Customers are saying

Customers admire the excellent video quality, ease of use, and impressive battery life of the Smart Wi-Fi Video Doorbell. Many also appreciate the straightforward installation process and the included storage options. However, some users find the motion detection unreliable and experience delays in notifications or app response. A few also commented on the doorbell's larger size compared to wired models.

Doorbell works great, the picture is clear and has a very good view. Was able to link it to my dot and it announces some one is at the door if I am in another room.

I'd been in the market for a video doorbell for a while now, but never been satisfied from what I'd seen available. There were always too many compromises. Required cloud service for accessing recordings, limited mounting and placement of doorbells, or low lifetime on battery powered units to name a few. The eufy smart wifi doorbell eliminates most of those problems and is all around a great product. in the box - you get the doorbell, the homebase 2, usb-A to micro-usb charging cable, homebase 2 power cable, mounting bracket (with angled bracket), quick start guide, doorbell release key, mounting stencil, mounting screws/hardware, and a few eufy security stickers. first impressions - The first thing I noticed was just how small both the doorbell itself and the homebase 2 were. the doorbell is maybe five inches by 2 inches while the homebase is roughly 3 inches square by five inches tall. The small size of the doorbell makes it very easy to mount, even right next to the door. This is one of the main things that prevented me from getting the more popular video doorbell, I can only mount the doorbell on left side of the door frame, and there's not a lot of space. No issues with this one. The homebase 2 is small enough to be tucked out of sight on an av shelf or side table, but looks good enough with its matte white finish to leave out visible somewhere. Overall nice. setup - Setup is pretty simple. Plug power and ethernet cables into the homebase 2, install the eufy security app on your mobile device of choice and follow the instructions from there. A mobile device is required to complete setup, which probably isn't an issue since we're talking smart home devices here, but that might matter to some people. In total setup takes about 20 minutes, 15 of which is dedicated to updating the firmware on the homebase 2 and doorbell. doorbell installation - installation was very easy in my case. I'm currently renting and didn't want to bother with screws or hardwiring the doorbell in for power (my old doorbell is on the wrong side of the door for that anyway), so I just grabbed some super strong double sided tape rated for outdoor use, affixed it to the doorbell mount and was good to go. In total it took me just a few minutes to get the doorbell installed. You will want to take the time to charge the doorbell up completely if you're not going to be using wired power, as they ship charged between 60-80%. Mine was around 50 and took approximately 2 and half hours to charge to full. performance - The doorbell This is my first video doorbell and I have to admit I'm impressed. I've seen a lot of videos of package thieves online and they always look grainy and low rez. That's not the case with this model. The resolution is 2560x1920, a 4:3 resolution that sounds kind of odd but gives you a very wide field of view wherever you place it. There's something going on with the software/hardware setup eufy has employed here because the video doesn't suffer from the typical fish-eye distortion you see on most competing doorbells. The video is crisp and un-distorted while still providing that super wide field of view. Video looks great in bright light, at night, even at night in the rain! There's an IR light on the front that illuminates the area for the night vision camera, looks great. The only problem I've encountered is that video quality isn't great when I have my porch light on. The porch light is basically 3 feet directly in front camera, and offset so that nothing obstructs it when people approach. This is by no means a deal breaker, but as is the case with most cameras - when a bright light is shone directly at it the eufy doorbell video looks very blown out and lacks detail. Again not a problem for me since I don't really turn my porch light on unless I'm expecting deliveries, but worth noting. Sound quality on the built in speaker and mic are fine, but not going to win any awards. It's perfectly audible even in high winds, but I didn't test it in the rain. Battery life so far seems impressive. After charging to full and being in use for nearly 24 hours the charge remains at 100%. Time will tell how long it lasts, but for now at least I'm optimistic. The homebase 2 The homebase 2 is a pretty neat little piece of tech. It's what sets this kit apart from most others on the market. It has 16gb of built in storage so that all of your recordings are stored locally, and apparently it does so with some fancy pants "military grade encryption" . What this means practically is that the homebase 2 sets up it's own private network with the doorbell which is highly unlikely to be compromised. It also means that if someone rips your doorbell off of the wall and runs off with it you'll have a recording of the person in question at hand stored safely on the homebase 2. I like this. The homebase 2 also acts as a doorbell if you want it to, with a few different chimes you can choose from. The app - So the app is where all of the features really come into play here. You can adjust video quality and length. You can watch a live feed of the camera whenever you want. You can choose from different encoders for your video to improve streaming performance, set notification preferences, customize sensitivity, set active zones to prevent the doorbell from triggering whenever someone walks by on the sidewalk ... and just so much other stuff. The app also ties everything together with other eufy smart devices so you can easily add security cameras, flood lights, and anything else you'd like. Pretty neat. The app is easy to use and is mostly intuitive but there are some options that are poorly explained. Playing around with each setting and trying to figure out what each one does takes a bit of time. The app also has built in customer support chat which I have used 3 times since I first setup the system. This is incredibly useful, and though I had to wait in a queue for a few minutes 2 of the 3 times, my questions were answered quickly and clearly. This is a really nice touch. cons - Basically the only things I have to complain about have to do with a lack of clarity when it comes to some features. For example it's not clear how you can enable 2-way communications between your smart device and the doorbell. By default the doorbell is set to send a notification to the app that displays a screenshot of the event. Tapping on the notification opens the app directly to the recording of the event, but it's not live. You can change this behavior in the app to show a live feed when you click the notification, and then a small mic button appears on the bottom of the screen which allows you to talk to whomever is at your door. Weird that it's not enabled by default, but I guess it probably conserves battery that way? I don't know, it feels like a series of extra steps have to be taken to get the doorbell running the you'd expect it to. Whatever ... The homebase 2 is probably the most frustrating aspect in terms of things being unclear. The kit is advertised as having wifi connectivity, but you wouldn't know it if you were looking at the documentation. The homebase 2 requires an ethernet connection to set up. Once setup is complete you open the app, select options for homebase 2, connection, wifi, then select your network and enter credentials. I'm surprised that it doesn't ask you if you'd like to set up wifi as default, and annoyed by it. Initial testing of the doorbell video quality was disappointing because the homebase 2 was struggling to maintain the feed when I moved the doorbell to the other side of the house. And that's the thing, my router is on the other side of the house from my front door. Once wifi is enabled I placed the homebase 2 in the front room and it has no issues connecting and maintaining a stream. Just a weird design choice. 16gb of local storage sounds great in theory, and it is! But actually moving those files off of the homebase 2 is both inconvenient and slow. It takes several minutes to download a 38 second clip from the homebase 2 to my phone. Oh yeah get used to saving these things to your phone because there's currently no way to save them directly to your pc or mac. That's garbage. I hope eufy updates the homebase 2 with a web interface so I access it on my local network, because the only alternative is to install a nas which this kit inexplicably supports. I guess eufy are expecting you to be running a complete security system with their gear or something? I don't know. Nas support is cool, but I'm not spending the money on that just for doorbell recordings. Again, weird. Pros - I wanted to end this on a positive note since I'm in love with this doorbell, so here goes. - fantastic video quality in (almost) all lighting conditions - onboard storage means you never have to pay for cloud storage services - installation is simple and supports whatever configuration you're looking for - battery life seems great - 2 way communication is clear - phone notification sends you a thumbnail of whoever is at your door - no need to click through or open the app to see what's up - app is highly customizable to get your system working exactly as you'd like - person/face detection is fantastic - doesn't trigger recordings from pets/vehicles/stuff blowing in the wind - you can turn off the eufy watermark Overall I really like the eufy smart wifi doorbell with homebase 2. I feel like I'm only using about 10% of its capabilities, but I'm really loving using it. Being able to see at a glance what's going on out front, whether I'm home or not, to let someone know how far out I am, or to give a delivery person instructions - it's all great. The system just works really well.

pros: 1) No additional monthly fee for web storage, 2) Easy to specify range of view. cons: 1) Installation instructions are WRONG and it cost me a lot of time. Even if you plan on hardwiring, you need to pair as wireless first BEFORE MOUNTING. 2) Cold weather seems to hurt it's nighttime sensitivity,---we had a package delivered in these conditions with no image 3) lag time is too long...we had a driver pull up, deliver a package and drive away. The camera caught his back as he got back in the mail truck and drove away. All-in-all pretty good

Very good quality resolution. Latency on the camera stream isn't to bad in the app, better than the Arlo. App is easier to use in my opinion than others such as Alro, even though they are similar. The wireless signal from the base station isn't to impressive. I have both of my cameras about 30 feet from the base and its kinda stretching it. Battery gets eaten up when there is alot of motion but setting up the zones helped. Overall a good product for the price point and it fits my needs for a wireless doorbell solution.
