The application of m1 escort is slow and so is the camera to watch the videos of the recordings. To see the video playback in real time you have to deactivate the Internet data of the application settings. otherwise you can not enter the application

The Escort M1 Dashcam is a compact video camera which captures some of the clearest, crispest and totally in focus images that I have ever seen. My unit was coupled with the Escort IXc, and tested on my 2018 Honda Accord sedan. When I first tested this unit, I neglected to remove the clear plastic lens protector from the M1 Dashcam unit. During a local 40 minute drive, the unit made around 41 one minute film clips. Talk about clarity, second to none (even with the plastic cover on the lens!) The images were even better when I tested the unit later on and the plastic cover was removed. The camera has a real wide range of view with respect to traffic areas. It had no problem with the capture of at least 3 lanes of traffic on the righthand side of the road, and also will capture the median and 3 lanes of traffic on the other side of the road (and lots more). This especially is crucial when it comes to an accident and the recording of valuable film footage in proving ones innocence. Vibration or shaking on video playback was absent. I believe this to be a direct result of the mounting hardware which seems to be doing an outstanding job. Clear video is a must and this dashcam certainly delivers. The sound recording in my opinion was adequate, and road noise (even when windows were closed) was also picked up by the M1 Dashcam. Overall the Escort M1 Dashcam is a winner, and I love this unit. I think you'll be as pleased as I with your purchase. Buy one.

Videos where not stable at all. needed and wanted something with better stabilization.

Only has forward facing camera. For the price, you can find better quality resolution and dual camera systems.

Works good but the app has connectivity issues with apple products. I was going to return but ran past the date.

Never got it to work never received support. It sits in the desk drawer.

To use this dash cam, you will need the radar detector that works with this dash cam.

This dash cam is meant as a companion to the Escort iXc radar detector, but could be used by itself if you wanted to buy a seperate window mount and power adapter for it, which are very pricey. First is setting up the dash cam on to the window mount for the radar detector. In the box is an attachment arm and longer adjustment screw. The old one needs to be taken off of the window mount, put the new arm on, and screw in the new longer adjuster. This is where things get tricky. When having to take out the adjusting screw on the mount, it also loosens the adjustment for the radar detector. It is simple to put the new arm onto the window mount, but trying to line everything back up is a major pain. When the radar detector is hung on the mount, there is almost no room to get your fingers in and tighten the adjustment screw to be able to get the right angle on your window, especially trying to get it tight enough. I ended up breaking the mount for the camera trying to turn the knob to tighten. After the fact I would consider to anyone to use a pair of pliers or grips to grab a hold of the knob to tighten it. My camera mount broke right where the adjustment screw goes through.. Luckily I was able to superglue it back and it has held in place just fine since, although it now takes away my ability to adjust the radar in the future, but it is all aligned so no need for that. Everything else I can say about this dash cam is great! Next you should install the Escort M1 Dashcam app. You don't absolutely HAVE to have it, as the camera does come with a removable micro SD card, but you do need it to adjust the settings of the camera. Once you download the app and first use it, you will have to connect through wifi to the camera and it will show up in your list and the app will provide a temporary password to connect to wifi, in which you can change later once all set up. Once connected, it will show you a live view of your dash cam, and give you a few buttons for options like settings, captures, and recording. The camera is set up to start recording automatically once powered on, which is indicated by a flashing green light on the back of the camera. It is very easy to access everything in the app, but the downside to this is that when connected to wifi, you can't access any other internet on your device, because the wifi is connected to the camera directly. I have not found any adjustments on my phones wifi settings to bypass the wifi when connected to a non internet source.. Retrieving and watching your video's is easy. Just click the button with pictures on it and it will take you to another screen with App folders and Edit video. Clicking on app folders will allow you to enter the camera's SD card and you will get a list of all the recordings on the card. Each one will have a down arrow next to it, which when pressed will download the video to your phone which can only be accessed through the app. When downloaded it will show back up in your app folders area, and also then in your edit videos folder and you don't have to be connected to the camera to watch your downloaded video's. It does take a few minutes to download the videos, depending on the length of time you set each video to record for. Watching videos can also be a bit laggy until it is downloaded, as it has bad latency trying to watch it over a wifi connection. I recommend keeping your recording set to 1080x30fps. The overall video clarity is very sharp and clear, even at night. The audio recording is also very clear. If you listen to music during the recording, it will sound distorted during playback if watching on your device, but when connected to your car speakers or another audio device, it is crystal clear like you are sitting in your car and hearing like when you were driving; even with subs, to an extent. After downloading it will give the share icon next to your downloaded video, which will allow you to share to a large selection of sources. Overall this camera is an awesome addition to the radar detector, but having a stand alone version would be great! With its app control, great camera quality and sound pickup, it is hard to ask for more. Escort just needs to re-design the mounting configuration, as it is definitely the downfall of this whole thing. Even with that, I would still strongly recommend this camera!

As it is, you can do a quick magnetic disconnect of the detector, but the M1 is mechanically attached to the suction cup mount. The M1’s primary attraction is having a very light, compact dash cam built to attach to Escort Radar Detectors in one package – remove the suction cup mount and both the Escort Radar Detector and M1 Dash Cam come off in one package. Since they’re designed to work together, there’s only one power source/cord required. If you want a small, light dash cam working with an Escort radar detector while only using one power source/plug, the M1 fits that bill perfectly while giving you good video in the process.

I thought it came with a radar but its only a camera

There seems to be so many dash cams out there to choose from these days, and it is such a genius design to tie it in with the radar detector. Tucks in nicely behind the rear view mirror and provides so much peace of mind knowing I am protected should someone cause an accident and try to make up their own facts of what happened. The picture is a really, really great quality and the wireless connection to the phone works seamlessly. With this and the radar detector as a package, I couldn't have designed it better myself. All the parts have a sturdy build, connection, and installation. This camera was definitely not an afterthought or last minute add-on, they spent some real quality time perfecting the design. Zero complaints, and I tell everyone about it!!

This dash camera does it's job nicely! It records at 1080p resolution and it's crystal clear. The Florida heat doesn't seem to bother it at all, and how it mounts along side the Escort IXC radar detector is brilliant - I wish more companies would let their products "bundle mount" like these do! Just like with the IXC radar detector I am using with this camera, the software that you run on your phone to integrate with this camera is the only thing that kept me from giving this unit 5 stars. Again, it needs the ability to be run on Android Auto screen along with Apple Car Play so that you can view / control it from your car's screen instead of the phone that the software is running on. A great camera - I highly recommend it, especially if you're running a current model Escort radar detector.

What a great addition to my windshield. I can't wait till these are incorporated into the radar detector itself. One less thing to stand out. Set up was simple using my pixel. The lense has a great wide angle and a superb picture. It would be nice if you could rotate the camera to record the cab and have it automatically flip the image. I am super satisfied with this dash camera and can't wait to see what else Escort comes out with!

This device works in conjunction with the Escort Radar Detector and is easy to mount to the detector and is very easy to set up and use. I liked the features and enabled me to protect myself while on the road plus it keeps an eye out for radar guns and the presence of radars as I drive. I would highly recommend this device to anyone looking for a streamlined item to use with your Escort detector.

The Escort M1 is my first exposure to a dash cam. I wish I could say it was a positive overall experience. Once it arrived I broke it out of the box and connected it up to my Escort iXc. The device is pretty compact and attached quickly to the iXc mount. Pairiing via the built-in WiFi was pretty straightforward and the M1 app on my iPhone picked it up immediately. Now I should clarify that you must be connceted to the WiFi SSID that the M1 broadcasts in order for it to be seen in the app which makes further internet connectivity via your phone's WiFi tricky. Once I got things linked up I was immediately hit with a problem. I couldn't see the Live View via my phone. I was constantly told the camera was busy. I could manually start and stop recordings, but I couldn't stream what it was seeing nor could I stream the previously saved clips. Poking around the internet it seems that Escort has previously stated that this is a T-Mobile issue which, frankly, I have no idea how or why that would be the issue, but it has pretty much stopped me in my tracks for making the M1 usable for me. I did pull the SD card to see what the video quality looked like and the 1080p30 video is certainly functional. I'm a bit surprised by the low frame rate at 1080p, but there is a 720p60 option if you need something a bit more fluid albeit at the cost of resolution. Overall, I am hard pressed to recommend this camera especially if you are on T-Mobile. Simple fact of the matter is there are more capable dash cams for less.

I got this as a companion for my Escort iXC to record the shenanigans that happen during my daily commute. This uses the same RJ11 power source as most of the newer Escort radar detector, which saves you from needing to run another power cord. By default, the camera is configured to automatically record on power up. There's no need to press any buttons to start/stop as the data is written to a MicroSD card. Once the card is full, it will overwrite the oldest files as you'd expect. Using the M1 app, you can configure recording quality, length of recording, sound on/off and G-sensor to auto-lock files if you're in an accident. You can also download files from the camera directly to your smartphone. I never counted the number of recordings I was able to keep before the files started being overwritten, but it was a lot. If you lock the files, they do not get overwritten.

I love this dash cam. It takes crystal clear video. It has a great lens and is so simple to connect and go.

The camera is an OK add-on to the Escort radar detector. I found one issue with the way the camera mounts that has caused me to not use it. The camera mounts to the suction cup that attaches to the windshield. However, the radar detector has a magnet mount to attach to the suction cup so it can easily be removed when parking the vehicle without having to remove the suction cup. However with the camera attached directly to the suction cup, the whole thing has to be be removed from the windshield to store it. Would have been nice to have the camera attach to the detector so they could easily be removed together leaving the suction cup intact on the windshield.
