Electrical Issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop looked great and I loved the features, but right away the sound was not working properly and cut in and out. After a week the sound was crackling all of the time and the box attached to the cord was so hot I couldn't even touch it. I retured the laptop to the store.

decent device; put down by spinning disk
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very solid machine for its price; but the spinning disk is a let down; a clear bottleneck. my advice wait for a machine with the nvme (or if you are good in upgrades you can swap it; but if you add the cost of an nvme drive, it might be as good investment vs a 8th gen intel laptop). upgradeability should be good on paper, but a bit cumbersome to open as you have to remove rubber feet to get to some screws and memory is not user accesible according to hp documentation. On the positive, screen is nice and keyboard is OK, but you have to adjust to have it offcenter due to numpad. minor annoyance: the palm rest deck has two tiny rubber-bumps I guess to prevent the screen to touch the keyboard when closed, but I keep getting them pressed against my hands when typing. I have to adjust the angle of my hands. trackpad is just OK, often takes two clicks to register but it could be me that has to adjust. CPU speed is nice, cinebench prints just at the 6700HQ level about 614 points for the CPU. GPU is not for gaming but decent otherwise. In adobe premiere, I was impressed by playback speed, almost not dropping any frames playing 4k footage (out of an external disk).

Really good options included for the money
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a really stunning looking machine. Elegant dark gray with brushed chrome accents, super thin. It has a full width, backlit keyboard with solid action on all keys and a wider and thinner touchpad that has a unique look to it. It comes with three USB ports (one of them is USB-C), a card reader, an HDMI port and a headphone jack. The sound is by Bang & Olufsen. I haven't heard this name in a long time and great to see they are still around. The sound is no less than amazing. I would go as far as to say it's the best sounding laptop I have ever heard. I would guess that most people are just used to tinny sounding little speakers on laptops these days, and like myself, don't expect a lot in that department, but the sound was a nice surprise and refreshing to see included at this price. The speakers are on top, right above the keypad, not shoved on the front edge or on the sides. Plenty of bass and volume. The screen is beautiful at 1920 x 1080, and is seamlessly incorporated into the top panel. This is the first laptop I can honestly say it was a pleasure to watch a movie on. It comes pre-loaded with the things you might expect plus Netflix and Paint 3D. The 1TB hard drive is nice but a solid state drive would have been better. Although for this price hp did cram a lot into this machine. An SSD would have really increased the price. The 8GB of memory is adequate, but this too could have been larger. The AMD processor seems quicker than most I've used and all in all, the performance is good, although the speed is not going to knock your socks off. But if you use the machine for the basics, like most people will, or you're a student that wants a larger size screen for word processing etc., it will do just fine. I think for the price of this laptop, you actually get quite a bit, and unless you're looking for a gaming machine or a professional business machine where speed is the number one priority, you'll be quite happy with the included options. It has a really nice selection of things that you wouldn't think would be included in a machine at this price. I really like it.

Fantastic Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great speed, good amount of memory, and a great display. It has a good back venting system so overheating is not an issue. The 7200RPM HDD isn't that easy to overwhelm, and the 8G of RAM is just enough for anything although 16 would be preferred. Great looking display and a bonus of a touchscreen. I'm a firm fan of AMD and this laptop does not disappoint.

Everything I needed in a laptop.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased laptop on 12/2/17 and I love it. I installed Flight Simulator x with everything turned up getting 30fps at 1080p. Cinebench r15 score is 600 and passmark 9 is also impressive at a cpu score of 8343. During benchmarks laptop temp high was 86c and the fan blowing full and noticeably noisy. Temperatures quickly dropped to 48c when benchmark ended. A cooling pad brought benchmark temp down to 78c. Laptop did lockup trying to run futuremark 3D 2003 benchmark. I had to do a hard reset by holding down the power button for 5 seconds. The hard drive is fast enough for me loading Flight Simulator x within 10 seconds. Speaker sound is very good great for games and listening to YouTube videos. I installed clear rubber cabinet bumpers in the four corners of the laptop to raise it up on a flat surface for airflow and purchase a wireless mouse. I don't like touch pads. I had to buy an external DVD drive to install my older programs. Overall I am very happy with my laptop.

Good Value 2-in-1
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far so good. As with any laptop, if it does what it is supposed to do then there isn't really much to say. For what I use it for, this laptop was more than capable. I am able to stream and watch videos without problems and the graphics was rather good although the picture display lighting was dimmer than I would like. The Bang & Olufsen speakers were more than capable of filling a small room with hi-def sound and made watching videos and playing games that much more enjoyable. On the downside, the 2-in-1 seems a bit heavy and the batteries sure didn't last as long as it claimed to be able to last. I personally get around 6 hours or so of charge. Other than that I believe the AMD Ryzen 5 chipped laptop offers better value than similar 2-in-1 laptops that utilizes an Intel chip.
