    Great Radar Detector

I purchased my Escort 9500ix Radar Detector over a month ago and I can not say enough good about it. I previously owned a Cobra 979 detector. It picked up so many false signals I got to the point where I did not bother turning it on. I researched to see what was new out there and found the Escort 9500ix. It had excellent reviews. The feature that I love the best about it is the Auto Learn ability. This radar detector has GPS and it will lock out a false signal if it is detected 3 times at the same GPS spot. After traveling to work 3 days it learned and blocked out all the false signals. Now I drive knowing that if it picks up a signal it must be police. It also will unlock a signal if you pass that spot 3 times and it it no longer there. For example recently they had one of those radar/speed signs up for 2 weeks that said your speed is and shows your speed. After passing it 3 times it locked it out. When they took it away the detector realizes it is no longer there and unlocks that spot. You also have the ability to manually lock out a spot and to mark spots like known speed traps. I was traveling the PA turnpike and found it picked up a cop using radar well over 3 miles. If you don't want false alarms then you want this detector!

This radar detector is the best one I've ever owned. Its range and accuracy are just incredible, and the GPS false-alert learning is an excellent feature. I've owned radar detectors in the past from Cobra and Beltronics, and none of those come close to matching the Escort Passport 9500iX. This one little piece of technology has saved me from many potential tickets in the 15 months that I've owned it, and I'm not exactly a lead-footed driver. Some people purchase these devices so they can go as fast as they want, thinking that there's no way they can get a ticket, which is the wrong reason to get one. I use it as a reminder so that if I happen to go over the limit a bit without realizing it, or if I'm going a bit over because I'm in a hurry for one reason or another, it well let me know when I need to check my speed before getting pulled over. I've actually had this detector give me a warning up to 8 miles away from a police hiding spot. The only things it can't always guarantee in-advance detection on are instant-on radars and laser speed detectors. They do let you know once they're detected, but due to the instant nature of those enforcement devices, it's usually too late by then unless they're aimed at someone other than you. I'm very happy with this purchase, and I don't ever regret spending the $500 on it versus the no-longer-top-of-the-line $400 Valentine 1. If anyone tells you the 9500iX is no good or doesn't work, then they're either lying or they just don't know how it's supposed to work.

I have seen the reviews for this and bought it on a deal. However, It has some issues. So, I returned this. It did not work sometimes, when police cars are really near. Most of the times, it did work.

Distance is not very good. You need to spend more than the sale price to get proper protection. Not worth full price for sure. Escort Redline or Beltronics STI Magnum are best.

I have several for use in each car, this model doesn't appear to be as responsive as their lower end units. Great extras but we all buy these things for the heads up.

Most Innovative Radar Detector on the Market

    Posted .

The 9500IX is in a league of own period. There is no other dedicated radar detector on the market that provides the list of features as the 9500IX does with the performance. The 9500IX’s advantage of other existing radar detectors is all because it employs GPS technology in companionship with radar detector technology. This enables the 9500IX to lock out false signals, give speed readings, and mark red light camera and speed trap locations. These new tools are valuable assets in helping determine when a true threat is present. In addition to GPS, Escort provides a database of known red light cameras and speed traps which is frequently updated. The 9500IX has new innovative features that aren’t found on other radar detectors. It also has standard features that are found on a lot of other radar detectors like digital signal processing or DSP. This is a must when choosing a radar detector as it is vital in processing signals and determining the validity of the signal being a threat or not. In short, the better the DSP the fewer falses you will get. My experience with the 9500IX has been exceptional. The range on the 9500IX, which is probably the most important thing, is great. I was able to pick up true threat radar signals sometimes from miles away. This was mostly over mostly straight level highway. The 9500IX also does well finding radar signals originating from around curves. The distance is not as great but it is still sufficient enough to correct speed if need be. Detecting radar signals over hills, I find to be good but if the hills are very deep, you may not get a warning till you are pretty close to the origin of the signal. The GPS feature is a franchise player in the making. It provides big time assistance in determining real threats by blocking out false signals. The signals can either be locked out manually or by the system itself if you pass by a false signals three times. This is specifically helpful when you travel a stretch of road a lot. The 9500IX will eventually store all the false signals present alone the road or highway and you will be able to drive more confidently knowing that any signals you receive after the 9500IX has stored all the false signals will be real threats. I also got a chance to test the embedded database of red light cameras while driving through Montgomery, Al. This works. I was alerted to intersections with red light cameras and was able to find the cameras to confirm they were there. So far, I haven’t gotten any false alarms for red light cameras either. The ability to mark locations is nice too. The stretch of interstate I travel to work every day is about 30 miles and is patrolled regularly. There is one location which is used a lot to run radar but not all the time. I was able to mark this location with the 9500IX which helps at night when you don’t know exactly where you are on the highway because it is dark. The database for the 9500IX is very easy to update. You just go to Escort’s website and download the software you will need to connect to the 9500IX with your PC. The software is easy to use and will merge any datapoints your 9500IX has with Escort’s database update. You will need to register your 9500IX with Escort to do this though. The software will also let you change the settings from your PC instead of using interface of the 9500IX while in your vehicle if you like too. I have nothing but good things to say about to the 9500IX. I would recommend this radar detector to anyone who is in the market for one. The 9500IX is not just about aiding someone in speeding but making drivers aware of their surroundings such as red light cameras and speed traps as well as the traditional radar threat. The only real drawback to the 9500IX is its price. The price can make you cringe and select another radar detector. That can be a mistake as the 9500IX can pay for itself very quickly with all of its usefulness.

Best Radar Detector on The Market! Hands Down.

I have owned many radar detectors & was a fan of my Valentine One Radar for years until I gave this Escort 9500ix a try. I was blown away at all the features & GPS location with the ability to store unnecessary alerts. This detector does it all and since it learns where you drive - i never have to worry about false alerts. Not only that, it also tells you about upcoming Red Light Traffic Intersections & known Speed Traps. Its sleek, fast, and very easy to use. I recommend this to anyone looking for a great quality radar detector. Its pays itself off if you are willing to pay the price for it but you wont regret this purchase. It has already saved me from many tickets on the highway.

This particular product is mediocre at best, if I had it my way I would return it for a full refund. This radar functions the same as it's cheaper brother but more costly. I haven't had my unit very long and it's already giving me problems, not happy with the product.

After a month of use, I have found this detector to have excellent performance. The range is very good. The automatic storing of false alerts stemming from automatic doors and such is the primary reason to justify spending so much for the device. I would most likely not use a detector that alerts all the time for non-enforcement triggers. After driving past the shopping centers three times the unit displayed "stored" and no longer alerts to these alarms. To gain the same range and sensitivity one would need to spend at least 1/2 the amount of this detector. But the false alerts would be unbearable. If you are in the market for a detector, this one is recommended!
