches. For some unknown reason, the laptop would go off sometimes, when connected to power supply during use. But after a while, it stabilized.

I just purchased an HP after being dissatisfied with my Lenovo. I like that it seems sturdier just wish the mouse wasn't so sensitive. I'm a quick typer and sometimes my cursor ends up in strange places.

Got the computer, very nice, looked like it would be everything I needed and then some. Barely worked after I got it home. Did not want to stay on, kept freezing, very "buggy." Disappointed at the amount of money spent just to be let down. Luckily, I had a good experience taking it back and trading it in, hence the one star.

This is a great laptop that fits the need of a casual user and a power user. It hits the sweet spot. It is very responsive with the track pad and comfortable to use. Has plenty of hardware under the hood for medium to heavy tasks and it has a premium feel to it.

My HP was a great choice! It works great and I've never had any problems with it. When I bought it, I had fried my previous one, and the customer service when I went in was great. They were able to move all of my data over to my new laptop and were super nice!

Bought for college bound son, it works very nicely. Thin profile fits in backpack easily and it seems to have a pretty fast processor. He likes the tablet mode and touch screen effect.

A solid laptop, with a few flaws

After my old Surface Pro 2 kicked the bucket, I needed a replacement device for when I go back to university. I decided I wanted to go with a laptop instead of a surface simply because kickstands are a bit uncomfortable for me to use, so I started looking around. After considering several options from various brands, I spontaneously went with this device after seeing specs that seemed too good to be true. As soon as I got my paycheck, I headed to my local Best Buy and bought this. I've been using this laptop for about two weeks now and here are my thoughts: The design of the laptop is very well executed, with a comfortable keyboard that is sure to be good for typing long essays, and a numeric keypad which many laptops seem to be lacking. The trackpad is a good size, and is overall very accurate, with only a few mis-clicks every now and then. The display is bright, though I wouldn't use it outdoors simply because the screen is on the reflective side of things. Windows Hello also makes signing in as easy as could be, and I seldom had any issues with it. Another great thing about this laptop is the speakers, which in short, are fantastic as far as laptop speakers go. I keep them at about 45% volume and find that to be comfortable, and any higher starts to get a bit too loud. Unfortunately, there are several negatives to this PC--some minor, and some major. For starters, as soon as you boot up for the first time and set-up Windows, you're greeted with LOADS of bloat. I'm not talking about the default HP apps, because some of those are actually helpful (3D driveguard and Coolsense are must-haves in my opinion). I'm talking about programs such as McAfee Anti-virus, which bogs the system down, and whose creator has said is a total garbage program. The system also contains various games that I had no interest in, as well as advertisements to websites pinned to the start menu. Ultimately, I removed these applications. Battery life is mediocre. With battery saver turned on, I get about 5 hours of browsing the web and very light gaming. This PC also gets rather noisy. The fans are spinning most of the time, and although usually they're quiet enough. they can get loud. Almost as loud as my 10 year-old desktop PC to be specific. This might be because it uses AMD hardware, which although is very good, I've read it runs on the hotter side. The hard drive also can be a bit noisy, but usually I don't have any problems with that. Where I did have a major problem, is when I messed something up and needed to reset the PC. The system comes with about 16 GB partitioned for recovery, and so when I decided it was best to start from scratch, I used the HP software to recover. To be frank, the HP recovery software is total garbage. After about two hours and two-thirds of the way through the process, it gave me an error message saying that it didn't have permission to access the hard drive, which is a MAJOR problem, because that left me with a non-functioning OS, and no way to recover anything on the laptop itself. Luckily, I had access to another PC, and was able to download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft to use to install Windows onto the system, which thankfully after over 15 hours of headaches with the HP recovery, worked beautifully. There is no excuse for built in recovery software to not work. If you buy this laptop, I would highly recommend purchasing an 8 or 16 GB flash drive with it and immediately downloading Microsoft's Media Creation Tool to create a recovery USB. In fact, I'd say it's necessary. This laptop overall, is a very well built machine, and has very few flaws. It was able to handle what I threw at it (1080p video editing in Premiere Pro, Photoshop, smooth framerates in Civ V), and has many features that are very useful, some of which I didn't mention in my review. What keeps this good laptop from being great though, is the software that comes with it. If I didn't have to use a separate computer to save this one from becoming a brick, I would be very content with this laptop. Unfortunately, due to the problems I did have, I can't help but feel a little on edge for the coming years in which I use this PC.

I bought as a early graduation present and he loved it. Super impressed. I bought a more expensive version, HP Sceptre, (which is still a very nice computer but just a steeper pricetag) and wish I had bought this one instead.

I'm very disappointed with this laptop. It's slow, the track pad is awful, and the power button placement on the side of the laptop makes it easy to accidentally hit it and turn off your computer. The laptop doesn't have a good battery and even though it has 1 TB of storage, it's incredibly slow and so EVERYTHING takes forever to load. Lastly, the track pad came loose so now it makes an annoying sound when I put my finger on it. The only good thing about the laptop is that it does have a good touchscreen that is actually fairly responsive and makes drawing with a stylus nice. The only reason that I got a new laptop in the first place was so that I could draw on it for taking notes in college. Like I said, this laptop has a pretty good touch screen, but be careful what you wish for. HP put all of the budget for this laptop into the screen and none into its processor, storage, RAM, or track pad. I recognize that this computer was never going to outperform a MacBook Pro, but I didn't think it'd be this bad. Unfortunately, I think I'm passed my 30 days for returning it so I'll have to deal with this mediocre laptop.
