Called Epson and sent replacement. Replacement crashes with every single scan. Now too late to return. It was a gift and only used the 1st one for 1 week and the second one for 15 min. Missed return window because I went through Epson first. Absolutely furious.

Died after four hours

Scanning was a bit slow, and the machinery made some strained noises as it scanned, but it got the job done. Sadly, the next day, it became unusable. As it prepared to scan, it made a noise like a dying giraffe and ceased to function. The status light is still dutifully blinking once a second, eternally preparing to scan. I hope to leave a more favorable review when I get a working model.

Buttons do not work: error messages

The buttons do not work, and about half the time I get a message to "install the drivers." I may send it back; but I will give the Epson people a chance to help me fix whatever is the issue.
