Excellent value
This scanner has been used for several weeks now with a few flat prints and hundreds of 2x2 slides, many of which were 60-80 years old and not stored in the most ideal conditions for 20-30 of those years. My family and I have been quite pleased with the outcomes of color restoration and scratch/dust removal by the software when operating in Auto mode at 600 dpi. Not all imperfections have been removed and the color is not fully restored but it's been remarkable how much better than expected the results have been. I have used the additional software that came with the system only a little bit and not enough to comment yet. Overall, this system has performed strongly to expectations. For full throughput of 4 slides at a time at 600 dpi, it operates at 75-80 seconds per slide. Straight forward software operation.

V600 review and my experience
The Epson V600 is great scanner for a multitude of reasons. If you need it for single document scans, you could get away with a cheaper scanner but the quality of scan in this scanner is amazing. Apart from that, it works well as a photo scanner as well if you want to digitize photo books. I personally use the V600 for film scanning and although there are better but more expensive ways to go about film scanning, it is a good way to get my foot in. The problem really only arrives in the film scanning software. As of now, Epson Scan 2 is only available for MacOS users and it greatly reduces the time for scans in higher resolutions, with Windows being my main operating system, I can only use Epson Scan 1 and I find myself waiting 15+ minutes for 12 (twelve) 35mm exposures at 6400 DPI. Other than that, this is a great scanner for anyone looking to do sharp scans of anything really. And for those using this for film scans, The Epson Scan software comes with its own negative coloring but I find that the colors usually don’t come out the way I want them, but can be fixed in whatever editing suite you prefer to use. Great scanner! What's not to love!
This is the best scanner I have ever used, and I have used a lot; been doing photography for 30 years, it scans everything from negatives to film slides, to photos that are old. The scanner has a great ability to scan many negatives all at once with the negative holder that comes with it. Also the transfer is very easily done through ICE and Silverfast and is easily transfered onto my hard drive or MacBook. It is really amazing to see all my old images come to life agin digitally!
