Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the EcoTank ET-4850's print quality, ease of use, and straightforward setup. Many appreciate its compact size. While some users find the noise level a bit high and have experienced challenges with the document feeder and scanning functions, the positive feedback on printing and ease of use outweighs these concerns for most. A few customers also mentioned the printer's price point as a potential drawback.

Pleasantly Pleased with Customer Service & Printer

Best Buy customer service, excellent! Easy ordering, instant notifications on order and delivery. Delivery faster than expected. So far, the Epson Printer (ET-4850) exceeding expectations , as well. Printer set up easy and quick. Print quality is better than a Canon ink tank printer I replaced it with. Speed is good. Noise is a bit more than the Canon but considering all other functioning, it's acceptable. Much more easy to use and set operational parameters for each printing job. Time will help me fully evaluate since I've only had it for a short time.

    Epson, You Can Do Better

Even though I bought this on sale, remember the MSRP is $500 and I expected a quality well-built solid printer from the Epson brand. Imagine my surprise when it was unpacked and discovered how flimsy the paper feed tray, the output tray, and ADF tray were. They trays did not slide smoothly or easily and the paper guides were wafer thin and stuck when adjusting paper width Plus the feed tray cannot be removed from the printer to add paper. You must open a drawer at the end of the tray to load the paper. I was also disappointed the 4850 would not do automatic two-sided copies. This is the first Epson I had that did offer this feature. Regardless, the print copy is good and does surprisinlgly well with photos even though it is not a true photo printer. Set up was relatively easy. Also nice to get away from over-priced cartridges. In short, this printer is a glass half full purchase. Print quality is good, even for photos, and reasonably quick. Build quality is a weak point so long-term life is a question mark. Lack of automatic two-sided copying, especially at this price point cheats the customer. Epson, you can and should do better. At this price point, with its questionable build quality and lack of auto duplex copying it is hard to give the 4850 a passing grade for my use

Photos Take a LONG Time to Print

Overall, this printer (ET-4850) is pretty easy to set up & start using (approx. 20 - 25 minutes, with the ink tanks taking about 10 minutes to "load". And this uses up some of the ink, too). If you use it mostly for B&W printing, you should be very happy with it. Printing of most colors is also pretty straight-forward, with excellent quality. However, if you print a lot of PHOTOS, be warned that it takes a LONG time for just one 8.5 x 11 photo to print (a few minutes). If printing photos is a big part of what you use a printer for, I highly recommend going with one of the higher-end Epson liquid ink printers.

This is my fourth Epson printer for the officers and I really like the way they work. The color is spot on, easy to set up, wireless, light, and the Supertank is a great solution to the headache HP expensive cartridges. And the ink lasts a long time. The printer has its quirks like any printer but its easy to google the fix and its simple.

Good printer for small home office

I needed a home office printer that provides color printing, scanning and faxing. I also wanted one that would reduce the cost of ink as much as possible while providing good quality printing and long term reliability. After reading a number of reviews I decided to purchase this printer. None of the printers at this price point are perfect, but this one seemed to have the highest overall ratings and the fewest reports of serious problems that tend to plague these printers (e.g., paper jams) I have had it for about a month and am very happy. Set-up was easy using the phone based app. Print quality is good, and much faster than the old Brother all-in-one ink jet printer it replaced. Best Buy gave me $50 off the purchase price for recycling my old, non-working printer. Epson claims the individual ink bottles (one is required to fill a reservoir) are equivalent to 90 individual ink cartridges. The black reservoir can print up to 7500 pages and the color can print up to 6000 pages. I have not had a chance to test that claim but I have printed approximately 50-75 pages since buying the printer and have noticed only a slight decrease in the ink in the black reservoir. The cost for a new set of refill bottles is approximately $60 - which is not much more than I was paying for as set of much lower capacity cartridges for my old Brother printer. Based on this I am hopeful that this printer will be much less expensive to operate. Overall I am very satisfied with this printer and recommend it without reservation.

Best budget choice for sublimation printing. The amount of ink I’ve used versus the number of prints I have done is amazing. The price is well worth the quality. I’m glad with the purchase all around.

I’m very happy with this Epson EcoTank ET-4850. Setup was fast and the ink system is amazing—super easy to fill and so much more cost-effective than traditional cartridges. The print quality is sharp for both documents and photos, and it runs quietly. The wireless connection works smoothly across all my devices. Highly recommend for home or small office use!

Me: I use this printer maybe 2-3 times per week. Every and then, I run it like crazy printing gift tags. Reprinting gift tags. I use full color most of the time. I don't use it for work. I'm a retired stay at home mom. It's all about the refillable ink tanks! My printer is 2 years & 3 months old. I haven't had to refill a tank yet. Zero times! All four tanks are still about half full. Print quality is good. I haven't had great results printing photos. But, I'm not good about making sure the settings are correct for the quality I need. This thing can probably do tricks I've never heard of. For me, it's all about not having to replace ink cartridges all the time. Let's say it's Thursday night at 9:30. You're trying to print up 6 copies of something you need for a meeting the next morning at 9AM. The magenta cartridge runs out of ink, but you can still see a bit in there. And besides, you're just printing a B&W doc. But, NOOOOOOO. Your printer starts printing wacky looking black print. You look in the drawer where you keep your extra cartridges. You have EVERY COLOR except magenta. Ugh. You get the idea. I way over-thought this purchase because of the price. This printer is well on its way to paying for itself. Just do it.

It is a good printer. Most of the time it has no difficulty printing black and accurate bright colors. With some print jobs, they don’t print correctly. Such as the print is too large for the 8 1/2” x 11” or it doesn’t print at all. What makes this printer exceptional, is the ink. The ink seems to go on forever. I print often and included the color on most print jobs.

For the price it can not be beat. I have used HP most of my life. I have had there color units and when I needed a new unit a HP was not available so I ordered a Epson. I had both unit side by side and when I compared them it was not even a contest the Epson was much more superior in color interpretation. I use it daily in my painting business--would not be without it.

Excellent printer!! I'm so glad I chose the Epson!! I've had two Epsons before this one and the've all worked wonderfully. Changing ink is a snap with this one and the print is beautiful. The only thing I'd say negative is that I'm sorry I'm only needing one printer so I'm limited to wearing one out at at time which takes a long time!

Everything about this EcoTank ET-4850 is great with one exception; the size of the display screen. I literally have to use a magnifying glass every time I need to look at the display screen, which is often. The screen is plenty bright and the graphics are good. However, the screen is just way too small. Other than that, this is a great piece of gear. It prints fast and the quality of the prints are sharp and crisp. The included ink lasts forever and is so much better than the old school cartridges. Not to mention, there is never any ink mess to clean up. I also like the fact that you can load a few hundred pages of paper in the paper cartridge. Another great feature is this machine's small foot print. It's very quite, also. Some printers sound like an automobile factory during the printing process. Not this one. I wanted the black version, but when I need mine, white was only available. The color of the printer was not really a deal breaker for me, but I just think the black looks stealthier and more modern. That is really subjective, though. At least white is much easier to see at night when the lights are low and that is a big plus. All in all, I'm very happy with this All-In-One device. It does everything it is supposed to do and does it well. It's a little on the pricey side, as with everything else these days, but I'm happy I spent the money. I researched every printer out there by every different brand and I came to the conclusion that this ET-4850 was the best bang for the buck and would serve my needs, accordingly. If it were not for that tiny display, this machine would be worthy of 5 stars. I almost want to give it 5 stars, anyway because this device is really a nice piece of gear in every respect. But if I'm being 100% honest, I have to give a 4 star rating, solely, due to that small hard to see display. If you have perfect vision, the display may not be an issue for you. In that case, buy an Epson ET-4850. You'll be glad you did!
