This is without a doubt the best scanner that I have ever owned. I was originally interested it the Epson FastFoto FF-680W Wireless High Speed Photo and Document Scanner for use only as a document scanner and it sure does impress. It will auto feed and scan double sided documents faster than I thought possible. The optical character recognition software does a great job reading and converting the text. The free trial of the included receipt manager is a great bonus. I will continue to use every day for scanning documents. But where this scanner truly shines at scanning photos. It can scan not only the front, but the back of a photo (dates/hand written notes/etc) quickly and with great quality. And the included software will auto organize, label, and even touch up or restore your old photo prints with great efficiency. Just search the internet for videos of this scanner in action and I guarantee that you will be impressed. The only down side I have found is that when the scanner is connected via wifi, and turned on, your computer will give you constant popup notifications advising that the scanner is ready for use. This can be fixed by disabling the Epson software at startup in your pc setting, but I wish and hope that Epson will fix this issue with a software update soon, and this is a minor flaw in an otherwise great product. The scanner is so quick, elegant, and easy to use. It is a little bit heavier than I thought, however, it is worth it.

I was archiving our thousands of photos using a regular printer/scanner and it took about 1 min per picture and the quality was not great (at 600 dpi). I did some research and found this Epson Photo Scanner and couldn't believe it. With it, you put a stack of photos in the loader and hit scan. For 600 dpi it takes 3 seconds per photo. After scanning the set, you are presented with the results and can rename them, move them, etc. And the quality is MUCH BETTER than from my Brother printer/scanner. You can chose to just save the original scan or it plus an enhancement. I found it is best to save both and then view them and delete one of them. 95% of the time the enhanced photo is best. However, I found for photos at the beach or with lots of sky and clouds, sometimes the enhancement is washed out and the original is best. I love the scanner and don't know how I would ever get through archiving all my photos without it. I have even gone back and scanned the 400 photos I had previously scanned. The quality was so much better than the Brother printer scans that I deleted the old scanned files and kept the new ones from this Epson Photo scanner. If you are archiving lots of photos, you need this scanner!

We all have those boxes somewhere in the house whether they are in the attic, basement or some closet, that are filled with old photos of our friends and family. Maybe once a year if we are lucky someone digs them out and we look at the albums or loose photos and then put them away for the next time someone feels like lugging them out. The FastFoto is your answer to being able to save and share these precious memories easily and for posterity. All you need to do is scan your photos in the 680W and you will be able to save, edit and share all of those photos. You can even scan both sides at the same time (of a document or picture with writing on the back etc) Depending upo the quality setting you can scan a photo EACH SECOND, which is amazing. Sharing is easy via Dropbox or Google Drive or certainly via email or social media. I am so excited to preserve my familys legacy in digital form for generations to be able to access. Dont hesitate to get this, I cant reccomend it more.

The is an impressive piece of tech. The setup was straight-forward and connecting the software with the scanner was a simple step-by-step process (just be sure to read the instructions on the screen). My focus has been on scanning old photographs for a family digital archive. It is working great. Just stack the photos together by size and the Epson FF-680W runs them through quickly while doing quality scans. If you want higher resolution than 300 dpi (the default), be sure to set it before scanning. I especially appreciate the software feature that scans the back of a photo if there's anything written on it and gives it a filename corresponding to the front. There's also a feature that allows you to automatically generate an enhanced version of the photo. For old photos, this did a very good job and saved a lot of time. The Epson FastFoto FF-680W scanner does what it claims and does it well.

I've never used one of these, but they are ready to use out of the box. They are a little pricey, but if you are a person that needs one it's a good deal. I needed this for my older siblings, because some of them have photos we need to get on to a computer. This is the perfect tool!

At first try, hooking the usb cable, i followed all directions, and started to install and download all files needed for the scanner. right at the 99% point, it stated it could not go through the process anymore. after several attempts, I completely uninstalled everything and then went with the wi-fi route and everything went fine. I love all the extra programs that come with the scanner to enhance and edit the photos.I liked there was no cd"s to install anything with. everything worked perfect and not a bit of trouble working with this scanner. The Epson FF-680W is a photo scanner capable under certain conditions of scanning at a rate of 1 photo per second, hence the FastFoto naming. While geared towards photos, it can also handle documents, receipts, and other things one might feed through a typical scanner. It comes with productivity software to help automate this process and upload scans to the cloud. What's nice is that you're not tied to some service chosen by Epson. You can point it to Dropbox, Google Drive, or a couple other options. At 300 dpi, one gets good but not great quality. Perhaps this is a trade off one makes for speed. For your non photo documents, the software has some OCR capability to help you do some rudimentary searching. If you use this with receipts, that can come in useful - unless you already need to parse them to extract information like sales tax, in which case you're already doing indexing work on your own. A cool feature is that you can place multiple (I think up to 35) photos in the tray, and it will sequence through and scan them all. The major downside of this scanner, which to be fair, others will face, is handling non-perfectly flat photos. The scanning speed makes it seem like it was designed to help you archive or backup old photos you may have been storing from a decade or longer ago - because after all, most photos nowadays will be digital already. The problem is that unless you've stored those well in a great environment, they tend to warp. A slight amount isn't a big deal, but when you approach what's typical, particularly in a set with only 10-15 photos where the weight and space used up by the photos don't allow for much movement, you'll end up with photos that jam the scanner. This throws the 1 scan per second metric out the window as you now need to babysit the scanner. Spec-wise, it's a decent scanner. However, it needs to do a better job handling photos to get more stars.

The Review ---------- I started with installing the Epson Scansmart software on my computer and it was a breeze and easy software. THen its just setting up the machine, thats pretty straightforward like any printer. Note that this is not a flat bed scanner, its a feeder scanner. Note that the photos go in face up and top edge first. I was able to connect the scanner wirelessly and it was seamless. The scanning can be controlled in two ways, either use the button on the machine or use the software. Once you are ready to scan just name the batch so that the software can organize the photos appropriately. It wil ask you to provide the year, month or seasonsay Spring, Fall etc and then it will ask you for the folder name. Once you are done, it will scan and and put it in the appropriate folder and tag the photos with the year and month. The photos can be scanned in either 600dpi or 300dpi. i will not advice you to scan in 1200dpi, it will look artificial. The software allows you edit and enhance but i would rather use a photoshop for it. So the document scanner is a good feature as well. You can feed in multiple docs and save it to your computer or cloud drive. Since this is not a flat bed scanner, it is super fast. Overall i like the product.

Not gonna lie, I was expecting sub-par image quality results from a "fast" photo scanner. I've used a lot of scanners in the past and generally speed = a loss of quality, but this thing performed REALLY well, especially for photos. You can choose between 300, 600, or software-enhanced (non-optical) 1200 dpi and jpeg or tiff file formats. The enhanced scan mode applies some automatic adjustments to the photos which worked well for the most part. There were only a handful of occasions where I thought the results looked weird. Overall very good results. Document scanning was pretty good as well. I usually just scan stuff on my phone using the camera so anything better than that is great for me. I was also worried about old photos feeding through the scanner. The last thing I would want is a priceless old photo to be ruined or chewed up in the internals but had no issues with the feed mechanism. But they also have a "slow" mode which slows down the feed in case you are worried. But in terms of speed, it claims 1-3 seconds per photo depending on the dpi settings, but including warm up and saving the files, bank on maybe double that time. Still super fast. Documents were scanned in about 1-2 seconds per single-sided page. (It's rated at 45ppm but I only had a few pages to scan). The size of the scanner was great when folded. I thought that with something this small, being a sheet-fed and not a flat-bed scanner, that the results would be so-so but I was more than pleased with the results. Just note that the trays have to fold down to use it so it does require more room when in use but can be folded up to save space on your desk. The one downside is price. It's not cheap but I'm not saying it isn't worth the money either. The nice thing is, once you get done archiving your old photos, you can still use it as a document scanner which is a big advantage to this model over another that may only scan up to 5 x 3 photos. This one can do normal sheets of paper. I had stacks upon stacks of old photos that otherwise would rarely see the light of day so it was just fantastic to be able to scan a digital copy of all those old memories. I'll still keep the originals around, but being able to access them all is super nice.

I received this scanner via mail at the beginning of the month. It’s features are nice and handy when it comes to scanning both pictures and actual documents. I have had no problems whatsoever with it and would immensely recommend it. Alongside its phenomenal usage, it’s app for the phone greatly assists one when the computer is acting up too. Great little scanner. Two apps, one for pictures the other for PDF's. Started using it without reading any instructions. Just like a kid with a new toy. HA HA. Pictures come out good it makes two of each picture. I need to read why, although one more colorful than the other, so I just delete the one I dislike.

This scanner is excellent- being able to scan several pictures rapidly with great quality made the job of scanning years of photos possible in only a couple of days.!!! I highly recommend it.

This scanner is exactly what I wanted. Setup was very easy, but the downloading of the software took extremely long and I know it wasn't my internet connection. Once installed the software was very simple and straight forward. I like having the option to go into the advanced settings to tweak the way my scanning is done. Being able to scan multiple photos and have them restored and enhanced automatically by the software is a huge benefit and time saver.

Scans photos quickly. The Google Drive auto upload is convenient and makes sharing easy. I got lucky and mine doesn't mark the photos. It seems pricy, but I needed to scan thousands of family photos so it was worth it.

Does a great job scanning large batches of pictures along with making them better than the old original.

Really great for those who have lot of loose photos. It works exactly as described and the features of being able to scan both sides simultaneously along with making individual files for every picture and side is priceless! MUST buy!
