Customers are saying

Customers regard the Perfection V600 Photo Scanner as user-friendly and easy to set up, even for those who are not tech-savvy. They appreciate the high-quality scans and the scanner's ability to handle various media, including negatives, film slides, and old photos. However, some customers have concerns about the outdated software, compatibility issues, the scanner's large size, occasional defects, and the time-consuming scanning process.

I installed the software off of the Epson web site because the CD says it's for up to Win 8. This gets you no photo software or user guide. On the other hand, the user guide is completely worthless, and the machine didn't want to scan. The software is not intuitive at all. So, I stuck the CD in and installed everything. After a reboot or two, it started scanning well. In full auto mode, it would scan a photo by touching the Scan button on the front of the scanner. All these buttons do is start the software in the right mode (PDF, email, print, photo). So, it was looking okay. Then I tried scanning photo negatives with the film carrier. I tried Full auto, and got a picture of the film carrier. When I tried Professional and Home modes, I always got a message of something like "no response from scanner. Try blah, blah, blah". Tried this a couple of times, no change. Switched back to scanning a regular photo and it was fine. Called Epson support. While it was cute to have Saquiille O'Neal keep encouraging me to chill and someone would help me right away, I quit after 15 minutes. I boxed up everything like I got it and took it back to the store. So, Epson tech support did not support me.

New MacBook pro required an update of my previous epson scanner. Not happy that this type of forced action be taken, but the Perfection v600 has proven an easy install, and has performed to expectations.

Been scanning photos and text pages for over a year now and it's worked great. The software it comes with is simple, and pretty easy to learn. The underside of the lid is white. The only thing I wish it did have would be for that white underside to be reversible to black. That would make scanning 2 sides b&w pages much nicer since it would reduce the bleed through. Placing a black piece of paper on top of the paper to be scanned does help, though.

Scanner software was easy to install and was up and running in 5 minutes. Picture quality is amazing. If you use the max pixel setting it does take about 12-15 seconds to scan, but I find it is completely worth it.

For the price, quality is pretty good. Lot of options to fix the photo before scanning. I'm using mainly for slides. The instructions only describe how to use the many options. Found many useful guidelines about scanning on youtube.

I researched scanners for several months when my old Epson 500 had isssues with OS updates. Since I need both the flat bed and film fuctions the V600 works great for both. If I ever need a beter slide scan I can add a Plusek for $350. However after working with it for 2 weeks the slides I have scanned are very good.

I was looking for a scanner I could use to preserve family photos easily. This product lets me place more than one picture at a time on the screen and automatically saves the cropped images as single pictures saving me tons of time. I love it!

Purchased this to scan old slides and negatives, does a great job producing high-quality scans. Know that this model only does up to medium format film, so you will need a more expensive model to do large format. Very pleased with this purchase.

Great scanner - upgrade to SilverFast Scanner Software to get the most out of it. About the scanner- good construction. The lid stays up on its own at 60 degrees. This frees both hands to adjust whatever you are scanning. The plastic inserts support different sizes of negatives and slides. Very accurate tracking. I can repeatedly scan at different exposures to get the most information from my negatives and the scans overlay each other perfectly. Recommend

I have 't had a chance to really put this scanner to the test yet. It works well as a scanner. I'm looking forward to using it to scan old negatives I've held on to from college and my childhood.
