I have been using Eufy security cameras for several years, including a 2K video doorbell, eufyCam 2 Pro 2K security cameras, eufyCam 3 - 4K Security cameras and eufyCam S3 Pro 4K cameras. Good performance and the advantage of not being required to have a subscription cloud storage account is important to me. The eufyCam S4 camera attracted me because of the PTZ auto-tracking features. Another important consideration is that the S4 easily integrates with my current Eufy ecosystem. My past experience with Eufy cameras has typically been good, although I have experienced some hardware and some software/firmware issues. The eufyCam S4 Solar Security Camera (Model T81721W1) includes the IP-65 rated solar charged 4K camera and a 7”x7” solar panel, which can be remotely mounted using the included USB extension cable if the camera is mounted in a location with insufficient sunlight to maintain the battery charge. My existing S3 Pro cameras with their superior IP-67 rating have survived severe tropical weather. Hopefully the IP-65 rated S4 proves adequate in similar storms. The eufyCam S4 camera can store 32GB of videos internally or up to 256GB with the addition of a microSD card, but it is better to use an S380 HomeBase 3 hub which adds additional AI functionality and very importantly stores the videos inside your home rather than in the camera body which could potentially be removed or destroyed along with the stored video files. The package includes all the necessary camera and solar panel mounting items, including mounting brackets and the screws and plastic plugs. A USB-A to USB-C cable for charging the camera is also included. The eufyCam S4 combines a wide-angle fixed view bullet camera with a pan-tilt-zoom turret. The S4 has a fixed position 4K f/1.6 aperture bullet camera with a 130° field of view and two 2K turret mounted pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) lenses including a 121° FOV wide-angle and 46° FOV telephoto lens with 8x hybrid zoom. Dual technology motion detection includes both radar (up to 40’) and PIR (Passive Infrared, up to 30’). A static wide-angle image is produced by the bullet camera simultaneously with the PTZ turret cameras actively tracking and zooming in on the moving person, animal or vehicle that triggered the recording event. The AI tracking does a good job of framing the subject and keeping it centered while following. Tracking generally performs well but has been somewhat inconsistent. Some visitors are tracked to my front door after passing the camera position, while others do not get followed the full distance. I find that the tracking frequently (but intermittently) tends to lose someone who passes very close to the camera. The motion detection and tracking are very good at acquiring the subject and continuously tracking under most circumstances. There is manual control of pan/tilt during livestreaming, as well as four user-defined preset target locations. The EufyCam S4 has color night video capability in well illuminated locations and also includes white LED “spotlights” which can be selected for color night videos at the expense of additional power consumption and calling attention to the camera. (If you intentionally want to call attention to the camera, there are red and blue flashing LEDs and a built-in siren which can be optionally activated upon motion detection). Unfortunately, the MaxColor Vision feature which significantly elevates the nighttime performance of my eufyCam S3 Pro cameras is not included in the eufyCam S4. MaxColor Vision produces video images which appear as bright as if they were shot during daylight! The lack of MaxColor Vision is a disappointment, since the difference is truly “night and day”! The S4 also has LED IR emitters (3 on the fixed camera & 4 on the PTZ) for night videos in monochrome, infrared mode. One of the appealing attributes which differentiates many Eufy camera models from other brands is that videos can be stored locally on the Eufy HomeBase 3 hub which is equipped with 16GB of built-in eMMC flash memory. No cloud storage account is required with a recurring fee. 16GB of storage will hold many videos before older files will be overwritten by new videos. To store lots of videos for extended periods of time, the HomeBase 3 has a hard-disk slot which will accept any 2.5” hard disk drive (HDD) or solid-state drive (SSD) up to 16TB. Setup of the EufyCam S4 Solar Security Camera System is very simple and straightforward. Initial setup and all device configuration and management functions are accomplished with the Eufy Security smartphone app (Android or iOS). The Eufy Security smartphone app and HomeBase 3 provide step-by-step setup instructions, including audio guidance. The EufyCam S4 features and capabilities are extensive and robust. Well implemented Artificial Intelligence (AI) software with Eufy “Bionic Mind” AI learning, accurately and effectively differentiates humans, animals/pets and vehicles, and supports creation of a Facial Recognition database. Eufy has augmented the motion detection mechanism of the S4 camera by adding radar detection to the passive infrared (PIR) technology. The use of dual-technology motion detection helps reduce false activations for triggers like windblown foliage. Camera features include user-defined motion detection zones, privacy zones (motion exclusion) and detection sensitivity and range settings. I am finding that activity beyond the limits of my carefully defined detection zone is still triggering events. However, if the detection zone is contracted too much, it results in missing events that should have been triggers. Among the important features and options which can be configured are those of motion detection boundaries and sensitivity, video quality, power management, notification options and much more. I like the “Automation” option to activate recording from multiple security cameras when motion is detected on one. Other nice features which are available when an S380 Homebase is used, are “24/7 Smart Snapshots” which creates a quasi-time-lapse record, and a “Cross Camera Tracking” AI feature which stitches together videos from multiple cameras for the same event. In motion activated video mode, there is a latency interval while the camera awakens for video recording, as well as for linked cameras to start recording after the triggered camera. There is also a variable, sometimes lengthy delay for the transmission of the smartphone alerts. Resultantly, some recordings begin too late to capture the initial several seconds of the triggering event, and the phone notification is sometimes delayed even further. The eufyCam S4 camera has a removable 10,000 mAh Li-Ion battery. If options such as “Optimal Surveillance” mode, which allows for clip length up to 60 seconds is used, battery drain is increased. There is also a “Customize Recording” selection for even greater flexibility, but with additional power consumption. The SolarPlus 2.0 technology is claimed to improve solar efficiency to where one hour per day of adequate sun exposure will maintain a full charge, however my experience with the eufyCam S3 Pro cameras which also have SolarPlus 2.0 has not aligned with that claim. However, their integral solar panels are a fraction of the size and power output of the large 7”x7” eufyCam S4 solar panel. So far, the S4 solar panel, despite many camera activations, albeit with plentiful direct sun exposure, is impressively maintaining a nearly or completely full charge on the battery, which in addition to the video camera power demand is also powering PTZ DC servo motors. Live streaming is supported, as well as bidirectional audio via the cameras built-in speaker and microphone. However, it experiences latency, and effective real-time communication can be difficult. Live camera feed also encounters a delay. Eufy cameras communicate with the Homebase on a private 2.4 GHz network, and the Homebase 3 connects to only 2.4 GHz channels of your Wi-Fi network. 5 GHz Wi-Fi is not supported as evidently range is prioritized over bandwidth. Eufy represents utilizing 256 bit AES encryption for both video transmission and storage on the HomeBase 3. However, decryption is apparently a cloud server-based operation along with the thumbnail image creation for activity alert notifications, thus unencrypted data apparently travels on the Internet. The eufyCam S4 has crisp, clear high-resolution 4K video from the fixed camera and the 2K video from the PTZ camera is also clear. This allows enlargement/zooming-in (8x digital zoom via screen pinch), but with loss of detail. Infrared video during hours of darkness is sharp, and the LED IR emitters appear to have good illumination range. The camera also has four white LED “spotlights”, the use of which is selectable in the app. These LEDs allow full-color night videos. The LED lights have good reach. The camera specifications and features are impressive, and integration with the HomeBase 3 and configuration and utilization with the Eufy smartphone app are all very good. I like the eufyCam S4 Camera. EufyCam S4 with Homebase 3 supports integration with other Eufy devices as well as Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Homekit (limited to 1080p video by Apple). Continuous video recording (rather than motion activated) is supported when the camera is connected full-time to an external power source. A large disk drive will be essential in the HomeBase 3 when serving as an NVR around the clock. Overall, the eufyCam S4 performs very nicely and is an excellent addition to my current eufyCams! The combination of PTZ active tracking of moving subjects along with the wide-angle perspective of the fixed position bullet camera is terrific! This combination bullet camera / PTZ camera provides a lot of surveillance coverage with just one device. It would be great to have another S4 on the rear of my house as well, for better coverage.

eufyCam S4 Triple Lens it's kind of become one of those gadgets I forget even exists in a good way. It's just sitting there, and it's just doing its business, and then only pops into my life when something needs to be informed or i wish to see the live feed.Right out of the box, the camera is sturdy and well made not flimsy or cheap. The triple lens set up looks a bit futuristic compared to your normal one lens cameras, but it's not weird or ugly. The solar panel that comes with this is nicely integrated as well, which doesn't appear to look like you bolted a random science project to your walls. Setup is very straightforward, Download eufy Security app.  Scan the QR code on the camera.  Connect it to Wi-Fi.  Mount it where you want it. The only "hard" part was where to put it so the solar panel can get good sun, and the camera has a view. Once I chose a location for it, it was a matter of installing it which just included a couple screws and small angle fixes. Power and solar performance One of the primary factors driving my choice of this camera were the combo wireless plus solar. I really didn't want to be running cables around walls or remembered to wriggle the camera down to the recharge it every few months. At least to date the solar panel has done exactly what it's supposed to do. The battery essentially remains full despite having a fair amount of motion. On sunny days, I can actually literally watch the battery percentage go up in the app. On cloudy or rainy days it might dip a little but the battery is big enough it's never come close to dying. If you live somewhere super dark and gloomy for half the year it may be different with you, but under more normal conditions it's pretty much Set it and Forget it. Video Quality and Triple lens coverage The triple lens set-up is the main achievement here. Rather than using one lens that attempts to do everything, the S4 makes use of multiple lenses to cover a greater area to keep things sharp. You get all this wide field of view -almost a 360 degree field of view due to the way you use that.  Way fewer blind spots. I have this one camera that I can see my driveway, front walk, part of my yard, and from this one camera.  It can change lenses/focal lengths to keep people and cars clear when they walk about. Daytime video looks great sharp, clear and normal looking colors. Zooming in on a person or a license plate actually is useful, At night, it still holds up well especially if you've got some ambient light, like a porch or street light. It's miles better than these cheap cameras where everything becomes just a blob of grey color. 360deg view and auto-tracking The combo of a near 360 degree coverage AND auto-tracking though, is where the smartness instead of the gimmick is found. When a person walks on the property, the camera locks on his or her person and moves completely around them.  Right so, if a car pulls into the driveway, it's then tracking it and it ends up focused right where the driver gets out which is where you want to be for video.  In the app, you can swipe around the live view in the same way as a PTZ camera if you are inclined to manually look around, but most of the time the auto-tracking does it. It's not perfect - if there are several people, or cars for that matter, appearing at the center simultaneously, it's going to choose one to follow and may miss the others but for one person, or vehicle, it's a pretty good job. You are also able to dial up the sensitivity or dial it down to make sure that the surveillance device is not freaked out every time a tree branch moves. Motion detection and alerts Motion detection is one of those things which you don't really appreciate until you live with the camera for a few days. The S4 does a nice job here. It can distinguish between people and random motion and it often recognizes vehicles as well.  You can set up activity zones, and so it's not the car that drives by on the street every second bugging you.  Sensitivity is adjustable, which is helpful in reducing false alarms due to shadows, bugs or plants. Person detection has worked for me. I get a ping when somebody walks up to the door, walks up through the driveway, but I'm not getting that every time there's a bird flying past. Notifications are pretty quick usually within a couple of seconds so if someone rings the doorbell I can tap the notification and I will still see them there live. Experience in the App and Local storage The eufy Security application is in a good place right now. It's clean and easy to navigate and the important stuff is not buried under a million menus. Timeline view: Scroll through your day and tap on any one of the events so that you can watch it immediately.  Filters: Quickly change "person", "vehicle" or "all motion" to learn more about what it is that you are interested in.  Live view controls - controls to pan, tilt and zoom as well as turn auto-tracking on and off at any time.  Notifications: Change tones to suit your preferences, eliminate noise during quiet hours as well as choose which nots you really want. One of the thing i like is local storage and no forced subscription. Eufy allows you to store clips locally (either built-in storage or hub) instead of forcing you into a monthly cloud storage just to have access to your own footage. If your fed up with all your devices asking for a subscription this is a breath of fresh air. Privacy and security With any security camera there is always that tipping point between security and privacy. Eufy is quite heavy handed when it comes to local storage and encryption, so it does not feel like you are just streaming your life into some random cloud forever. If privacy is a big issue, you'll still want to give the rules a read, but day to day, it does feel more private than the cloud-only brands. What I'm really into: Super wide covering with triple-lens and near 360 degree view.  Auto-tracking which is useful, not just for bragging points on the box  Solar power, so you almost have never to think about charging.  Good quality of the video in day and night.  Local storage, no needs for subscription  Smart motion detection and person vehicle recognition and activity zones.  Clean up app with fast and reliable notifications. What could be better: You do require a sensible amount of sunlight if you are hoping for the battery to both remain fully topped up (especially in busy areas).  Auto-tracking may get lost on a subject with much going on.  The camera is larger than the basic single lens ones  so you do have to be a little strategic if you want it to keep a low profile. The eufyCam S4 Triple Lens Wireless Solar Security Camera is what you can feel like a legit upgrade from basic cams. You get smarter coverage, better tracking, good video and quantified close to no hassle with power or subscriptions. It's not the cheapest thing out there and it's not perfect but it hits a really nice sweet spot between performance, convenience and long term cost. If you are looking for a camera that covers a wide area, follows movement intelligently, and for the most part just minding its own business in the background, the S4 is an easy one to recommend. After a week or two, it is no longer as if it is a gadget, but part of the house and that is exactly what you want from a security camera.

I have been in the Eufy Ecosystem for several years now for my outdoor cameras, and the strengths of why I bought my original cameras, and why I continue to use them, are very present in this new S4 camera. Namely, three major things: wireless self-charging via solar, no subscription fee for local storage, and excellent video quality. In the case of solar charging, if you have used a previous generation of eufy solar camera, then you know what this is. The camera comes with a separate solar panel which you connect to the camera via usb-c, but can either attach directly to the camera, or you can mount separately in a different location for better light collection. This means you can have the camera under an overhang (like I do), but have the solar collection around the corner facing the sun during peak hours for charging. I have only been using this new S4 camera for around a week, and it has been overcast all of these days in winter, so it is tough to judge its charging capabilities, but so far I have only been sitting around 95% charge, which is fantastic for being out in the cold 24/7. It does have an external removable battery, which you can take off and charge separately, so you also don’t need to remove the whole camera to charge it if you want to charge it manually. You always have the option to bring it in easily with the detachable mount and charge it yourself if you wish. For the no subscription fee, this to me is the big one. I have a Eufy Homebase 3 which I had gotten previously, and that acts as the central storage and connection unit for all of my cameras. What this means is that all of the video processing and storage stays local, with no cloud transfer or subscription for storage fees. I can clean out storage when I want for more space, expand it if I need, or if I really want, I can certainly subscribe for cloud storage to back-up my devices. The key thing here though is that cloud storage subscription is optional, not required, and the Eufy app does a great job of not pushing it on you. That is, in my opinion, how you get customers into your ecosystem and buying more products. The app itself is also very simple to use, but works great for event notifications, real-time monitoring, using the speakers on the camera, adjusting night vision settings, surveillance settings, motion detection, object and face recognition, and more. With the S4. you can also use the app to set presets for the 360 degree camera view, so if you want to have different states for the camera position, you can, while also allowing you to manually pan & tilt. It does a great job with object tracking too, identifying people and moving with them. What makes this really nice though is that third lens, which is fixed and operates like something of an ultra-wide lens. So you can have the fixed lens facing one direction, covering the field of view, while the other lens faces another way to give you even wider coverage. If either lens detects movement or a person, it will swivel the camera to face them and then track their movements to ensure it keeps them in-frame. This works equally well at night and during the day. The camera has a spotlight setting or an infrared setting, which is the one I preferred as I found the motion resolution to be better overall, although you can turn off both if you already have enough light in the space at night. The camera itself captures in 4K, although I do find that result to look pretty compressed when I view recordings. It is still far and above most wireless cameras I have used, so I can’t really complain, but I do wish the bitrate for the video stream was a bit higher for more detail. Thankfully the zoom works well and does allow you to really focus in on details as needed. Even after recording, zooming in on the recording results in really good video capture on the whole, with high detail even from the wide angle fixed lens. The only area where I have a slight complaint is in some false positives in motion detection, but these are by no means deal breakers. I have found that heavy winds/moving foliage will trip it as well as heavy snow fall. At times it will say it detected a person when it is just something like a leaf, and it isn’t great at picking up on correct faces if you label people (although to be fair its also not always easy to tell in winter when people are bulked up). Honestly though, to me these are very minor complaints because the whole product just feels so complete. You get a 360 degree camera which can look in more than one place at once, has great night vision, can charge itself with solar, can provide local storage, is wireless, has a nice app, and doesn’t require an additional subscription to get the value out of. If someone asked me to recommend just one security camera to them, it would be this one, because it really is a jack of all trades, and in this case, is a master of many of them in my testing. I really love it so far, and is the best wireless security camera I have ever used.

The EufyCam S4 Triple Lens delivers fantastic 4K quality images, but provides us with incredible motion/zoom technology (AI), a Bullet and PTZ camera, and solar technology. Pros: - Easy Setup - Camera Settings - Video Quality Cons: - Battery drains quickly Out of the box, the EufyCam S4 was easy to pair to the Home Base system. With several steps that inclue interactive photos and video (voice guidance), the camera was set up. Placing the camera outside, also, was easy. In the box, there are templates that lineup perfectly with the attachment piece that connects to the camera (for you to drill pilot holes). Once drilled, installing and screwing the camera into the attachment were simple enough. More so, the included solar panel was easy to mount, point, and position towards the sun for continous charging (with some issues, but more below). Next, there are an array of camera settings including video recording settings, imagine quality, "safe zones," and AI drtection zooming. I opted to choose the highest setting for "performance" and the 4K video is stunning; video is vibrant, crystal clear imaging, and when zoomed in video does not distort. Also, I opted for the nighttime 4K infrared video (which I might add is clear, too). If you choose the "spotlight" function, video is not as clear (as I found). Additionally, I changed the settings and added a "safe zone" to where I want the EufyCam S4 to record (this is recommended, because the camera tracked a lot of vehicles which drained my battery). When setting up safe zones, make sure to set up the area(s) you want to record. Lastly, through the app and by moving the camera, you may set your position where you want to start recording prior to enabling AI track and zoom (more on that in a moment). Overall, the top and bottom camera lenses provide excellent video quality, and video-length (you may update your camera to record up to 60-seconds, which is what I did due to our holiday display). One feature that stands out the most is the AI track and zoom motion technology. When enabled, the bottom camera immediately moves into action, recordjng, tracking, and zooming in on the suspected person, vehicle (if in the field-of-view), or sometimes animals (if you want the camera to track this, which is also a setting). Incredibly, the S4 still provides excellent video quality while tracking and zooming on people or objects. However, there is a catch to enabling all of these desired features, and that is the battery life. The battery life is not an issue if you disable the AI tracking and zoom functions, as well as video quality (even at 2K or 1080p video, battery is fine). However, the bread and butter of the S4 is the technology, and when the AI detection is enabled, the battery simply drains quickly (especially in high-traffic areas). Unfortunately, I had to remove the camera, twice, from my tree to charge it in the house after a few heavy nights of foot traffic outside our home. Again, without these features enabled, the camera is just any other ordinary security camera; keep that in mind. Overall, the EufyCam S4 delivers fantastic 4K video quality and images. Sound and video history reviewing is exceptional; set up is easy out of the box. However, the PTZ camera with AI motion tracking technology will literally drain the camera's batteries (depending on your settings), making the most attractive feature of the S4 useless when the battery dies.

A few years ago, I got a professional security camera system installed. This system only allowed me to review recorded footage when I was in front of the TV, which displayed DVR camera recordings. And then there came the issue that I had never thought about before, which was, what happens when there’s no power to record? This dilemma arose when the city had to cut power to my street for several hours over a two-week period. I have a positive history with the Eufy brand, but I hadn’t seen anything from them that could be a potential replacement for my wired cameras. Then I discovered the EufyCam S4. Set-Up: Installing the S4 Cam is pretty simple. Make sure you charge the camera before installing it. Then, be sure you know where you want to place the camera. Yes, you can uninstall the mount and move it elsewhere if you desire, but I can’t imagine anyone wanting to do that several times. Also, you’re going to need to download the Eufy app and create an account if you don’t have one already. Syncing the camera to the app is really fast and easy. You can choose to mount the solar charging panel away from the camera, or you can mount the panel on top of it. I chose to mount it to the top due to where I installed it. My camera battery reached full charge within a couple of hours, and then it only took me about 15 or 20 minutes to have it all up and running. Performance: The picture quality was excellent, which I typically expect from Eufy. The upper stationary lenses are 4K while the lower, rotating/swivel camera lenses are 2K. The camera movement is responsive when you’re interacting with them via the app. There are a lot of features to play around with when it comes to customization. There’s AI tracking, key area monitoring, alarms, spot light, among a list of others. And let me warn you about the alarm… It’s LOUD. I tested the 30-second sequence, and I turned it off because I didn’t want to falsely attract attention. I was also impressed with the Zoom feature(s). With other cameras, when I had zoomed in, the quality suffered, and it would become grainy. On this camera, I used the 8x zoom, and it was still clear. And finally, the last praise I have to offer this Eufy camera is that it’s solar-powered! I don’t have to worry about removing a battery to charge every two months, I do not have to be concerned about running a power cord to this camera, and I don’t have to worry if and when the power goes out because this camera will continue recording. Safety Matters: If you’ve been on the fence about getting a security camera to protect your property or to monitor the happenings in your backyard, then I really recommend this S4 Cam. It’s easy to install and easy to operate. And best of all, it's all accessible in the palm of your hand.

I've spent the last 8 years trying different smart security cameras only to find myself disappointed every time I bought into a new ecosystem. I took a chance on the eufy S4 Triple lens and I'll never look back. I've tried 4 other brands and not one came close to value the S4 brings to the table. After testing this eufyCam for a week - I immediately ordered the eufy SoloCam S340, video doorbell E340, Home Base, and the Smart Display E10. PROs: 1) Triple Lens - The triple lens is an absolute game changer. Because of my home's layout, I have always needed 2 cameras for my driveway/side yard to cover most of what I wanted secured - the S4 replaced both. Not only did it replace both existing cameras, but I would have needed a 3rd camera to match what the eufyCam S4 can cover. The S4 allows you to point the stationary camera in one direction and set the two cameras below in the opposite direction. The moveable cameras kick into action as soon as motion is detected and they it will return to its pre-set position once its all clear. Brilliant. 2) Motion Detection - Motion detection is the best I've used and it's free! The other system I had just switched to recently not only charged monthly but if you wanted any form of AI motion tracking you had to cough up for a more expensive plan. eufy is FREE FREE FREE. 3) NO SUBSCRIPTION - I'm kicking myself for all the money I wasted on other camera system subscriptions. eufy is doing it right and earned my future business. YOU are in control of YOUR video - you can choose to use the camera's internal storage or upgrade to their home base. Either way, your video is stored locally and reviewing footage in the app is just as fast as any cloud service I've ever used. After spending the last week with this camera and its ecosystem... eufy is a no brainer. You are throwing your money away if you buy from any other national brand. 4) App - The app has every feature you could possibly need or want. You can customize all of your motion settings, take manual control of moveable cameras, and even track your power usage to help you make adjustments as needed. I didn't find any issues with the app... not one. CON's ZERO. I could not find a single issue with the S4. It's the first battery/solar security camera I've ever used and had zero complaints or issues. It lives up to every claim - yes, It really is THAT good. The Specs: Solar powered ✓ 4K video recording ✓ Local storage ✓ AI motion detection (free) ✓ Up to 8x zoom ✓ Built-in 32GB storage (up to 256GB) ✓ If you want max coverage, less cameras plastered around your house, and control over your own video - the S4 Triple Lens is as good as it gets. Take it from the guy who spent the last 8 years and thousands of dollars on subscriptions and sub-par cameras.

I’ve used several different brands of cameras over the last 10-15 years and have really come to love the Eufy cameras. While all the other subscriptions have gone through the roof in price, Eufy remains totally subscription-free, and their cameras have gotten progressively better and more reliable over the years. This S4 camera is a great example of that, and I’ve been super happy with it so far. Setup was very easy. After I charged it up, I connected it to my Wi-Fi network. I have a Homebase, but I opted to connect it that way since it’s on a detached garage that has Wi-Fi coverage but is distant from where I have the Homebase installed for other cameras. It was on the network and capturing video within a few minutes. I opted to do the firmware update on it while I was mounting it on my garage. It was done before I had it mounted. My garage faces south, so I was able to mount the solar panel on the same bracket which kept things simple. But I really love the option of being able to mount the solar panel separately and then power the camera with an extension cable (included). I have a lot of cameras with solar built into them, and it really limits where I can use them effectively. This camera is a lot more flexible. The mounting bracket uses two fairly small screws either horizontally into a wall or fascia, or vertically under the soffit or a similar location. The camera and solar panel together create a somewhat bulky object to mount with two small screws, but it seems very solid now that I have it installed. Once it was installed, I adjusted a few settings in the app to make it work better for my location. I increased the detection range to the maximum (12m) and turned on vehicle and pet detection (human was on by default). I also set the pan-tilt settings to “AI tracking.” That seems to work very well, so I haven’t even experimented with the other option called “Bullet-to-PTZ Tracking.” I’ll attach some screenshots showing how the bullet cam zoomed in and tracked both me and cats at various times. I’m really pleased with how well this camera has worked for the last week. I haven’t had any false triggers, and as far as I can tell, it hasn’t missed recording any activities either. To cover the same large area that I am with this camera, I think I’d need to use 3 fixed cameras. So, while it may seem a little pricey, I think it’s pretty reasonable given the wide area of coverage it provides. I highly recommend this camera, and Eufy cameras in general. Not having to pay yet another subscription is so nice these days!

Great security cam system. It came with everything needed to mount it and the instructions were clear. They include the mounting system and also a solar panel to keep the cam charged. It was easy to setup the cam on my Wi-Fi network and the greatest thing about it, is that it does not require any subscriptions for storage, the camera has its own storage, I love this as many other brands keep recordings behind subscriptions pay walls. They have a phone app and it is really well done. Once I added the cam to my network it got it installed (if living on the northern hemisphere, it is always recommended to try mount your solar panels facing true south at an angle for the best solar light reception). Once I mounted it, it keeps the camera charged, specially on sunny days (which are not many due being winter now) and I can see the battery levels going up. On a cloudy day, yes it goes down and doesn't charge it as good, but as long as there is a sunny day afterwards it will go back up. Being bigger than other single cams, it can draw attention, so apart from planning well were to mount it, solar wise, I also recommend you consider its footprint, maybe put it somewhere high, where no one can reach it. The great thing is that their app offers many customizations, once of them is being able to create activity/privacy zones, that way the camera isn't wasting power recording useless events. I have it setup so it records the area I want. The lens/camera system is great, it has a fix system that catches a wide area and once it detects movement/people it can start following them with the camera that rotates, I love this. The video quality is great and it works great on low light too and has a spotlight too for color night vision. If you are tired of static cams and you want something flexible that can move around and record from many angles, this is the camera system for you, by far its the best one I have had and remember, it records locally and doesn't require subscriptions!

The best Eufy hybrid camera. The combination of the bullet camera and PTZ camera in one unit is brilliant. Every details are captured, the bullet camera can monitor the critical areas of my house and at the same time the PTZ camera tracks down the moments by following them so that every details are captured. The camera has a 5.5 W Ultra large solar power panel, larger than my Eufy S340 which means more power! The camera has the AI core (facial recognition) that identify a family member and a stranger! Amazing!!!

This is hands down my all-time favorite Wi-Fi home security dual camera setup by eufy. I didn't know I bypassed using the battery by running power to it with a USB brick and The included USBC cable for power so I don't have to worry about charging the battery ever. The clarity with this UPS for Wi-Fi security camera is insane The AI tracking works so good it catches everything and then some. I'm blown away by how Good The Three times zoom looks without losing clarity of the subject or vehicle The camera is zooming in on. The subject stays in focus and clear to see. My one and only complaint is that this camera only works on the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi channel, I would think in today's time and age that this would be dual band or possibly a Wi-Fi 7 camera which would help it tremendously seeing it's 2K and 4K resolution, or at least offer a hard wired option to avoid Wi-Fi altogether. Other than that this camera is rock solid, I definitely plan on adding two more for the side of my house and the back of my house. I currently have this one installed over the front of my garage under the eve to capture everything in the front of my home. The microphone picks up sounds and voices with great clarity and with the built-in speaker you can be heard clearly and easily when talking to somebody through the camera speaker. This little setup also has some great built-in LEDs for night as well as a loud siren for intruders and also a flashing blue and red light when you enable the siren. I highly recommend you feed products this is my second one installed at my house with this S4 camera as well as the Eufy dual camera/doorbell camera that I have installed at my front door. I love that these come with a decent amount of built-in storage and the S4 you can upgrade the storage with a microSD card up to 256 GB, which is plenty of storage for events and affordable at the same time without the need for extra monthly fees for cloud storage which I dislike.

I’ve had security cameras around my house for more than 10 years now. I’ve used various brands, but I’ve always stuck with wireless options because even though they can be more reliable, the wires are problematic especially in the house. eufy cameras have been reliable and easy to set up and use. So, adding the eufyCam S4 Triple Lens Wireless Solar Security Camera to our ecosystem was a no-brainer. Installation was easy once I figured out where I wanted to place it. The tricky part was finding a good place that provided the coverage I wanted, but was also getting a good signal to our WiFi network. The camera only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, which can be limiting if you prefer dual-band or faster network options. I found the eufyCam S4 to be especially strong when it comes to video quality and motion tracking. The 4K footage is sharp, and the auto-tracking does a great job following people or vehicles while zooming in for clearer detail. I also like the combination of wide coverage and focused tracking, which helps reduce blind spots. The built-in solar panel keeps the battery topped off outdoors, so there’s very little maintenance, and the lack of any monthly subscription fees is a big plus. Setup feels straightforward, and overall reliability and connection stability stand out as strengths. Overall, this camera does an excellent job delivering clear video, reliable solar power, and smart tracking without ongoing costs, with only minor networking limitations holding it back.

First it was very easy to install with two screws on the mounting bracket to the wall. Then paired it via our Wi-Fi to the HomeBase 3, and setup was very simple. It has a large battery and a large solar panel. It's expected to be self-sufficient when recording only activities, and can optionally be plugged in with an included weatherproof USB-C extension cable. The camera appears on the app as two parts. The fixed camera, which can be adjusted and rotated manually once mounted, also has a motion sensor. This is meant to provide a wide angle. The PTZ camera can be set at a default position and then automatically track persons, pets or vehicles and it would go back to its default position when there is no movement. The illumination LEDs can be set to either white or red and blue. The rotating camera also has two lenses, one at 1x zoom and other at 3x zoom. It will automatically switch, or can also be manually operated within the app. One neat feature is that one can point at the image on the static camera and the PTZ will point and zoom on its own. Once connected to the HomeBase 3 it supports person recognition like other cameras that offload some of the processing to the base station. It's a bit large if used to the more discreet models, this is anything but discreet, and sometimes that's a good deterrent. Installed in Northeast, one of the shortest days of the year and battery remains charged, so a great sign. Very responsive even when away from home.

I already have a fairly extensive Eufy setup which services all four corners of my home as well as the front door. Two doorbell cameras aIso cover the front and rear entrance doors. I installed the S4 to replace a garage/driveway monitor, but that was only a fixed focus cam. I also have two Home Base 380's to control/store/capture video. I also installed optional laptop hard drives in each of the 380's to expand storage capacity. Setup of the S4 is relatively simple, involving scanning the products QR code and attaching it to a Home Base. Thankfully, the solar charging panel is detachable, as my mounting location never receives direct sunlight. A 10-12 foot USB C cable is included, allowing me to mount the panel to the sunny side of the garage. I actually needed a bit more, so I attached a 3 foot "C" weatherproof extension cable. The camera was installed right out of the box with a 50% charge; within 3 days it had built itself up to 100%, and this is December - the shortest days of the year. Speaking of the battery, if you do need to service/charge, it is removable with 1 screw. Within the Eufy app, there are a myriad of controllable functions. These involve setting the vision parameters, hot spots, lighting via infrared or led, battery & power control as well as active AI. I found the interaction between the two cameras (fixed & movable) to be quite excellent. In only 3 days of operation, I was sold on the effectiveness. I reviewed multiple captures, with the AI engaged, there were multiple instances where it would pick up a human or car on the main, the movable camera would then move in on the subject. The speed at which the camera would zoom was most impressive. Initially, I had set the parameters to just reach the end of my driveway, as I didn't want multiple notifications for every vehicle passing in the street. However, I noticed that there was an instance of a vehicle in the street that while in the middle of the street, stopped in front of my driveway, and the AI found that interesting enough that the movable zoomed in on it, and then, when it took off, followed it down the street. Couldn't have done it better myself! You may note that I dropped a star from the rating, and that has nothing to do with the camera. The problem I have is with the controlling software in the Home Base. I've owned Eufy's since they started being sold in this country, and ever since they installed decryption software, I've been dealing with the spinning Eufy logo. Videos sometimes take 20 seconds or longer to "decrypt." Let me just say that I've got two Home Bases, both with hard drives, 1 gig internet, and a wifi mesh system through the home. I've read through Reddit threads where many others report this issue. I've tried remediations and recommendations from users, I've checked that the Homebase is not using the same wife channel as my router or mesh systems, reset the Home Bases, ensured line of sight, etc. When I installed the S4, I recognized that it would place a heavier load on the system than my other cameras, and reset the Home Base, and reset it so that only 2 other cameras were working off that unit. Delays were improved, but still not to the point I find acceptable. I honestly wish that Eufy would give the user a choice to disable encryption if they can't rework the software. C'mon Eufy - you've got 5 star cameras with 1 star software. This is about home protection - I need to know what's happening now; not 30 seconds ago! So that's my summary - this is a great camera with excellent tracking abilities - now it needs the software it deserves.

    Buggy Firmware. Inconsistent Performance.

TLDR: Too buggy for deployment. Inferior to the S3 Pro in every way. It's a fantastic product when it works, the problem is it doesn't work reliably and consistently. PROS 4k Video PTZ with 3x Optical Zoom No Subscription Fees Ties in with Existing Homebase S380 Ecosystem Easily Replaceable Battery Active Deterrent Lights CONS Inconsistent Performance Buggy Firmware Power Cord Rotates with Turret No Color Night Vision INSTALLATION Eufy has made installation and set-up as close to pain-free as possible. Buyers couldn't ask for an easier set-up and installation experience. It is literally charge the battery, use 2 screws to attach the mounting bracket, attach the solar cell if desired and slide the camera on the bracket. It took longer to get out the ladder and grab my cordless drill driver than it did to remove my existing S3 Pro and mount the new S4 Pro. The Eufy software is not only easy to use, it is very easy to add new devices. Tap the + icon, scan the product's QR code and the app walks you through the rest. It is so simple. Not only does the app guide you through the product set-up, it also plays a simple installation video with helpful tips. So efficient. I give Eufy props for their polished app and installation instructions. Users of all skill levels can easily install a Eufy security camera. My main goal with the S4 was to provide additional detection and coverage at the front of my house. Mounted to the corner of the house, I wanted a product that could not only see someone walking toward my front door, but also watch my driveway. I wanted a camera that if it sensed motion to be able to follow that motion and give me a far better picture of what was going on around the house versus my S3 Pro that only provided a fixed position. Since I am already invested in the Eufy ecosystem, the S4 Pro seemed like an outstanding addition to my already installed locks, doorbells, and other S3 Pros. IDENTIFICATION / TRACKING How does the S4 Pro stack up against the S3 Pro, it replaced? Pretty lousy, actually. The S3 Pro has proven to be a superior product in every way. First. The S4 Pro's firmware is not fully baked. My S3 was a rock-solid camera that never failed to miss a vehicle, human, or animal. I can count on one hand the things the S3 Pro missed and didn't report. Not so with the S4 Pro. It is hit or miss. Reviewing footage over the past several days reveals a bunch of missed, easy to see opportunities. By default, I have the S4 Pro pointed toward the street, away from my garage and house. It watches the street and the entrance to my driveway. For example, when I left, the S4 Pro never reported my truck. It gave no report of a vehicle detection. When I came home a few hours later, sure enough, I got a notification of a vehicle detection. Great! Fast forward a few hours and it was just after dark. My family and I left to grab a bite to eat. Again, no notification when we left. Less than an hour later, we came back. Drove down the driveway. The S4 recorded the event, but didn't send a notification. Nor did the AI PTZ tracking follow the truck. As soon as I pulled past the view of the camera, it never moved and followed the activity. Next day was a different experience. My wife left for work. It didn't notify me that she was leaving. 8 hours later, when she got back from work, the S4 Pro picked up her car, sent a notification, and the AI PTZ followed her car as it pulled in the garage. Same has been happening with human detection as well. My S3 rarely missed a human. Not only that, if it "recognized" who the human was (it stores this logic on the S380 Homebase) it would send a notification of who the human was along with a detection. It wasn't perfect, often saying stranger was detected, but if it got a good look at your face, it never failed to ID a saved person. The S4 doesn't do it. Part of the time it will see a person and track them, part of the time, it ignores the person. Even when it does see a person and starts tracking them, it cannot identify that person. I purposely stood in front of the camera, looking directly at it and let it follow me on numerous occasions. I got a 0% success rate at identification and a roughly 50% success rate at tracking. NIGHT PERFORMANCE Low light performance is average, at best. Unlike the S3 Pro, the S4 Pro does not have color night vision capability. Once you've had a camera with color night vision, it is hard to go back. Not only does the S4 lack color night vision, its night vision performance is spotty as well. Again, it has failed to report and track my vehicles on numerous occasions. One thing I do appreciate about the S4 Pro is that it has the ability to illuminate a pair of RGB LED's upon a detection. Users can set the camera to either use white LED's to light up the area, or have them flash red/blue. That alone is a great deterrent, but it suffers from the camera's inability to consistently identify motion and objects. WI-FI PERFORMANCE Sadly, this is another area that the S4 falls short. Unlike my S3, the S4 would not maintain a stable Wi-Fi connection to my existing mesh network. Thinking this was part of the issue with detection issues, I relocated an access point closer to the S4. Literally just a few feet away now and pumping out a strong signal. Unfortunately, it has done nothing to improve the S4's performance. It maintains a consistent and strong connection to the S4, it just hasn't improved the S4's reliability. CONCLUSION So far the S4 Pro has been an exercise in frustration. I had such high hopes for the S4 after my experience with the S3. Adjusting detection sensitivity, activity zones, Wi-Fi coverage, etc. nothing has worked to improve the S4's performance. Does the S4 work? Yes. It isn't defective. The problem is, it is unreliable with its current firmware. Part of the time it works. Part of the time it doesn't. Part of the time it tracks people and vehicles. Part of the time it ignores them. I have made every single adjustment to try and improve its abilities and nothing has worked reliably. As it stands in this iteration, I would not buy an S4 Pro. I literally just walked outside to get the mail. The S4 saw me walk out (I got a notification), but failed to track me, failed to send a notification, and failed to track my movement on the way back into the house. When the S4 works, it works great. It will follow people and cars and even zoom in on a person. The problem is it can't do it reliably. It's hit or miss. I'm guessing a roughly 50% success rate at this point in time. NOT RECOMMENDED
