It's ok

If your computer does not detect the connection, just reset it or plug it again, that's why I said it's not the faster but if you have time buy yourself a nice caramel frappuccino (with the extra money saved) and do what you have to do relaxed.

setup was very involved

My Mac had upgraded and had to go thru Epson to get codes and updated instructions in order to make it happen. In addition, had to have apple support help. I would have rather returned it. Only reason, I did not was that I lived far from the nearest Best Buy store. Now, I am looking to learn how to scan item after item rather than start over after each one. All this being said, I am not a computer dummy, but the process made me feel very frustrated.

Did a great job

It worked the first time and is now broken.

I went back a few days later to try to use it again and it won’t turn on. I’ve gone through all of the software and computer settings, and the Epson user manual. I’ve spoken with Epson customer support multiple times and they just keep telling me to try the same stuff I’ve already done. So now I have a useless scanner.

The issue is likely caused by a Microsoft Windows power saving feature that basically turns off USB ports when they aren’t active. This is the reason why you have to restart your computer or disconnect and reconnect the cable. Please disable the USB selective suspend setting on your computer. Easy hook-up

Hope you’re not scanning a lot!

Not sure if mine is a dud or what. I have had many many scanners and never had an issue like this.
