    I've owned better printers. It can be difficult to operate and figure out what goes where. You get what you pay for.

    It was literally 29 days into having the printer when the problems started. Paper would be jammed, printing would be smeared, and then paper feed would not be recognized. The customer service number was a joke and - after being on hold for over 20 minutes - and even though it was under warranty no one would help. Stay away from this brand. Also my worst bestbuy experience ever.

    This is a review for the Epson Expression Home XP-440 Small-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. I have used and owned multiple printers from various manufacturers but this is the first Epson printer I have used at home. The product is well packaged in minimal packaging. Setup was very straight forward and I was able to join the device to our home Wi-Fi network very simply and quickly. I was able to setup the printer and print direct from an iPhone (without installing any custom software! :)) within a few minutes and are very impressed with the results. The device has a small footprint and is very sleekly designed, I like the fact that all the trays, feeder and the LCD display fold in when not in use and this can fit within the home comfortably and not look out of place. The printer arrives with the required four cartridges (one black, cyan, magenta and yellow), which I hope over time offers better economy than other printers I've used which only have two types of cartridge. I'm still putting the printer through its paces so haven't exhausted the cartridges it ships with yet. The printer comes with a pack of different types of paper so it's easy to explore and try printing different types of media, e.g. photos and documents. Print speed is good, even when printing in Quiet Mode (handy utility when in confined spaces). Scanning and copying has been very straight forward and most importantly doesn't need another device to initiate it, it can all be performed from the control panel and there are even options to do this from mobile devices. Overall with the very reasonable RRP and the cost of replacement cartridges, this printer offers a great setup experience, value for money and a very sleek product which doesn't look out of place in the modern home.

    I have to clean the print heads everytime I go to print. Even then it usually only makes it past one page before there are lines in the pages and the ink gets very faint. This is with brand new ink carts as well.

    I returned this printer and exchanged it for a Canon. I wasn’t very happy with the picture quality.

    I bought this printer because of the sale price and a couple of positive reviews. This printer left me very disappointed!! Hoping I can return it without a box. Prints soooo slow. Only positive thing about it is it’s wireless capabilities. Other than that, not a fan at all. Was hoping I would be though. Printing off a phone is worthless too.

    My printer ran out of ink, but I did not need to print anything anymore, so I did not refill. I was angry and disappointed to learn that, without ink, this scanner will not function. That's right: even if you just want to SCAN, you have to have ink in the cartridges. Terribly flawed product.

    This is a review for the Epson Expression Home XP-440 Small-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. However, I depend on online product reviews and am posting my honest impressions. Unboxing, ink installation and setup were simple and went quickly. You can install the printer using WI-FI (my choice) or connecting directly to your computer by USB (cable not included). Epson includes an installation disc but I elected to download the latest package from their site. The printer found my network, I input my password on the printer’s screen (found entering the digits a bit laggy) and then was good to go. Included are four “standard” ink cartridges that are expected to provide in the neighborhood of 175 black and white pages or 165 in color. The printer is currently being offered online at prices around $60. One consideration is that a complete set of replacement “standard” ink could cost around $40 (or more). Does that make this a “disposable” printer (i.e., if the printer comes down in price before the ink does, it might almost makes sense to buy a new printer rather than new ink)? I find it amazing that one can buy a compact and lightweight device for $60 that prints, scans and copies. I have numerous Epson printers, have come to expect excellent quality results and the XP-440 does not disappoint. Using Wi-Fi, you can locate the printer almost anywhere and there’s no “power brick” to clutter your desk or table. The printer accepts SD cards so you can scan to a memory card if you don’t want to scan directly to your computer. The printer holds up to 100 sheets. As with my other Epson printers, you can print from any device and even email to your printer’s unique address and the printed paper will pop out of your XP-440. Even at such a low price, the printer features a 2.7 inch LCD screen for navigation and photo previews. The screen and control panel pivots to make it easier to view. I currently use an Epson WF-4630 in my home office. That machine is a monster that holds tons of paper, prints much faster and faxes (who faxes anymore?). If I didn’t own that printer, I would find it hard to resist the price and features of the XP-440. Can you tell I was impressed?
