Nice camera, no fees to pay and motion light is perfect for my use

Not happy - it doesn’t record all motions. Skips motions such as vehicles , humans … etc randomly. It was a bad decision to buy eufy security camera. Not 100% reliable in security perspective

I was impressed by the solid build quality and detail. The back of the camera that mounts against the electrical box has a plastic shield inside to protect the inside electronics from any potential future water leak. I have not seen this on competing brands. The mount and adjustment controls work well, give full travel and feel solid. Setup was easy. The floodlight cam has a plug connected to the wires via wire nuts so you can plug it in to get the app setup. This worked well and the app only took a few minutes to setup and customize. The app is easy to navigate and has all the usual features. I like that the LED on the camera can be turned off to hide that there is an active camera in use. The camera gives super clear pictures during daylight, at night with Infrared, and with the very bright floodlights that rally light up my 70’ deep back yard and beyond. The light intensity can be adjusted from super bright down to a very low setting to illuminate up close only. This might be useful for small yards with close neighbors, or if facing a street with traffic. The live and recorded video is very clear. There is some distortion due to the 150 degree wide field of view which is normal and expected of such a wide angle. But no problem making out details on anything from birds to people. The detail is so good you can identify the type of bird on a branch 60’ out. The floodlight cam has 4GB of RAM for video storage. I thought this was a good amount as not much happens out back. But I was wrong. I was surprised by how many animals travel through my yard at night; cats, dogs, deer, foxes. It’s enough for a week in my quiet yard. More RAM would be better, RAM is cheap. But selling a forever cloud subscription for recurring revenue seems more the priority. There are options to decrease the sensitivity to limit what’s recorded and you can set two areas to record. I tried this, but the cam still gets triggered to record bushes moving with the wind, even though they are not included in the recorded areas I setup with minimum sensitivity. This resulted in many false alert notifications, which I had to turn off. It’s also a waste of time to review and delete them. The only saving grace is there is an icon when a person is detected in the recording which help cut the review time down. Hopefully a software update will improve this at some point. The local RAM does provide for very quick video review. There is some risk having the RAM outside in the elements where it could be vandalized or stolen. I would have preferred to save the video to a UNC path on a USB drive hanging off my router, or to an inside hub. You can get a cloud subscription, but there is a forever monthly fee for that. Overall the quality of the hardware is good, five stars for that. However no matter what I tried, a bush under the camera swaying in the wind keep triggering the camera to record and use up the limited storage space in this floodlight cam. 2 stars for the motion detection not working as well as it should. Overall 3 stars. I plan to try another brand soon hoping for fewer false alarms.
