The duplex functionality is also a frequently cited advantage. However, some users experienced challenges with paper jams, and the lack of wireless connectivity was a point of concern for several customers.

I love this scanner - I purchased to purge files at my new office - paper files were there from 2006, I scanned everything up to 2020 in a very short period of time. I like that you are able to label the files as you go. Now I am completely done. No need to go back a name the scans.

I love this little scanner! Although, this is my third scanner in 3 years sadly. I like that this one holds more paper than my last 2. So far so good.

There seem to be a lot of bells and whistles that I am still exploring regarding the scanner's capabilities. More often than not, I have to just stop with plans to return later to discover what steps are needed to complete the tack, such as e-mailing a scanned document I have just scanned in on my new 2021 MacBook Pro.

Terrific scanner. We were looking for a portable scanner which could be used with a laptop while travelling (by car). This was a little big to be used as a portable scanner but it was small enough that we were able to use it that way.

It works well. I have had one for 2 years without many issues (just a few paper jams). I have put 3 in my business, they work well. However, a few times we have had driver issues with Windows. Support is slow, Fuji scanner never had these hiccups.

If you have a need for document scanning, you cannot go wrong with sheet fed scanner. In fact, once you start using a sheet fed documents scanner, you will not want to go back to a flatbed scanner. This holds true of the Epson WorkForce ES-400 II. It takes up far less space than a flatbed ( this is only 11 inches by 7 inches) and offers greater performance than most , if not all, flatbeds in the same price range. If you look at the specifications, you will see it can scan 35 PPM (pages per minute) of 70 IPM (images per minute.) The IPM reflects that the ES-400 II scans both sides of the document at the same time. To be honest, the scanner is so fast that it seems even faster. I have a Fujitsu from 10 years ago and it was one of the best at the time, the Epson WorkForce ES-400 II blows it away. Let’s take a look at basics - Installation : First, read the instructions. I didn’t and just plugged it in. It looked like the scanner installed but it could not find the drivers. The instructions clearly state you need to download the software first so I uninstalled the scanner and followed the instructions. No issues after that, it was up and running in 5 minutes. Features : Auto document feeder, easy to use controls, includes USB cable, solid weight and good fit and finish. Performance : As I stated this scanner is really fast. I think anything over 30 PPM is not noticeable for everyday use. The paper did jam once because the paper was folded at one time. The jam is easily accessible through the front of the unit. The WorkForce ES-400 II is also relatively quiet. Software – The Epson SmartScan software is adequate and does the job. You can scan directly to the full Microsoft Office suite as well as Dropbox and other services. For some reason , I could never get the scan directly email to work no matter what I tried ( I am using the current version of Outlook.) In conclusion, I really like the scanner. At first I was disappointed that it was not the upgraded wireless version but I quickly found that wireless really is not necessary for my needs. For the savings, I would stick with the USB version. Overall, I really like the WorkForce ES-400 II. It does what it says and the price is right. It will be bargain when it goes on sale. It does take a knock because I could not get it to scan directly to Outlook. I realize that is probably a configuration error but there is really nothing I could find in Epson support to figure out what the issue is. I do have other scanners that work fine with Outlook. Regardless, that is minor since it automatically saves the file and I can easily attach it to an email. Recommend – good bang for the buck and Epson precision.

Purchased this as a replacement to our $1000 scanners and for a fraction of the price the Epson scanner works on par plus gives us more options of how to use it. Definitely recommend!!
