i bought this for my boyfriend and he likes it but just not the fact that it uses batteries

Seems to work just as well as my 9500. When you use this radar without power cord at times you don't remember if it's on.

It was easy to use, worked perfectly and saved us plenty of times from State patrol! Great buy all the way!!

I bought this detector based on my previous experience with Passport. This model will work on batteries which makes for a trivial installation. Just attach the suction cup mount to the windshield and mount the detector. The unit will automatically shut off after 20 minutes of the vehicle not moving. For a long trip you can plug in the unit to a cigarette lighter outlet, although I think that the battery would last for at least 8 hours.

No need to run a cable from this radar detector to your cigarette lighter as this detector runs off 2 AA batteries. Maybe not quite the long range of some other radar detectors but this is out-weighed by the convenience and the detection remains more than enough for me.

Very easy to use, sleek look and high quality. It does beep with false alarms driving by department stores but it's not perfect. It's well worth the money and it a great product.

This radar detector is cordless which is perfect for moving it from car to car or being able to hide it when leaving my car in a parking lot.

I think very highly of the Escort name and have owned their products in the past. This is the first time I have ever been disappointed but it's probably more due to the design of my vehicle than the detector. I have no close 12V outlet and I was forced to purchased a cordless detector. Of course, Escort was my first choice. I did not want to have a detector hard wired and I figured cordless was the way to go. While I like it, here's the drawbacks...it eats batteries (probably two AA's every two weeks), no mute button other than an auto mute feature and the big thing: SOMETIMES YOU FORGET TO TURN IT ON or off. Yes, I know it's my problem but it can sense no motion for 20 minutes to turn itself off. Why can't it sense motion to alert me to turn it on?

Fantastic product, works great. The wiring has a mute button on it so no need to reach up to the windshield to mute it

I have been using the solo's for the past 10 years and this is the third model I have had. I just like to stay with normal traffic flow but there are times when these units have been a real money and point saver. Very dependable and I like the cordless feature.

Saved me many times. The range isn’t as great as the wired escort radars but overall a great product.

Works great not many false alarms. Would be nice if it came with a power cord incase you don't have new batteries when the old ones stop. Other then that it's a solid 4.

I have other Escort detectors that are wired and perform better but some of my cars don’t have a lighter socket so this battery powered model does the job.

This radar has saved me a couple times. It is able to detect police with radar guns pretty early. The thing that sold me on this radar detector the most was that it was wireless. I hate dealing with wires. I am able to get the best of both worlds and I love this device.

I love this Solo Radar Detector. It runs on AA batteries so there is no need to plug it in. Simply turn it on for instant radar scanning of the road ahead and behind. When I use a different vehicle I simple pick it up and move it to the car I am using.

It doesn't detect the radar until your practically on top of the cop. I like it because unlike the older radar guns, this one does not pick up house or business alarms.

The radar seems to work very well. However, I only had it for a month or so and I have to replace the bateries 3 times. I drive a lot during the day and it will be better if the product included a normal lighter plug in.
