Do not buy anything from Epson. Their product support is horrible. This scanner actually does a number of things well; if, however you need to edit a document you have scanned, there is a defect in the software and the entire system crashes. It is impossible to contact Epson to tell them: If you call the number on their website (562-276-1300) there are voice prompts that lead you to a "scanner" tech; BUT they immediately tell you that you have called the wrong number and direct you to 562-276-4394. If you call this number, the voice prompts are only relating to camers and other digital products NOT scanners. In other words, Epson has provided defective software and then made it almost impossible to tell them you have a problem. DON'T BUY IT.

This little scanner is fantastic. Was able to scan all my families pictures with no problems. Scanned over 10,000 over a few weeks. Would stop and clean it every so often but never saw a decline in quality. Love the software allows you to date and assign a title to a group. While it does have a hefty price tag, if you have a gizillion pictures to scan it is most certainly worth the price.

Yes, it's very expensive, but it scans things SO QUICKLY it's amazing. I've scanned several thousand photos and it only takes ~2 seconds per photo on the highest scan settings. When scanning documents it's even faster - no more than a single second for a 600dpi scan of a full 8.5"x11" piece of paper. You really do get what you pay for here.
