I would have liked it to be a little easier to install wirelessly and discovered your computer has to be on to scan. I was a bit disappointed.

just what we needed to replace our old scanner at our office

It is a decent scanner, it does what is intended. A little bulky, and Epson isn't the most solid company, but it does get the job done. I am a bit worried about the longevity of life for the scanner, as most Epson products are usually a rip off (I have owned their printers before, and ink prices were not fair.)

I have not really scanned much yet. I have scanned regular size documents fine. I scanned some smaller also. It did jam a few times when loading multiple documents.

The Epson Es-400 is a very versatile and well-built document scanner. The initial setup was painless and just required downloading the scanner software from Epson’s website. As soon as the software is downloaded then the scanner is ready to roll. I love the option to scan single or dual sided documents. The ability to choose what type of resolution you want your documents scanned in is also a great feature. The document feeding system is seamless whether it is full size documents or small business cards. The speed of this scanner is also quite impressive, when using the low resolution setting. Now on to the things I don’t like so much. The scanner is a tad bit on the bulky side, but a fair tradeoff given the impressive 50-page document capacity that it can hold. I am also not a fan of the Epson document capture software that is provided with this scanner. The software is very basic and a little hard to navigate. One feature that I would have liked to see with this scanner is the ability to do wireless scanning. Nowadays, wireless printing and scanning are pretty common and I think this scanner would benefit tremendously with that feature. All in all, this is a very solid document scanner. The many benefits outweigh the negatives by a very large margin. I would definitely recommend this scanner for the home user that has a need to digitize large amounts of files as well as the business consumer.
