Dead, would not even power up
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was happy to see a somewhat advanced Epson printer for 50% off. So picked one up today to replace a 4 year old Kodak. Good thing I didn't toss out the old one first! I made room for the Epson and un-boxed it. Even looked at the set up sheet. Removed all the packing material and tape holding things down. Put the cord in and pluged it in (according to the directions). Hit the power button, and NOTHING! Switch the power cord around, and NOTHING. Switched outlets, and NOTHING! Carried it to a different room and plugged it in, and NOTHING! Called Epson service to see if there was a 2nd power button like on big copiers. Nope. Their solution was to try a different power cord. It's the only Epson I have??? Then they were going to ship me a power cord (it's just a cord not an adaptor too). Going back to the store tomorrow (too late tonight). Their QC is obviously lacking if the thing wont even power up the first time! Not so sure I should try the same one??? Absolutely DOA!

Terrible Product, with worse customer service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to tell you why I just purchased a Cannon printer. Roughly a year ago and less than 500 pages of printing I purchased this WF 3640 for approximately $150. It informed me I was running low on ink, so I replaced all cartridges for the cost of $60 from Epson. Since then my print quality us blurry at best, and unreadable with black ink. I then ordered new cartridges at the cost of $60, tried again. After spending more than 60 minutes with customer support we determined my product was bad and I was to mail it in. Replacement Process: First I was supposed to print off a mailing label that was sent to me. Remember my printer was broken. "How do I print it I asked", I was told to go to a Library and print it off. Second I was to go to a FedEx store and pay for shipping materials to mail this. ONLY AFTER Epson has received the old printer will they ship me a REFURBISHED model. In short if I had taken my original printer, thrown it out my window, and not wasted $120 on ink cartridges, I would have ended up with a new Cannon printer for less. Let alone spend more time and money on shipping. I cannot tell you how to run away from this or any Epson products faster.

Uses too much ink
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My outdated HP printer was still going strong, but was missing some of the newer wi-fi features and I needed a scanner. I saw that this printer got good reviews on several lists, so I got it. The biggest problem with this printer is that its print heads constantly need to be cleaned since it regularly prints with streaks -- and when you clean the print heads, it drains a lot of the ink from the cartridges. I cannot recommend this printer to anyone unless they want to constantly replace the ink (and can afford to). I am also not impress with the color of the printing -- it is very washed out color.

Broke after 1.5 years!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I live on a tight budget so when I make a major purchase like a printer, I am NOT planning to have to buy one for another few years. I liked it WHEN it was working. It still scans but I can't print. I will say also that the ink does run out more quickly than expected, and it won't let you print just b/w when it does. NOT HAPPY

Document Fed Scanner Issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Epson WorkForce WF-3640 yesterday and will be returning it today. I usually am very happy with Epson products but this one has been a headache since it was installed. The scanner is not a 'work force'. It is a work staller! It jams after scanning 2 pages. It scans one just fine, but in my business I am scanning multiple pages all day long.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER !!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER !! I own a IT company and we have tried many products over the years, This is one product I can tell you to NOT buy. The ink will clog the injector. We had this model in our office in less then 4 months of VERY light use experience poor blotchy prints and now it does not even print. We have done all the "tricks" posted online about EPSON printers to clear the clogs and some work but you must keep maintaining this unit to a degree I have NEVER had to with HP product. I will NEVER again recommend EPSON Inkjet product to any of my customers. VERY disappointed. I am appalled at the shear number of "clogging" issues I see posted for EPSON products. HOW CAN THIS PRODUCT HAVE 4 out of 5 stars???????? There is NO WAY!!!

Epson printers aren't good at all, buy an HP
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very very dissapointed by this printer, didn't even last a year! Once the print heads got clogged, it would never print right again, no matter how many times I tryed the clean print head function! I would never buy another epson or lexmark printer again, I currently have an HP Photosmart printer and it has been fantastic, the best printer i've ever owned, and it was cheaper then this epson!

Slow Slow slow when printing color
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been trying to get a 74 page catalogue printed for over an HOUR. Quality is fine, but good grief!! Would never buy this again. I bought it to replace a HP. Not sure if won't return within the 14 days, but I already invested in ink cartridges to boot.

Hardware Failure on Two Different Machines
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Within one month of purchase, gaps appeared in prints and cleaning did not solve the problem. Epson authorized an exchange at Best Buy, believing their was a hardware failure. Now, one year and 4 months later of very light use on my 2nd printer (I design Web sites, not printed materials) I am receiving an error code: 0x9A. Printer fails to boot up. Epson tells me there is a hardware failure, but I am out of warranty. They offer me a discount on another Epson, but apparently this machine is not built to last. I had a Canon for 12 years, and I think I'm going back to that brand.

Horrible from the start
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Endured this printer as living 84 miles out of town in boonies. Had to reset print quality every time used. Otherwise skipped when printing documents. Used up ink like crazy. (How when skipping?) Finally the error code 0x97. Start to print and then quit. Error code. Did what the gurus told me to do, to no avail. Reviews said 0x97 code meant motherboard failure. Buy new one recommended. I went to another brand. I fought this thing for two years. No more Epson's. My new printer prints so well, I feel like I stepped out of a cave into sunlight.

okay, not great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Does not stay connected to my network, in order to print wirelessly I have to reconnect every time. Prints great on 110 lb card stock, but the quality is not the best.

don't buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading the reviews for the Epson WF-3640 I purchased it. Big mistake. I've had it 9 months and I'm on my second one. It keeps wanting me to clean the printer heads almost every time I turn it on. I've talked with Epson and after several e-mails and phone calls they replaced it. I've had the new one only 3 weeks and it is doing the same thing. I've decided to chuck it and buy a different printer. I will give Epson this the return process was easy once they decided it needed to be replaced.

Could be better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ink quality was never good, splochy. Do not put anything slightly heavy (like a book) on top of the feeder. It ruined the feeder and now I have to buy a new one...

Worse Printer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the worse printer I have ever owned. From the beginning I had problems printing from different devices and had to spend considerable time with support to correct the problem on several occasions. I also had problems all of a sudden using the scanner and had to contact support to correct that. It finally broke due to a hardware malfunction before I had it 2 years and I was not a heavy user. I will never buy an Epson again.

Best Buy has Worst Return Policy of any Retailer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this printer online from Best Buy. BUT a 15 day return policy?? How ridiculous is that? Even the "dollar" stores give you 30 days to return items. This printer comes with poor instructions. The online support is too generic. Not compatible with Macbook Pro laptop. Could not get any of the print drivers to work. Best Buy support was clueless. This will be the last purchase from Best Buy. I will be surprised if they are still in business throuogh Christmas.

Poor print quality. Cumbersome setup.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Poor print quality even at best quality print settings. Eligible unless at best print quality. Cumbersome wireless setup with MacBook Pro, windows7 PC and iPhone. Okay scanning quality and okay document feeder. Needless to say returned after 2 weeks of putting up with this printer.

6 months out of warranty printer died
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Printing was okay. I liked the double-sided functionality. Scanning and copy functionality was also okay. However, 6 months out of warranty it simply died. Won't power on. Verified power was good through the cord. Not sure if the power supply simply died but for the price paid it's not worth sending back for repair.
