Excellent photo scanner... when it connects

Both photos and documents look great, and the speed that is can crank through stacks of photos is impressive. Love that aspect of this scanner... when I can get it to connect and scan. I am constantly plagued with connection issues over USB. Have tried different cables, and even different computers, still have connections issues at least half the attempts to scan. The software is no help diagnosing the issue. I see an orange exclamation point on the scanner, but the software doesn't give any indication of what the issue is. No troubleshooting, no error logs, nada. The software shows the scanner is connected, yet I keep getting the exclamation point. Beyond frustrating. Never had any issues at all with my Fujitsu Scanners. After this experience, will probably be switching back to them.

Photos Jam Easy

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We have thousands of photos that we wanted to scan into the cloud & thought this would be the perfect resolution but for what it cost maybe not. The photos would get jammed in the scanner all the time no matter how well you cleaned the photos. Dont get me wrong when it worked it was a real deal breaker but it just jammed to easy for me.

Not Wireless, Quality Just OK, Great Ease of Use

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not sure how well the unit works beyond, 100 to 200 pictures which are just OK as I expected before I bought it, because i needed the wireless I thought I bought. I am sure there is a way to hook it up but I expected it would be like our three iPads, three Samsung TVs, and two printers, two Apple TVs, one computer, eg 15 minutes each all set to go except in the case of one Samsung, I had my password problem, clearly my fault. As of now I get a message that I don’t have a special kind or type of connection that doesn’t exist on my 10 year or my one year old computers. I just don’t want to take the hours required to fix, which I am sure I can.

It kept erroring out.

If I did one picture at a time, then it was fine. I was trying to do multiple pictures. Most the time it would seem like it was taking the pictures and then all of a sudden I would get an error. If I wanted to do one picture at a time, I would’ve gotten a flatbed scanner at a much higher dpi. I returned it. I am looking for something better.

Great speed, not so great quality

But I am not at all impressed with the quality of the scanned photo. Especially using the autocorrect feature which put a "haze" over the corrected image. Not impressed; returned the printer.

Omissions in the advertising
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Disappointing quality - scans look very noisy and grainy and when I reported this to Epson support they had me delete some config file and let it rebuild when starting the scanner again. This exercise did NOTHING to fix the issue and theywasted my time. SO I wrote again and told them I needed a real response and no more wastful suggestions and that is when i was told how the scanner is built to capture in JPG then it converts to TIF - and the noise I am experiencing is the highly compressed JPG processing. The unit is built for speed and NOT for quality. Epson said they will initiate a full refund if I wish - and I may do this if they cannot offer a firmware update to address the noise in the dark area of pictures. I asked them for a recommendation for a replacement but they have not responded..
