Let me just say I’m going into extra detail on this review. Bottom line, the scanner is great and does what it needs to do. I’ve scanned about 1000 pictures and they’ve all come out really nice. I’m not sure it can get much better for the price you’re paying without having some serious equipment. That being said… the software for this thing was a real pain. It just feels dated and customer phone support from Epson was really rude and literally hung up on me. I kept getting an error (included on the pictures) however after many hours of dealing with the issue and reinstalling windows I was able to finally get the software installed. All in all the scanner is pretty good, the software needs work, Epson phone support is a joke.

Nice scanner with small footprint, easy to set up and easy to use. The problem I am having with it is that some of the enhanced pictures are double-exposed. I have been using the Fastphoto software and have cleaned the photos and used the scanning slow-mode option. I have not had a problem with the original photo being double-exposed so that is a plus.

It scanned hundreds of photos onto my computer with such delicacy and speed. The FastFoto software is also really amazing at instantly restoring old photos from yellow and orange tint which usually comes with age. Make sure you keep it clean and free of dust so it doesn't show up on your old photos.

Great for fast scanning of large library of family photos. Can be known to sometimes leave slight trail marks on the photos from the rollers as they shoot through. For the value and speed, there's not much else out there that can compete with this as of now [6/2023], without spending much more, or going for a much slower flatbed scanner.

Recently bought this item to scan numerous photos that I have stored in closet. I have not had a chance yet to scan the oldest photos with off sizes but those that I did scan were in good condition and were very easy to scan with auto feeder. Scanning to computer and categorizing them has been a fairly simple process. I am hoping the the rest of photos are as easy to scan.

I'd like to start off saying, I normally scan negatives, photos and documents on a more involved scale such as 6400dpi average, using Photoshop CS and SilverFast. I do restorations and archival work. With that being said... I'm happy we bought this scanner. It does a fine job. My wife and I scanned though hundreds of photos in under an hour. The quality was good and the scanner was easy to set up. (Make sure you follow the initial set up instructions VERBATIM.) I learned the software and operation within 30 minutes of opening the box and setting it up. I gave it 4 stars because the wireless connection sometimes drops and the search window opens to find the device. So far it has NOT happened during a scan. It is an inconvenience, but there's always that chance when using a wireless device. (This scanner also has USB connection.) Also, because the "Organization" function is somewhat limited. We used a MacBook Pro and the save location is either Apple Photos App or choose a folder where you MUST create or choose a file name prefix. The Auto Enhance feature is very good. You have the Upload option for Google Drive or Dropbox. Documents worked out very nice on this also. Epson provides a plastic sleeve for delicate papers. I scanned legal sized documents and they turned out really good. In short, I do recommend this scanner. For us, the Pros outweigh the Cons. If you don't mind dropping $600, go for it. Today, I'm buying the Protection Plan for $99 because of the cost of any repairs, wear and tear or damage that could occur. Those things are covered. Good Luck!

I inherited roughly 300 pounds of aging family photos that were desperately in need of digitizing before they faded away. These photos are a chaotic mix of sizes and thicknesses from the 50s and 60s, making uniform stacking nearly impossible. While I try to group similar sizes for the feeder, the stacks are never perfect. Occasionally, a smaller photo feeds at a slight angle, but it’s not a big deal. A quick crop in Apple Photos fixes it. Is it perfect? Well, no. I had occasional jams and had to clean the optics on the scanner one time. But before this, I relied on a flatbed scanner. The sheer monotony of that process was so soul-crushing that I never actually made progress. With this device, I blew through 1,500 photos in under two hours. I still have three massive boxes to go, but for the first time, there is light at the end of the tunnel. If you have a mountain of memories and hate tedious work, buy this. It’s still a project, but compared to a flatbed, it’s a total game-changer. You won't believe how fast you'll finish.

This photo/document scanner is pricey, but does what can't be done on any regular copy machine. For people like me that have literally thousands of old photos laying around in boxes and drawers, this is the only way to go to be able to scan and organize them. It scans a photo a second, and you can load up to 30 photos at a time. So, thirty photos in 30 seconds! There is a cover sheet included for old photos or paper clippings (or whatever) that may be tattered or have bent edges that protects it while going through the scanner. If there is writing on the back of a photo, that too gets scanned at the same time the photo is scanned. There is a color corrector for old discolored photos that enhances them back more to their original coloring. If you choose, it will automatically scan the photo as is and with the color correction--both ways with one scan. You may notice the scanned photo is maybe a bit less perfect than the original on some photos, but that did not bother me. I'm just thrilled there is a way to scan them and perhaps actually be able to look at all of those memories instead of groaning every time I look at a drawer full of chaos. It felt good to throw away a lot of photos I don't care to keep when scanning them and tossing all of those old negatives that will never, never, never be used. Their time has passed. To sum it up--If you are looking for a way to organize lots of pictures (or newspaper clippings or documents), this is the way to go. When researching, I narrowed it down to this one pretty fast.

This scanner is easy to use, sorts the photos you scan very easily and is fast when you have a group of photos. The two things that don't make it a 5 star is it was hard to set it up with the computer and it doesn't scan a stack of 3 1/2 by 5 photos.

Very fast scanner. It is very convenient and easy to use. Would be 5 stars but I did have a couple issues. It does leave scratches on some photos. Sometimes when scanning multiple photos it will freeze and I lose the photos I scanned and I have to rescan. Also when uploading to Google photos they do not seem to upload in order and if I scanned front and back the photos aren't next to each other. Besides that I have scanned a lot of photos and been happy with the results.

I am fairly happy with this scanner. The feeder works well and it makes short work of a stack of pictures. The ability to scan both sides of photos is nice, as is the ability to scan both sides of documents and save them as a PDF. Very handy around tax time. I haven't tried the OCR feature so I can't comment on that. I also like how small the scanner is. I have a flatbed scanner for serious photo/slide/negative scanning (4800dpi), and this scanner takes up less than half the desk space. My only knock on the scanner is the scan quality. There is some organized noise in dark regions of scanned photos. The image quality did get quite a bit better when I installed the latest firmware update however. I just don't know how it got out of the factory with the original image quality problems.

The Epson FastFoto works well overall and lives up to its names as far as speed of processing. I have had a few problems with paper jams and found that all the pictures scanned in that set have to be rescanned if that happens, or has with mine. Overall i’m happy with my purchase. It’s a good product and saves a lot of time compared to a flatbed scanner.

It's a bit pricey but it gets the job done. You have to make sure and remove any possible adhesive from the back of the photo. I recommend wiping down each photo with a lint free cloth before scanning. It will cut down on dust specks on your scanned image. If you have thousands of photos to scan, I recommend. I did about 200 photos already.

Excellent for convience and fast. Do not like the fact that each time your photos are processing when it gets to the last 4 in pile it jams. Tried everything to troubleshoot. Decided to do one by one when this happens since the photos are so important. Love how u can change the DPI before scanning for better quality!

This thing is fast! As far as it's main purpose as a photo scanner, it's crazy how fast it can scan things. For backing up large amounts of photos, the quality is great. It does have some connectivity issues that I haven't been able to figure out, but when it works it works well. Price is a little outrageous, but there really isn't anything else on the market like it.

This is a great machine. I could be happier if the interface with my desktop were a little faster but it might be my older desktop. Scanning in family photo form my mothers garage and works smooth. just be sure to keep the sizes together when scanning to prevent jams.

I bought this scanner for 2 reasons: - We have the document-only version of this scanner at the office, and it's FAST! - I've wanted this model for a long time to help me digitalize my boxes of photos. As for the document scanning, this is so much better than the feeder on my printer. I am finally able to start digitalizing the paper in my house and get rid of the clutter. It's just as fast as the one at our office. I'll start by saying that I have never used a scanner with photos and been impressed with the result. Sometimes you have the ability to tweak the scan a bit, but I almost always have to at least do some basic photo enhancement in Photoshop or some other program. I'm not going to say that this one breaks that trend, but for the speed at which it scans, the quality is pretty good. Some of the enhancements the software tried to make were not quite the way that I want them, but I know I was being EXTREMELY picky. Since I know how to perfect it myself in Photoshop, I'd rather take the time to do that with my favorite photos. I have to remind myself that what this scanner does that no other one does is make this a FAST process! If you have ever tried to scan a lot of photos with a flatbed scanner, one batch on this one will make you never look back!
