This scanner does 45 dpi to 1200 dpi. Which is perfect for my use. It is extremely light weight so I can travel easily with it and my laptop. I only wish it were faster, but the detail I want takes time. I completely recommend this Epson Perfection V-39 scanner!

Corner alignment is not great. If you seat a pic in the corner, it crops approx 1/8 inch along the top and one side.

I chose to go this route, even though the project would be more time consuming, the resolution cannot be beat. If you are looking for a high quality photo scanner, this is the one to get - small in size, USB powered and easy to use,

The new unit also did not work with my computer so I returned it. Best Buy honored their end of the transaction. I think it is a software or design of the contact point for connector cord issue, since changing the connector cord also did not help. I contacted Epson- initially did not want to acknowledge problem. After speaking with 3 different levels of CSR agents they agreed to give me a discount on replacement which I had to purchase on Epson website.
