Firmware updates will not allow you to use aftermarket ink cartridges and will disable the printer if they are detected.

Other brands of ink cartridges, and ink supplies, are not compatible, and even if described as compatible, may not function properly. Please ensure you have installed genuine Epson cartridges. Image bumps to the right every couple of inches. Printer has no clue on how to print a #10. I have to use "user-defined" settings to correctly print a #10 envelope. This was a bad purchase.
