Epson changed the strategy dealing with printer. Tankless printer is a bit expensive upfront but the ink in the future is much cheaper because you don’t have to buy ink cartridges. The cartridge can last 6000-7500 pages which should be enough for a home users 2-3 years. Printer quality is excellent but the touchscreen is a bit small. The scanner cannot do duplex scanning. Overal, this is a great printer

Easy to install - even easier to use. Be sure to go through the online set up so as not to miss any options to making your experience the best ever. Great pictures too! I've been buying Epson printers for 20 years and this one is by far the best.

This Eco Tank printer works great. The ink usage is much less then the last ink jet with cartridges. Prints text and pictures very vividly for our frequent home use. It's user friendly for my sometime technology challenged husband

Bad Wireless Antenna - Light Printing

I've been using Epson ecotank printers for 10 years with my small printing business. I print at least 30 full color pages everyday. They used to be awesome, but this past year they are TERRIBLE. Their WIFI antenna keeps disconnecting from my very strong signal. Sometimes it works fine but mostly it gives me a super slow print out or cancels after printing half way. I called customer service. They have an option to select specifically for WiFi issues, which means they are receiving a lot of calls about it already. The only thing they could tell me was move the printer closer to the router. (it's only 30 ft away) I don't suggest buying an Epson printer until they fix their WIFI antennas. Second issue I have, they are printing much lighter than they used to. I print the same photo with the HP and it is vibrant beautiful and true to color. (yes I have both printers at my home office) I print it with the Epson and it is faded, almost unsellable. I called and they told me there is no way to ask the machine to print darker. This is already on BEST and HIGH. I love that their ink price is low per sheet but it's not worth the headache. I need it to function and not take my entire day to troubleshoot each time. I used to recommend this product hands down all day long - but they really have gone downhill with this year's set. I have tried the 3000 series as well as the 4000 series ecotanks. Here is Epson's tech support 562.276.4382 Good Luck.

It's a little loud, but it's a great product for the price point. It's too new to give a lengthy review, but it certainly is working well!

Very happy with this printer. Print, copy, scan directly using printer touch screen, laptop, iPhone (print), or thru Epson SmartApp. This printer offers many features of which many more to try. So far a very satisfied customer. As an FYI: the mentioned USB port is USB-B!!

Epson ecotanks are the only way to go if you want consistent reliable printers without fussing with very expensive cartriges. Very reliable and highly recommended. So far I have purchased 3 of them. One for my mom and one for my brother. Its fun to email print jobs via email to send them messages. Very convenient.

I got this to replace an older eco tank ET-2750, which last until the heads wore out after 6 years or so. I like the tray holder for the paper- keeping the paper flat, and lets you load more paper at once. I like the feeder option too to scan more than one page at a time instead of having to lift the scanner lid and replace pages on the flatbed. I haven’t tried photo prints yet. Pro - no stinking cartridges! Con- still can’t empty the waste ink tank. Kinda pricey but got a coupon for recycling the older model.

I read a lot of reviews before deciding to buy this printer, so I entered the realm of EcoTank ownership with eyes wide open. Now, I have to say, "I love, love, love this machine!" I think anyone who disparages this printer must not have read or researched what this printer is capable of doing or its limitations. As long as you understand the limitations, you should be happy with this printer too. The only other recommendation I could offer is, if you want to be able to do certain tasks (i.e., double sided printing, copying, scanning, etc), ask somebody who knows if the ET-4850 can do whatever it is you want to be able to do. Be precise and specific in explaining your desired task, and then buy (or not) accordingly based on the answer(s) you get. I rated this printer 4-stars for the Ease of use category, because the touch screen is small, and my fingertip is huge, by comparison, so I have to be extra careful when making selections on-screen. This minor nuisance is an acceptable trade-off for getting a truly versatile printer. One last comment: I used a standard phone line to connect the ET-4850 to my Xfinity modem/router, and I have not experienced any problems sending/receiving faxes. The printer basically used its wizard to test the fax connection and line and then set everything up with no input from me. Can't get any easier than that.

BEWARE of firmware updates for this printer!

This printer is relatively easy to set up and so far (about 10 days) it performs admirably well. The reason I give it only 3 stars is because after the first printer I received was up and functioning well, I got a message to install new firmware. This requires connecting a USB B printer cable to your computer. For whatever reason, the install was interrupted and the result was that despite trying the various ways proposed by both Epson and You-Tube I could not get the printer unfrozen. I spoke with Epson techs and they advised me that the only solution was to return the device and get a replacement. Rather than follow the complex requirements of returning the device to them, I went directly to Best Buy and they handled the return and replacement swiftly and with no hassle whatsoever. This is why I buy such products from Best Buy, not directly from the manufacturers: No hassle returns.

Purchased to replace an older HP OfficeJet Printer that is no longer supported. The ET-4850 has a small footprint compared to my HP unit which is nice. Setup was very easy and the print quality is excellent. Only reason I gave a rating of 4 stars is that you cannot scan front and back on documents automatically.
