Have a model 3700 and love it. Bought this model for outside movies only to find out there is no audio out jack. The internal speaker is not even close to adequate. Will be returning tomorrow and upgrading to the 2150.

Good Home Projector but Runs Hot!

Being a newbie to Epson projectors I really looked forward to this purchase so I could have a HUGE screen in my Mancave. For most intents and purposes this projector meets all my needs. First, a few cons: This thing runs really warm after a while. It puts a lot of heat out of the vent on the front and warmed up the entire room. Not uncomfortably so, just was kind of surprised. Second, it is mostly a plastic case so longevity is a little concerning, along with the arm that holds the front of the projector up. Also, the speaker is somewhat underwhelming; it worked well for us in are small room but will need to be hooked to something to produce larger sound. On to the positives: This thing is really bright and puts out a wonderful picture even on a bare wall with no screen. Colors were vibrant and sharp as was picture quality. We used several devices as inputs and they all displayed well. The instructions were pretty straightforward and the controls are well defined and easy to use. For home use, I believe this to be a good buy and will serve me well. I don't think I would try and push it very hard though as I would be concerned over it's stability. Good Shopping!

    Bright Picture, Portable

I've never owned a projector in my home. I've used them for work, but they've always been less than stellar (bright, but low resolution). I was always afraid that you had to spend $1000s to get a quality projector to replace today's HDTVs. Not only that, I don't have a dark basement, so I was concerned about watching a projector in the middle of the day. This projector handles both issues with ease. BUT it's not without its caveats. Picture quality. Is great, honestly. It's full 1080p with fluid motion and virtually no blur. I've watched Blu-Rays, played PlayStation and football. While the clarity doesn't compare to my 65 inch 4K TV, (and honestly it shouldn't) I much preferred the 100 inch size of the projector screen. it changed the way I enjoy my content on TV. The projector has 3100 lumens, and all you need to know is that's extremely bright, and it's bright enough to watch in your main living room or in other words, a room that isn't a dark basement. I will say that if you have lots of natural lighting, you might get a little washout with the projector, but I could say our bright room affected my 4K TV (at least a little bit) and I rarely watch TV during high noon so it didn't matter much. The caveat about picture quality, is a good screen. I projected my picture onto a white wall. I've heard, and I assume, but don't know, that projecting onto a proper screen will make the picture look even better. I found the white wall to be suitable, but there were times (like when a of black is on the screen) that I wished I had a projector screen. But again, it's a trade off for me, I'm willing to sacrifice for a larger screen experience. Sound It has a built in speaker, but let's be honest, you absolutely must have a speaker system. That's another caveat. While I always rely on external speakers, some people don't and rely on their TV speakers. You obviously "can" use the projector's speaker, but I don't recommend it. I'm assuming if you're reading this review, you have your own sound system, but if you don't have one, that's something else to keep in mind when purchasing a projector. Portability. One of the reasons' I bought this projector, was to use at tailgates and for outdoor movie showings. While I've struggled to find a suitable screen replacement at a tailgate (due to limitations of parking, size, etc.) I like that I can take this bad boy anywhere, it's much more convenient than packing a large TV. It's not something I do, or plan to do, all the time, but it's a nice feature. I can't speak on the longevity of the bulb, I haven't had it long enough, but from the materials I've read, it should last a long time which is a plus. Setup This is a pretty basic and easy to set up projector. The biggest constraints are your placement. What I mean, it's easy to plug in cables into the ports, but depending on where your AV components are relative to where your projector is, will determine how complex it is to set everything up. Also, you have to factor that in when using a screen. Like I said, I use a wall, so I didn't have to get a perfect placement of the projector, I have some wiggle room. And I ran cables in my crawl space from my AV equipment to my projector stand (one day I'll attach it to the ceiling). It has a variety of ports, but the only ones that matter are HDMI and the USB (to power my Chromecast). A huge knock in my opinion, is lack of optical audio. I use that in conjunction with my HDMI. It's not a deal breaker, and it only affected my TV (when trying to get surround sound with HD antenna) but I already ran the cable for my TV and don't like it dangling. You are limited in number of HDMI ports (2). So if you plug all of your HDMI cables into your TV (if you have PS4, cable box, Xbox, Chromecast, Apple TV) you will need some sort of receiver. This problem will be taken care of if you take my advice and get a speaker system with receiver, but something to keep in mind. It has Wi-Fi, but I don't use it. It's supposedly so you can stream things from a laptop to the projector, but that's unnecessary for me. I run one HDMI cable from the projector to my receiver and plug everything into my receiver. At the end of the day, this is a great little projector. I'm sure you can get a better picture quality in higher end models, and I know you can get a better picture quality with traditional HDTVs, but you just can't beat the size of a projector. And for most people, myself included, the picture quality of 1080p with no motion blur is more than adequate. Plus it's portable, so you can be the guy or gal to take a projector wherever for on the spot drive-in theater like experiences.

So this is my first projection system because I have always been sceptical but this projector changes my thoughts. First of all the picture is just as good as any big screen. Whether you have it close or stretch it to 300 inches it still looks 1080 and crystal clear. We used this for a game on our back porch and it was perfect. The internal speaker made it nice not to have to bring audio equipment outside. We just plugged it in and connected the Directv HDMI and within 30 seconds we were watching the game. It comes with a remote to adjust the settings. If you like to watch games outside this is amazing. After the football season this will be going in my basement as a theatre.

Poor value, after 5 months, the price for a brand new 1060 was down to 450 usd. And this model definetly has its defects when on the ECO mode. The display flickers seriously when on ECO mode, but becomes normal when on normal mode. (a lot of people observe the same thing) However, sometimes I don't need this strong brightness because I have a very small room. And you will have a shorter lifespan for the lamp when on normal mode. What a bump!

The image is crooked and too big on the screen. Trying to figure out if it came broken or just is meant for larger home cinema rooms. But how do you explain the crooked picture? it's like the lens was damaged in transit. (it came this way. At first I thought I just didn't know how to set it up properly).

This is the first projector that I've ever owned, and I like it a lot. The projector has lots of connection options: 2 HDMI ports, a VGA port, and AUX ports. I hooked my laptop up to it, and it had no problem displaying a nice clear picture. Adjusting keystone and focus was very easy. The projector did get a little warm during use, but I gather that is pretty normal for these types of things. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

Love love love. The screen quality is amazing I feel like I have a movie theater set up in my house. Quick and easy set up with my Android phone. I was able to mirror everything on my phone. Definitely going to use it to share pictures and videos with the family and watch movies. A whole new experience. This is also compact so it will fit on a shelf in your entertainment center. I will say you do have to find the right angle so that it looks centered on your wall, but all you need is to prop something under it with enough height and your all set. I also recommend a large wall so you have the best look. I didn’t hear much noise coming from it either. This will be great for the holidays.

I have been using this Epson 1060 Home Cinema for a couple of months now and so far I have no complain. I might be a tiny bit noisy but that's probably something that depends on the the location of the projector - I sit next to it. Image quality is perfect, very easy to use and intuitive interface.

I really like this machine! I gave it four stars and not five because it is so close to being a traditional TV alternative (which is what I was hoping for). However, during my review this unit fell short of the mark at most turns. Right out the box this device is very simple to setup (plug in your cable box, plug it in, point at a screen, and enjoy). I would recommend reading the simple instructions and perhaps using the setup disc. Nevertheless, once the novelty (I have never owned such a projector before) wore off, I realized everything that will have to be done to make this an everyday driver. For me it is not going to be because of the following cons: 1) The sound is terrible and if they weren't going to put some effort into it; they should have just omitted the speaker (or advertised that "hey sound will be ok for a PowerPoint but NOTHING else") 2) The AV plugs again just miss the mark. However, you can make it work with a game plan. Meaning, a traditional TV has enough in and out HDMI or s optic or whatever that you can make it work... This one does not in my opinion and I had to get creative. 3) It has Wi-Fi but unlike even a cheap printer you cannot just connect other devices via Wi-Fi, (I think I find this one most frustrating of all) 4) I feel like since it has Wi-Fi it should have come with some preloaded apps (Netflix, Hulu, VUDU, etc.) again even a cheap Blu-ray player has the hardware for that. I could go on but those few items are my only real hiccups with this unit. Now the pros A) The picture is BEAUTIFUL. The time of day, ambient room light, the screen, and or wall you are displaying it on will ultimately affect your overall clarity. Nonetheless, when we watch a movie in a closed (or of course at night) off environment it is just like being a cinema. B) If purchasing for a media room this unit is Perfect and deserves five star ***** (meaning, all of your components can be isolate for use with the projector at a convenient level) {was not and is not my situation} C) Will make you buy a nice screen to enhance the viewing experience. I believe a flat textured wall with flat white'ish paint would be fine and you would never miss a beat. We have textured and beige or other color walls. Not ideal but still it showed a wonderful picture on them; the color was just screwed. In conclusion, we use this for family movie night since time and preparation that has to go into the setup for our home but we do LOVE the end result. Also, playing video games on 100” screen is really cool :^)

So this new projector is literally the centerpiece of my new gaming room and it leaves so much room for possibilities and from what I've done so far it delivers completely. I can't even get enough space to fully take advantage of what it is capable of, but I got a pretty awesome setup going and it truly delivers some fantastic home theater experiences. It is ideal for those wanting a large screen experience, but need to consider budget as well. I managed to get it up to a 92" diagonal and it is amazing. The picture quality is superb, and while it may not be 4K in most cases you probably won't even notice it. It does get sufficiently bright such that you can use it in a well lit room and it doesn't take away the experience at all; I'm using it on a white brick wall and while the brick does distort it slightly I mostly didn't notice. I didn't expect it to have a built in speaker, but it does and it is quite loud as well so outdoor use could be a possibility. It has a foot that you can use to prop it up to get an ideal viewing angle, and I just love knowing that I could get a 300" experience on this if I had a wall big enough. Was happy to see that HDMI 1 on the projector supports MHL so it can be used for a variety of purposes. Gaming, Movies, Sports, or just regular TV since it supports both VGA and HDMI it gives you a lot of flexibility, It even supports Wi-Fi for file sharing across a network a pleasant surprise. Adjustment of the projector even for a first timer was simple and the guide that it came with explained it very well. The projector is simply awesome for consumer purposes.

I'm amazed by the crisp, detailed picture quality on Epson's PowerLite Home Cinema 1060. Stunning visuals with superb motion picture, the 1060 is bright and colorful and has enough power to keep up with your 1080p HD video playback (4K is not supported), gaming systems, or streaming needs. Tested on a muted white wall, the screen can be stretched out to 300" or shrunken to a smaller, conventional size, but the picture does not lose much, if any, detail at the extremes. Visually, it really creates a theater-like atmosphere. The 1060 is not light (about 6 lbs. out of the box), but it is plug-and-play ready out of the box and only needs power and an entertainment source to get going. Startup is pretty quick with a single button push; the remote is a little busy and will take getting used to. Positioning the projector was a simple task of finding a sweet spot straight onto the blank wall, but the picture will stay rectangular with the projector in multiple positions with easy angle adjustment features. Most disappointing is the built-in speaker which leaves a lot to be desired. It gets fairly loud, but you will be missing truly distinguishable highs and anything resembling passable bass. It is recommended to pair this with a good soundbar or full stereo system during viewing. The projector worked very well with both a Google Chromecast and an Amazon Firestick. Casting from an iPad to the Chromecast, picture quality and video controls translated seamlessly. The Firestick responded flawlessly as well - both devices started up very quickly after plugging into the MHL HDMI port. I also tested the 1060 with a PS4 and found the visuals to be breathtaking in pitch black darkness, but even with some room lighting, the colors did not darken and fade as much as I would have thought. Overall, the PowerLite 1060 provides lots of visual punch for your home theater but needs a little help on the audio side. If you can pair this with a surround sound system, you're well on your way to creating a wonderful home cinema experience. Full disclosure, I received this product for my honest, unbiased review.
