Tried it first week owned on a trip up north. Had to pass an officer before it would work. Returned it after my trip. Went back to my previous corded model.

Looks to work fine on a highway out of town but to me it sets off to many false alarms in the city. The Best Buy door makes it go crazy.

I bought this for a 5 hour trip weekly and I got a ticket. It did not work

Do not hesitate if your interested in buying this radar. Absolutely worth it!! It has great range, no false alarms like some other radars, picks up almost every police radar I've driven past. Also it is sleek lightweight, really nice OLED display and long battery life. Escort made a perfect product here thank you! Accurate long range with no wires.

Not worth the price previously owned a cheap one that excelled compared to this piece or...... Insert French vocabulary.

Use on the freeway and it doesn't go off even as I pass an officer with their radar gun pointed at my vehicle.

This detector is pricey, but a fairly good value. I've had excellent performance from this new version. I've owned two S2 Solo's, and while decent and serviceable units, this one exceeds them in every area. Better range, battery life, fewer false alarms, and the new OLED screen is a significant improvement over the prior LCD. But, the real reason to purchase this unit is the portability and convenience of a battery powered detector. It's naturally not going to have the range and sensitivity of a wired unit, but there's no contest when it comes to using it in multiple vehicles.

I bought the device for a road trip thinking it would help me out with because i like to speed. i watch several state trooper out on the highway with radar guns and it did go off not one single time.

This detector is pricey, but is a good value. Range is better with it plugged into the car but is still good while on Batteries , Battery life is great compared to other brands I’ve owned. But, the real reason to purchase this unit is the portability and convenience of a battery powered detector, I spend a lot of time in rental cars and this Detector is great for that.

2 XCOUNTRY TRIPS USNIG THE S3 After two 3000 mile cross country trips using this detector I can without any hesitation recommend this radar detector. No bells and whistles here just straight up "cordless" radar detection with really good battery life. With between 40-50 hours on a set of regular Duracells I have more than half-life left on them. The portability of the S3 is great.

Only battery operated in the batteries die very quick great idea to have no cords but terrible product

I used this a full month before writing this review. First off, don't believe some of the battery life stories. I had good Duracell's in there and it lasted about 5 weeks before it said to replace. That's the only negative I can think of. I was able to easily disable X and K bands which go off at intersections and shopping malls w electronic doors. The Ka and Laser detection works fine. Every time I got a Ka alert i would see a highway patrol within 20-30 seconds. Got a couple laser detections too, but it was properly cars collision systems rather than cops. So this detector does work just fine, only drawback is it may not have the distance of the more expensive detectors. Try and get it on sale for $329 and it is a nice little deal.

You can pay now or pay the traffic court later. This has served its purpose 4 times and I have only had it one week net savings $425.00

I bought this to replace a $99 radar detector I have had for some time as I started traveling more. Numerous police cars and not a single detection. I figured I would hook up my cheap one next to it. Sure enough, the S3 is not going off and the cheap one is. Even on a construction speed limit sign, it did not trigger until the last second. Going back for a different model.

Great batteries. Wish they were a tad cheaper...who doesn't! ;)

DO NOT BUY THIS!!! YOU WILL BE VERY DISAPPOINTED!! GET THE 9500IX! YOU WILL BE SO MUCH HAPPIER THAT YOU DID WHEN YOU HAVE NO MORE FALSE ALERTS TO WORRRY ABOUT. THAT IS ALL, JUST GET THE 9500ix AND YOU WILL NOT WANT ANY OTHER DETECTOR!!!

I wanted to try my first and best radar detector but it didn't work at all. The only signal I got was the radar satellites from the top of buildings. I've passed by several police cars, including the local police, county sheriff, and highway patrol. None of them were detected. I think radar detectors don't really work. They are just a toy. Law enforcement is always one step ahead. They have the latest technology, even before a radar detector manufacturer builds a radar detector.

I bought this detector because of the great reviews I have read on best buy site as well other sites. I expected the range to be shorter then my passport 8500 x50 but this thing is horrible. It does not pick up until you are almost on top of the cop and or radar sign Going back and being exchanged for another corded detector
