This is my first Escort radar detector. The Uniden that I replaced lasted for 23 years. Not sure that I really like this one yet. Will take some time to get used to it.

Does Not Pick up Long range like my previous built in one. The new built in 360 is too expensive. Was glad lazer picks up on this however

    Best portable detector available

Great features, especially using Android or IPhone APP over Bluetooth connection. IMO, having a detector with GPS and the ability to auto lock out nuisance alarms (door openers and such) is crucial to ones enjoyment. This device has all modern features, great detection range and is customizable to a great extent (colors, sounds, etc,). If you are going to purchase a detector, it is best IMO to go toward the higher end. Otherwise you will not enjoy the constant false alarms which the detector wihout GPS built-in cannot ignore.

Usually I read a lot of reviews before making a significant purchase like this. Overall Escort Passport Max 2 had better reviews and handful of latest features such as bluetooth and built in GPS. So having all the features I wanted, I have decided to take a dip and bought one. I drive more than 2,000 miles a month for my work. I have been using this for more than a month now and my observations are: Pros: + Builtin GPS + Builtin Bluetooth + 1 year subscription to Escort Live included + Stores frequent K band locations while using WITH Escort Live (see cons) Cons: - Does not memorize K Band locations when NOT using with Escort Live app. - Does not memorize X Band locations at all - Forced to use NoX settings due to continued annoyance of non-memorizing X band alerts. - Escort Live app shutdown after 10 minutes of non-movement and have to manually start the app again when you start driving. If you drive to a place where Speed Limit warning sign with K band radar exists, on the third day it will say "stored" and no more audio warnings for next couple of days. After couple of days, if you pass the same location, it will start beeping and have to mute manually. This is major factor for me and I am considering returning this unit. I did not expect such under performance with a built-in GPS unit. This is very annoying and you have to use it with Escort Live all the time to avoid audio alerts. I paid premium amount to use it with more convenience with or without Live App and subscription. Instead it has become more annoying that I have to turn on the App each time to work this unit properly. In short, if I decide to use this unit without Escort Live subscription, I will have to mute frequent location manually every few day's interval. I would not recommend this product wth the shortcomings for the premium price.

    One Great Detector!!!

Contrary to what some seem to believe a radar detector does not detect cop cars. Radar detectors detect radar signals. A LEO must have his radar unit turned on to be detected. I've been testing a MAX2 pilot production unit for almost 3 months and will miss it when it comes time to return it to Escort. I am just a casual user but I prefer the Max2 to my 9500ix. Built in Bluetooth for Escort Live is very worthwhile as it is compatible with both iPhone and Android. Those that direct wire a Max2 in their car can use Escort Live in a rental or any other car without having to buy a second Escort Live cord. A solid all around defector that is a great choice. For a combination of city and highway driving I can't think of any detector I'd rather use. If mine were lost/stolen I would replace it with another Max2

I'm a long time detector user and have used the 9500ix since 09 when I purchased it from best buy and it still works great.. However finding myself wanting the newer m5 antenna which the max 2 uses and increased instant on protection which is becoming even more popular in my area.. This thing catches instant on shots on both my stalker dsr radar at.. . 3 second on 34.7ghz where as my 9500ix cannot catch anything faster than around. . 8 of a second and this is critical for any quick bursts you may encounter.. On 35.5 it's just as fast... This thing is an absolute beast over all.. Best detector out there for overall performance.. A band segd escort red line will be faster but the gps capabilities is top notch with the speed this thing delivers :)

The Max 2 is a great detector it give you plenty of warning to slow down you can also store false alerts. I find the Max2 to preform best for me with the display set to show the Fq thats being shot that way you can learn the radar fq police use in your area and week out false alerts

Have it for over a year and it has saved my butt plenty of times! Only problem I have is where it connects to window mount. Mount is metal, detector is plastic. The connection either wore out or broke? It pops off when you hit a bump!

    DSP Technology IS REAL!!!!!

I have owned several different detectors over the years including the 9500ix and have an STIR-Plus built into my other car. I live in Orange County CA so I go through all sorts of high radar areas and drive by ton's of exotic cars with adaptive cruise control. So, what I can tell you right away about this detector is that with TSR OFF (That's Right Off) this detector is WHISPER QUIET!!! In places where my other 2 detectors originally false detected, this one went through without a sound. I actually thought it wasn't working at first and then BEEP!!!! "KA BAND" and sure enough about a mile and a half up the road Ponch and John had someone less fortunate than myself at the side of the road. We were traveling from the OC on the 405 and 5 up to San Jose and I honestly only had 6 falses the entireway up, 4 X Band 2 K's. It saved me on 3 confirmed occasions, with plenty of warning time. The only reason it isn't getting 5 stars is for 2 reasons. the 1st is build quality. The outer shell seams flimsy and creaks with the slightest pressure on it, it just feels cheap. The 2nd is connecting to Escort Live. It can take 2 to 4 attempts before Escort Live Recognizes the unit on my iPhone 6S. Aside from those caveats this is an excellent detector.

I purchased this back in August of 2015 and just a few weeks ago the device wont turn on anymore.. I thought it was the smartcord because the lights would flash on the smartcord when i plug it in but would turn right off. I borrowed a friends cord just to verify and it did the exact same thing. I never dropped it or have misused it. I plugged in the usb to my computer and it finally turns on by showing the usb symbol but will not turn on when plugged in the car. Very disappointing because this thing worked amazing! Saved me from plenty of tickets and the day it stopped working.. I got stopped by a cop. I would rate this 5 Stars but it wont turn on anymore! Extremely dissatisfied

I have bought this radar detector/laser scanner within the past week and some..this radar has not detected more than 2 cops in the time, yet I see them physically and this "detector" does not even go off..this could possibly be because of the recently released guns that were issued however I know that not every cop/police car is equipped with the most up to date technology as soon as it comes out. For the value you are definitely overpaying for it..I strongly recommend to wait for a update or just drive the speed limit. I will be returning it.
