    The Worst Printer I Have Ever Owned!

    I've been using Epson printers for many many years. And each one is worse than the last but still excellent in terms of print quality. But not this time. This was meant to be a replacement for an Artisan 1430 and it is AWFUL. Through lots of trial and error and wasted paper and ink I get it to do the very basic printing I need for periods of time. And then it stops working and I have to go through the process again. And as far as printing artwork and photos, it is a total piece of crap. I have NEVER gone online to give a bad review, only positive ones. For me to be writing this, you need to know that I am incredibly angry and frustrated I bought this thing, and the next level up is a big jump up in price, from my point of view. Epson did not make this machine to last. They made it to fail so you will replace it in a year or two. Mine did not last 6 months. It is only a matter of time before it fails for you.

    This unit is intended as a replacement for my Artisan 1430. I realize it has a completely different price point [I could buy 4 of these for what I paid for the Artisan 14 years ago] and I didn't have too high of expectations... but The box was damaged, it looked as if it had something heavy set on it. It appeared to have been opened and poorly resealed. The unit appeared undamaged and connected to my system with no problem. The automatic catch tray, extended and jammed. It had been pulled all the way out and then jammed back into place. Though I was able to clear the error, the automatic aspect of the catch tray is not working. The paper tray is very flimsy. Even when installed correctly, it still feels as if it needs to be pushed in a little further. The large format feeder on the back of the unit is cheap plastic. The gray latches have too much slop in their action and as a result it is likely the unit will move when being used and when it moves, the paper will jam - everytime The controls are current state Epson - lcd panel with arrow navigation, easy to use and the control panel flips up for easy access. Ink went in easily. Print quality is poor. I spent 2 hours attempting to dial in the quality. It never matched the image on the screen [yes, I *did* calibrate the monitor - thanks!] The image was very washed out with significant color distortion [yellows for orange, orange for red. purple for blue]. I was printing directly from Photoshop using Epson Premium Glossy Paper [this is part of our design business - we print Archival Quality Giclee 13 x 19 prints of original art work]. Finally after 2 hours + of tweaking settings, I got a print which was only a "little bit off" but it was totally pixelated. Color me unhappy. Caveat emptor - you get what you pay for - in this case, this is probably a great hobbyist printer, however, if you are looking for something a bit more, I can only hope my experience is an outlier and yours will be better.

    Mac Users be warned...

    A decent enough hobby level/personal photo printer for the price point. It was recommended to me as a reasonable price and ability to be used for a Mac based graphic design shop for in-house proofing etc. It does adequately enough using Adobe Creative Cloud products IF you know how to work around the terrible Epson printer drivers for Mac. The other main downside is the colors tend to be over-bright/saturated so not really that great a choice for in-house proofing.

    Nice print quality, poor durability/customer serv

    Purchased this printer several years ago. Loved the print quality, especially at this price point. Ink is pricey (6 separate cartridges) but knew that going in. However, after replacing the ink cartridges only a few times, it appears in this latest iteration a small piece in the cartridge receiving tray for an individual cartridge fractured and broke off. Ink cartridge is not recognized by printer and renders the printer completely useless. Part appears to be under-engineered for its purpose. Have owned multiple printers and never had issues replacing cartridges on any of them. Online customer service very un-helpful. They ask for pictures documenting the issue and after receiving them say sorry, online help cannot help, close the case and tell you to call them instead. Will not recommend this to other users based on my experience.

    Terrible horizontal banding

    Great photo quality, but banding begins after about 1 month of normal use. I tried contacting epson support and they told me essentially, "good luck, nothing we can do to help". Frustrating.

    stopped working within a week. heads were partially clogged out of the box. fatal error after doing a head clean. arrived in 6 days, but return window was only 2 weeks. do not recommend

    Horrible printer, cant do color well

    Not a great printer i ask for it to print in high quality color but it gives me horrible results for the colors and cant do what i bought it for.
