Customers commend the eufyCam 2 for its excellent camera quality, long battery life, and ease of setup. Positive feedback also highlights the system's effective night vision and convenient local storage option, eliminating the need for cloud subscriptions. However, some users reported inconsistencies with the motion detection feature, suggesting areas for potential improvement. The system's motion detection sometimes fails to capture events or experiences delays in recording.

I am always conscious about home security so although I already have an Arlo 4K camera I decided to add two more cameras. I could have added another Arlo but for the price of this package I was able to get 2 cameras. I was a bit wary of trying a different brand since Arlo works so well but I figured I would give Eufy a try. First impression upon unboxing was a really quality, Apple like product. My only complaint though was no instructions! I know everything is in the app and/or online but it's disconcerting a little to not even see a little poster showing the basics and/or a link to look at. But this was a minor complaint because the app was so good at walking you through everything and it was so simple that anyone could do it. After about 20 minutes, most of that was unboxing I was set up. The only thing of note during setup was it tells you during the setup to press the sync button but I did that and it didn't sync. I thought "uh-oh" but I tried it again and this time I held the button down for about 2 seconds on the base unit and it made a noise and everything synced up. I felt this should have been noted in the app to say push and hold briefly instead of just "push the button". Again minor issue though. So, in conclusion, the setup was amazingly easy. The cameras themselves are a little more rectangular than rounded/square such as the Arlo is. I think they look more in the vein of typical old school security cameras so I think they look really cool. There are two ways to mount them, either using a very strong magnet (which is how I mounted my Arlo) or a screw-in method where you mount the holder on the wall, then screw in the camera to the mount. Neither way will stop a criminal from snatching your camera, although the latter will make it a bit more time consuming and risky. There's also a really nice feature where if the camera is moved at all after you've mounted it then it'll set off an alarm on the camera as well as the base station. I have not tested this yet but I have read from other reviews that it's fairly loud but not ear splitting either. Now it also has a nice feature where it can detect humans only instead of all movement and puts a little snapshot of the human face on the clip, which is really nice. However, the Arlo camera goes one step further, indicating vehicles and animals as well. But I think the Eufy method is sufficient for security purposes. The actual picture on the camera is really really clear and I have moved the cameras around and they present movement really well without clipping or getting behind in the frames so this means they have sufficient frames per second to capture everything without being grainy. Another nice thing about the Eufy camera is it uses an SD card and actually comes with a card to use, a 16GB card, which will be sufficient for most people's use to store recent clips. If you plan to go away for weeks at a time though you may want to buy a bigger SD card. Also, there are no subscription fees for Eufy which is really nice in this day and age. My only other complaints here are that this camera does not yet work with Homekit (Eufy says they're looking into that possibility in the near future) and the app is written for an iPhone and there is no iPad app (so you have to use the double the screen method and turn your iPad). This camera system is high quality and Eufy needs to do like Arlo and create an actual iPad app for monitoring purposes. Bottom line, I really am very happy with this camera set. I think it'll work really well with the Arlo to help ensure my home has no evil shenanigans going on. I haven't yet decided where I am going to permanently mount these but I know I'm going to mount them up pretty high (just in case someone does want to try to snatch the camera). I'm really excited about these being wireless and by that I mean the cameras really have zero wires. This allows great freedom in where to mount, only being restricted by your wi-fi signal. I'd heartily recommend this camera package to anyone in the market for a viable and affordable home security, zero-recurring charges, solution. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Oh man. These cameras are great. Right out of the box they feel substantial, not flimsy or made out of cheap plastic. They have a nice solid weight to them. It says the best way to charge them is through the supplied hub for 8 hours, but I charged mine directly from our outlets for 24hr before I began to setup for use. If you have other products that use a micro usb cord to charge, these will come in handy to charge both at the same time. The one complaint that I have so far would be how loud the voice is when you’re setting up the cameras and hub to your home. We had put our kids down for bed and when the voice pierced out of the hub, my husband and I jolted because we weren’t expecting to hear anyone speak. I’m not aware of anything that stated there would be an extremely loud voice emitting from anywhere. It would be nice to be able to control her voice or have them adjust her voice to a lower level on their future models. If you’re hard of hearing, no worries you will hear her crystal clear. Once setup is complete you won’t hear her again. It took me around 8 mins to get the hub and both cameras hooked up, and around 3-5 mins prior to that, to download and setup an account on the app. You have to connect the hub through Ethernet connection. Make sure you’re pressing the right buttons for the model that you have, so that there’s no delay or syncing error. Once the hub is connected, the cameras are super easy and straightforward to sync and link to your network through the hub with the touch of one button located on the camera head. Once we were fully done with the setup stage, we added the hub to the WiFi mode and removed it from the Ethernet so we can place it elsewhere and in a less visible area in the house. It will tell you how strong or weak the WiFi signals are in your home for each camera on the app depending on how far they are away from the hub. So you can move the hub to better suite both cameras if possible. If you want the best connection you can keep them on Ethernet, but we have been getting great results on WiFi. The reaction time is superb. No delay at all between it picking up an action and notifying your phone whether on WiFi or Ethernet. I tested both ways. The moment it identifies a face or body shape it notifies my phone. It will save the face right under the footage. If I moved it from left (area with light) to right (area with limited to no light) the speed at which it switched between night camera and regular is lighting speed. It quickly recognizes a person or you can set it to recognize movements in objects and people. You are able to set zones as well. I love that you can even set multiple zones per camera. Also, you can adjust how sensitive you want each camera to be individually. You can actually do a lot for each. So many great options for these cameras, that are great in aiding you to protect your home and family. We haven’t had an opportunity to mount them in place yet, because we have been busy remodeling other areas of our home, but we have them placed in the areas that will their permanent homes. So we can see exactly how it will look just at a slightly lower angle at the moment. I have messed around with it on the magnet it uses, and boy it’s very strong. We will be going with the magnet feature bc it would be simpler for us to remove if we ever need to check on the camera, and/or charge in the future. You can also use the screw mount if you’re worried about folks taking them or if you can’t place it high enough to keep it out of reach of thieves or the mischievous. There is a deafening alarm that will sound if anyone tried to remove the cameras, so make sure that the option is disabled before placing your cameras or if you’re placing them inside your home because I guarantee you will forget it’s on and when you go to remove it, ohhh boy. The option is unchecked initially through the app, so no worries. The quality of video is AMAZING!! And we don’t have to pay to review or store our footage. How amazing is that. We have two other cameras in our home, that initially were good. I mean they still are, but we had them before they were bought out by a huge conglomerate. The reaction time has never been, as good as, what these are and I don’t have to pay a certain price per camera and monitoring fees on top of that, just to save my footage in the cloud wherever that is. I hope they keep this “free” business model because we would like to replace the others with these eventually. Oh yes, so I added the cameras to my Google Home Hub, so if I ever need to view them by talking to my “assistant” I could. Just be aware that in the Google Home app it states that “I’m unable to stream it through the app and instead can only view through a smart display or chrome cast”. So I can’t click on the camera through Googles app to view like you can with their cameras. But honestly, no ones really ever in their app to view the cameras. You will always or most likely always use the products native app or stream through any smart screens or tv’s in your home so that isn’t a concern. So far, so good. There’s nothing else I can think of, as far as, some constructive criticism or anything that needs improvement at the moment except for the one thing I listed earlier. It’s all around a great security camera system to have in or outside of your home. Footage is clear, you can set how much or when you want your camera to record, what type of things you want it to record, etc. Can’t comment on battery life for obvious reasons listed on the box itself, as it’s supposed to last a full year, but that would only be the case if no one ever or barely triggered it and you didn’t look at live footage through the app. I can’t wait to add more of these to our ecosystem and we are looking to buy some of their door and window alarms as well, to replace what we currently have. That’s how good these are, that they have us looking at adding additional things. Hopefully, they are as good as their cameras are. Would definitely recommend going with these.

The Eufy Security System has exceeded my expectations. It was very easy to sync the cameras and add the door sensors. It was just as easy to install due to the wireless system and the wi-fi range available. The camera system is loaded with features, too many too list but I will touch on the ones that impressed me. The battery life is amazing, it has been up 2 weeks and the battery still shows full charge even after numerous streaming and recording incidents. The accuracy of the motion sensor is amazing, no human motion goes un-recorded. The facial recognition is glitchy but I am hoping it improves with firmware/software upgrades. The quality of the video is good, it's not 4k quality but it is clear enough to give you a sense of security when monitoring the perimeter of your home. The built in mic and speaker work amazing, very loud and clear and the mic picks up the faintest sound. The easy install makes this an easy option, the fact that you do not have to charge these cameras every few weeks makes this very convenient. The biggest plus is the app, it has every control available over the cameras at your fingertips and presents it in a way that makes it easy to navigate your cameras and options available. The app makes these very good cameras great when you incorporate the control over the security settings, activity areas and notifications. A GREAT SYSTEM!!

Worst security system to have since you are not able to playback any surveillance. Only thing you are able to playback, are things capture with the motion sensor. I’m upset because I’m stuck with 4 cameras that are useless. I had an incident at home, and I couldn’t capture details since the motion wasn’t activated.

Thank you so much for writing. We're sorry that this item is not able to meet your needs! This item is designed mostly for recording and pushing when motion is detected. You can view the video clips on the app. Very sorry to hear about the incident. You can amend the settings on the app to capture more events. Currently, there are two types of detection: All motion mode and Human only mode. 1. In "Human Only" mode, if the continuous human movement is not detected in the camera view after it is triggered, the camera will not save the video. For safety reasons, it will switch from "human only" detection to "all actions" at night. 2. In “All motions” mode, if a movement is detected in the camera view, the camera will save the video. Please set the detection mode to “All motions” and increase the sensitivity to see if it helps. Also, you can set up "Activity Zone" on the app to monitor certain areas. If you have any questions, please reach out to us via [email protected] or call us at +1 (800) 988 7973. We are more than happy to assist you further. We offer a 12-month warranty for this product, plus lifetime technical support. Our standard for responding to email quests is less than 24 hours, and we look forward to hearing from you! eufy

Worked great for a little over a year and then the home base went on the fritz and it constantly keeps resetting itself. It started all of a sudden and all saved motion clips were erased without any intervention from me. Pretty lame for a so called security system.

The eufyCam 2 is very much like my Arlo Pro 2 system, only better. There are no subscription fees for features that should come standard. The base can connect to the internet via WiFi. The software is also very similar to Arlo, with one exception, it doesn't kill your phones battery. There is a minor issue with the Cam 2, and that is it currently does not have geofencing. However, I was able to get in touch with people in charge of beta testing, and I now have a beta version of the security app that enables geofencing. So far it is working great. They said they plan to implement it in the future. Hopefully sooner rather than later. Things I like: 1.) Ease of setup. 2.) Camera video quality 3.) No subscriptions for features that I consider standard. (No more false alarms!) 4.) Base can be connected via WiFi 5.) 365 day battery life. (Time will tell) 6.) Wireless cameras you can place anywhere withing range of the base. Things I don't like: 1.) Base has a small WiFi range for the cameras. 2.) Currently no geofencing.

Wow-so easy to install and monitor! We installed these at our daughters house since she lives alone. Installation is made easy through the Eufy security App which gives you audio instructions throughout the process. We had both camera installed within 20 minutes! The audio option is nice so you can talk through the app/camera when someone is at the front door, etc. So many cool features but really like that the App notifies you when motion is detected at the cameras allowing you to see who/what is in sight. The whole system is high quality and user friendly! The only downside is that they recommend you charge the cameras for 8 hours before installing but getting a 365 day charge is worth it......no wiring required which makes this system easy for everyone to install!

The resolution in these cams is way better than the wired cam I have. Set up was quick and easy with the QR code in the base and cams and guided instructions. For once, the phone app is really useful and can adjust many settings of the cams, I could not find the time adjustment menu but it adjusted automatically to the phone's clock for time stamp. The build quality seems excellent for outdoors. No negatives to speak of so far, though I can't speak for reliability since I've had them for a week. The speak in both the base and cameras is really loud which is good. The magnetic mounts are strong but just incase, screwed in mounts come with the cams also. I definitely recommend this nice set though I like 4 cams instead of 2.

I was excited to receive and test this Eufy product. Having owned several different home security products, I'm pretty well versed on the workings, comparisons and operations of home security systems (systems shall go unnamed). Let me start off by saying that quite honestly, I never hear of Eufy, so I wanted to know exactly who this company was. Eufy is part of a Chinese electronics brand owned by Anker Innovations who hail from Shenzhen China. They market quite a few electronics in the US, which was new to me. Set up of this product was a breeze. Most time will be spent deciding where to place your cameras and if you permanently want to anchor to your walls or decide whether or not you wish to use the magnetic mounting option. The best thing about the mounting process, is if that your cameras do not need any wires as they have an internal battery, with a very long battery life. You will need to download the application, which went smoothly with my IPhone XS, and 6S. There were no surprises and I found the application to be responsive but slightly buggy. I encountered some issues when viewing a live feed as the feed was black and while. I had the proper settings i.e. (auto night vision off) but the feed was in black and white. I had to enable and then disable this setting to once again view the feed in color. The product is marketed with a Quick Start Guide which is well written, illustrated with pictures and easily understood. Lacking is a section that details product usage. Not one word. I find it disturbing, that a complete user manual in not included with this product. One can certainly Google the information, or hunt for a video on the internet, but to me that's not what its all about. When it comes to video capture and single picture taking I had absolutely no issues with clarity. I tested this product under normal living room lights, and video and still photos were of great quality. One could not ask for anything more. I'm particularly interested in are false alarms and backlighting issues, as I have encountered in the past with other systems. For consumers that are unfamiliar with backlighting problems let me further explain. Have you ever photographed someone with a beautiful sunset in the background, only to find that your subject comes out too dark? Most of you probably have encountered this and were disappointed when you checked your photographs at a later time. The problem with some home security camera systems manifest when your subject is backlit and you cant see the persons face on the video clip because it is underexposed. If its underexposed, then your video is worthless. I am very happy to say that the Eufy system does Not have his problem. Video and photo quality were excellent even when the subject was backlit. Lastly, I did not experience any false alarms with the system to date. So far so good. No worries here! A word on the secure mounting or lack thereof. As mentioned earlier, cameras can be mounted in one of two manners. One mounting method is by means of a magnet. Simple but please note that camera is not secure. A simple pull of the camera by a crook and its gone. The second mounting method is slightly different, which entails drilling two holes into a secure base such as metal or concrete and then the camera is screwed onto its bracket. This mounting method is also flawed, in the sense that the cameras can be unscrewed by hand (no tools needed to steal). So a word to the wise, is to mount your cameras above the reach of crooks and or high enough to prevent someone from taking a stick and knocking them off their mounts. "PROS" Instant notifications via app. 16 GB storage card, with high resolution, no monthly storage fees. Motion activated cameras, with less false alarms due to facial recognition technology, 25 feet of night time vision, as well as 140 degree wide angle lens. 365 day battery life (I did not verify this, as this is a manufacturer claim) Weatherproof for both inside and outside use Two way communication via speaker and microphone. Mounting hardware is included. Live streaming via phone NO MONITORING FEES! CONS No enclosed user manual. Battery life "percentage" indicator is only viewable when battery is in the charging mode. No secure locking mechanism to ensure there is no theft of your mounted cameras. You may be wondering if this system is right for you and if I have it on my recommended list? Yes to both. Eufy seems to be a quality product, back by a one year warranty. Video and photos are quality, and best of all the systems is wireless. Forget about running hundreds of fee of wiring. Eufy is definitely a winner.
