Very Disappointing Printer

I've had it less than six months and I've had to uninstall and reinstall the software twice. It often feeds more than a single sheet. The set-up for settings is unusually complicated. I only got this because I needed a 2-tray unit so I could "easily" print either letter or landscape. I would never get this machine again.

Do NOT recommend this printer.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this printer a little under 3 years. It has been a disappointment. There have been constant paper feeder problems over the years - it picks up several sheets instead of just one and then you have your one page printed on 2 or 3 sheets of paper. The ink seems to need refilling at least twice a year and is NOT cheap. The final death knell was the scanner stopped working about 6 months ago - got a "scanner error" reading on the display - that would not go away with updates, etc. Could still print things from the computer, but the constant error message rendered the display and scanner useless. Finally there was some automatic update from Epson in November that killed it. Can't print at all now from the computer "printer needs attention". Looking now at a black/white laser option. If I need color I'll go somewhere and get it printed. Inkjet just isn't worth the hassle. And after this experience with Epson, I won't be buying an Epson again, either.

Slow, noisy, and limited to 24lb paper

In my case it does NONE of those things. It is connected via a USB cable to my computer but I have tried WiFi to see if that is faster. (answer is No). I could live with the slowness but the lack of support for 'thick' paper (anything over 24 lb) is the most disappointing. My previous Epson printers handled 110 lb cardstock with no problem. I have owned several Epson printers over the last 10 years but this one is my last! Customer service (2nd language only) and tech support are terrible and cannot solve problems with the equipment. Epson is no longer a decent product. Look elsewhere.

Stay Away from Epson Work Force Printers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Scanner Error...Epson Sent me a WF-4740 as a replacement for my WF-4640 which had "permanent errors". Its 5 months later and now the WF-4740 has a "scanner error" and won't power up. I've had nothing buy problems with it, head cleanings all the time, etc. And now after 30min on the phone with their tech support, Epson won't send another replacement for this one as it only had 30 days of warranty. I would stay away from Epson products. Going back to Canon who always had great customer service. And I've been reading lots more reviews of "scanner errors"

Do not buy this printer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this printer for about a month now and have found it to be very low quality. I work as a one person business and don't require anything near what you would call heavy duty printing needs. The autofeed scanner for scanning multiple documents misfeeds literally every single time I use it, rendering it virtually useless. It does the same when printing a multiple page document, it will print a page then add a blank page, then print a page etc. Definitely NOT recommended. Spend your money on a better printer.

can not just print black
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.30 days in first one had a clogged print head/ replaced by 3rd party the manufactures website doesn't even work to allow for warranty claims to be processed. I was hung up on multiple times by Epson service. -Can only print black and white if color cartridges are full. -Color cartridges go empty even when black and white are selected on both their application and the printing application. -you ask for a refund as it states in their operating manual you can print either and they hang up. 60 days of ownership and it doesn't work expensive paper weight.. Well the scanner works so at least there is that!

would definitely NOT buy again

Claims there is no connection even when a document had been printed minutes before over the same cable. Several times it has not recognized epson ink replacement cartridges. Recently, printer has become unable to recognize paper in tray. Put in 5x7 to print photo and printer insists that paper in the tray is 8.5x11. Restarted, took tray out, etc. but it will not print and there's no override. Anything that functions so poorly should be avoided.

Printer not worth $1

Then I was on customer service for hours, and it printed a few sheets, then would not work again. I replace the cartridges and the printer does not recognize them. The help screen will not leave the cartridge page to allow access to reset printer. The company sent me a new one and I am having the same issues. These printers are more bother than they are worth. Issues with wifi connectivity.

EPSON is garbage

You spend a lot of money thinking you are getting a good product but think again. We only print a few documents here and there and we had to replace the ink almost every time. Plus, the quality of the prints were terrible every time. NEVER AGAIN.

Now I am getting a refurb unit with who knows how many hours on it. Never buying Epson again, especially since it is over $100 for the replacement ink set.

Beware of Epson customer service

Then the paper jam error message went on when there was no paper jam on the refurbished printer. Epson declined to replace it. BEWARE!!!

Poor print quality

I have a feeling there is something wrong with the software settings. The Epson people say the printer is fine but cannot help with adjusting the print quality.

Byers Beware!!! $600 Down the Drain!!!

In less than two weeks, I have spent over $250 in toner, trying to clean the ink nozzle. Customer service and technical support was a huge waste of time as well.
