I received the free sample of the Epson Fast Foto FF640 photo scanning system in exchange for a written review. I was excited to receive the scanner as I had just gotten back from a vacation and had numerous photos to scan and share with family and friends. The set up was easy and the photos scanned very fast. I also like the feature where you can scan both sides of the photo which was nice to have with my old photographs of my parents who are no longer living. It is nice to save their handwritten notes on the back of some of my old photos. I absolutely love this scanner!

I had an absolute ton of family photos (lots of different sizes) that I had been putting off scanning for years. I purchased a flatbed scanner a while back, but it was too slow, cumbersome, and despite my best attempts at keeping everything clean, scans were always full of dust flecks. It really put a halt on my scan project. The FastFoto scanner ended up being just what I needed to finally get through the project! Setup was quick and easy. The unit itself seems really solid. In my experience, it scanned 4x6 photos at 300 dpi (2-sided scans, mind you) in about 2 seconds each. 600 dpi only took 3 seconds each. This is a HUGE improvement over my flatbed scanner, and the resulting photos look great (very little dust shows up on the images)! Although I only scanned 4x6, 5x7's and other miscellaneous sized photos, it can handle 8x10's, 8.5x11's, and even large panoramas. It scans the photos straight through the machine, no bending of the photos - that should help to minimize any jamming (and damage to your precious photos). I was very impressed with the scanning software as well, it is very easy to use. If you want it to, it will prompt you before each scan job for a date and description of your scan batch, and it will also generate subfolders for your photo batches. If you provide a date, it actually embeds it in the photo in the "Date Taken" metadata field, which makes it easy to organize and sort through your photos. You can modify the date in the program as well, if you need to fine-tune or fix any dates. It can also automatically create a second copy of the photo with edits like enhancing the photo, fixing color balance, or removing redeye. Super handy! You can also apply the same fixes after the fact, as well as rotate the images. This thing let me finish my scan project in no time whatsoever! I'm really impressed with it. Price-wise, this is a fairly expensive unit. That said, if you have a ton of photos to scan and you value your time (and not having to pull out your hair while scanning using slower solutions), this is the scanner that you need! Scanner is an excellent office tool. The quality of this scanner can be seen immediately from the first scan. It saves so much time as it scans both sides of your photos graphs so no more missing identification hints on the back side of your photographs. I organize a lot of my family's photos to digitize them and I cannot express enough how much time this product has saved me! This scanner is very easy to use and especially to assemble. Installing the software was not a problem. Directions very easy to follow for prepare your photos to be scanned. I love this because I will be able to save all the pictures from generation before me for my kids. I will put them all on a data stick and keep in a safe so they will be protected. I did receive this sample and write an honest review.

This is a review for the Epson FastFoto 640 that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. This is a great little scanner. Quick and easy to use. Not the best with documents but does a great job with photo scans. I would recommend to anyone who needs to do a quick batch scan of printed photos for archiving. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who just needs a document scanner as I think this thing is calibrated more for photo, but it does get the job done either way. All in all, a great product from my experience with it in the past couple of weeks.

I bought this scanner to digitize my family's photos when my grandmother passed away recently. The ideas behind the product are good - it goes quickly, it automatically straightens and crops the photos, and it even scans the notes on the back. Unfortunately it has a problem with dust that has caused me endless hours of frustration. Plan on checking every single photo for white lines (the darker the photo, the worse the problem) and feeding them back through until you get it right. You're supposed to clean the rollers every so often with a micro fiber cloth, and that can help, but there are numerous rollers inside the scanner and it can be very difficult to find the piece of dust causing the problem. I've tried using compressed air, tape, and a vacuum to get the rollers clean, all with mixed results - you never know when the white lines will show up again. Overall, this had so much potential but the dust flaw sinks it for me, all the convenience is pretty much wiped out. For a scanner this expensive, I expect it to work correctly on a consistent basis, and I certainly can't say that about th FF-640.

I have setup, used and installed software for many printers, all-in-one devices as well as scanners. Nothing comes close to the out of box experience with this Epson FastFoto scanner. I literally had everything working within the course of 10 minutes from opening the box, unpacking, downloading and installing software, to scanning a pack of 4 x 6 photos into a batch. I thought the ease of use would stop at that point. When I started using the scanning software, I noticed a huge hurdle Epson has overcome. Being able to scan multiple photos in a batch, while naming it a simple nomenclature and being able to modify the date of each picture. To add to the already easy to use software, there is an auto enhance and red eye removal feature. Every step of the way I was impressed by the level of detail made for scanning my photo memories from when I was a child. I have thousands of pictures to scan and have started scanning the first few hundred. If you have been searching for a quality, compact, high speed scanner for your photos or documents, you do not have to look any further than this Epson FastFoto 640. I love this. I can stack up old photos, turn on the TV to some football, and scan in the background. How great is that?

I received this scanner and set it up on my laptop, let me tell you this the scanner is fast, I did my set of photos (85) in 5 mins, it even did all the stuff (cropping,enhance) the photos. Overall this is an amazing scanner.

This is a review for the Epson FastFoto FF-640 that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. This scanner is a great product and I Highly recommended it, and grateful to now own. The software was easy to understand and upload ,and helps you edit your photo's fast and easy at the same time. It also has the ability to automatically categorize by groups, and date which is a great feature as well. It is EXTREMELY fast I was able to scan 8 shoe boxes of photo's in just over two hours (all different sizes) with no problems. It also has the ability to automatically categorize by groups, and date and both sides. This product also makes for an excellent document scanner. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to store and digitize their photos and important documents. Well worth the investment.

I would probably start this review with a full disclaimer: I received this unit free of charge for beta testing. I was not expecting much since my last experience with an epson scanner was not good. I WAS WAY OFF BASE ON THIS! First off very easy setup and install right out of the box. This scanner is great, super fast and easy to use. The software has a nice layout and very easy to use. Th photo feed worked with no problems or jams. I scanned over 1000 the first time I used it and it didn't even skip a beat. I highly recommend this unit to someone that needs fast photo scanner with high volume or perfect for a scrapbooker. My 12 year old daughter even used it for a school project and didn't have to ask me how to use it or for help. This is the way to go for someone that is scared of technology.

This scanner is great for the photographer enthusiast or maybe a person who wants to digitize their photo collection. The scanner is much smaller than I expected however it outperforms what i expected as well. When i first loaded some photos in the scanner after a very simple plug and play setup i was surprised just how fast it scanned all my photos. It is super fast just as described. The only con I can find to this product is its price. I seems very expensive for a private use scanner however businesses could use this as well. It is a great overall scanner to purchase.
