Read this if you are interested in 2 way audio
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Camera is great, audio quality and responsiveness (meaning that when opening the app and getting to the video, the app did that pretty quickly) is far better than the Ring I was trying to replace (the Ring in question takes about 15 to 30 seconds to pull up on my phone, be it on wifi or LTE, and of ALL the HA devices I have, this is the only one that takes that long to respond). The fact that it works both with its own battery and wired allowed me to test it before actually making any more holes on the walls. Why the 1 star? Here you have: - Two Way Audio: This Eufy doorbell either records ONLY one side of a conversation (the outside audio) in a doorbell interaction. Or it just stops recording altogether when you activate the 2 way audio option (and I mean completely, there was no more video or audio in the clips; the clips were cut right after I activated the 2 way audio). This has even been mentioned by Youtuber extraordinaire LifeHackster in his review of these doorbells. Unfortunately for me, I only found it after I bought the doorbell, but fortunately I am still within return window, so it is going back. - Amazon Echo: This may not be a great deterrent for many people, but for what it is worth, the Eufy cameras are listed in Amazon Echo app as "motion sensors" which means that even though "live view" is available, it cannot work because it is a motion sensor in the device type (but it appears under cameras... A mess, I know, but I am just describing what I found). You could create a routine to have the Echo pull up the video from the doorbell and show it on the Echo device. Problem with that is that it only shows the video, it does not allow you to talk through the device to whoever is at your door. Additionally, because it is a "routine", it takes about 15 to 30 seconds to have the video actually visible on the device, by which time anyone who is at your door has already left or taken your packages. - Also may not be a great deterrent for many people, but the app has no possibility of interaction with any other smarthome system like Smartthings or even with something like IFTTT, so the ability to create more fine tuned automations is very limited. If you are using it ONLY to see who is at your door (aka a glorified peep hole), then yeah, go for it, there are no monthly fees and the video quality is nice. But if you want it for what it is supposed to be or for what it is advertised as, a “smart doorbell”, unfortunately this is not it.

eufy security- smart Wi-Fi doorbell 2K

Horrible from day one
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This has been horrible from day one. First detection is awful. If you put on all objects you will get every car passing by but then it'll miss everyone going to your door or if it catches them you'll get them walking away. If you turn on just human it will miss a good portion of the people. I've sat in front of the thing waving my hands and it'll take a good 3 to 5 seconds to register me if it picks me up at all. I called customer service and they said to adjust the target area. I've tried everything, and every sensitivity number, and going down to human it gets rid of the car driving by notification but still is slow to register. Trust me, I know bc I have another genetic camera that detects everything properly so I see people on that but Eufy misses it all the time. When I called customer service they said it was "still a work in progress." I'm sorry, but don't sell this for $160 for an alpha work in progress but that seems to be the norm nowadays. Second, battery is not 180 days. Maybe if you turn EVERYTHING off. I got 12 the first charge and like 25 the watching. I wouldn't mind as much of the detection worked, but if doesn't. Whenever someone rings, by time you get a notification, it opens the app and connects you, it's like 10 to 20 second later and the voice is delayed or doesn't even go through. That's not practical. Last, about 30 days out the wifi disconnects regularly. I've tried to reconnect it and reset but nothing. My router is 6 ft from the doorbell and about 20 ft from the plug in base and says the connection is great when I first connect. Avoid like the plague. Hopefully I can try to get best buy to take it back despite being outside of 15 days or Eufy to refund me despite being like 5 days outside of their 30 day guarantee, but this has been a junk heap since day one.

False alarms

Anyway this camera sets off so many different false alarms that I ended up turning off my notifications. Would not recommend. You also have to jump some wires in your doorbell box. Other brands do not ask you to do this. Mine randomly went dead and reset one day which caused me to find a different brand for the doorbell. As they say GLHF

- Set up an activity zone to limit the area that you want the movement to be picked up. Go to the doorbell settings in the Eufy Security APP- Motion Detection- Activity Zone.
- Please also set it to human only and the sensitivity level to the lowest in the Motion Detection to reduce the motion detection.

Read this if audio recording is important to you.

The reviews about this were great and YT videos were mostly complimentary. With the help of Black Friday prices I took the Eufy doorbell home and even though it is wired, turns out it is also battery powered, which was great because it allowed me to test it before mounting on the wall. Video quality, reaction time, responsiveness (especially compared to Ring's HORRIBLE response time), audio clarity (also a big step up from Ring's garbled mess) all these were awesome. Setting it up with my wifi was good and relatively quick. I learned that Amazon Echo considers all Eufy cameras, including this one, as "motion detectors", which is why it does not actually support live view on Echo Show or Spot. I also learned that you can create a routine that can show the image of the video, but will not allow you to talk through the Echo Show... and even in spite of all this, the clarity and great responsiveness were still winning in my book... until I found what to me is a fatal flaw: Eufy doorbells either only record the "outside" part of the conversation, or stop recording altogether when you activate the audio, which what happened to me with this camera. That is a HUGE flaw, way too serious to just let go, especially if you by any chance you were to need the video WITH AUDIO for any legal or police related purposes. A smart doorbell has one job to do and this one is excellent... at doing very well only half of it. Back to the store it goes.

Nice but useless in the end

I tried the connect to a eufy member but it took about one hour to even chat with them

Could you please enable HotSpot on your phone and make the Homebase connect to your hotspot to see if it works? Steps:side menu>my devices>wifi connection>change wifi
If yes, the issue should be related to your wifi settings. Please try the following steps to see if the issue will be resolved quickly.
-Make sure there are no obstacles around HomeBase and make the Homebase closer to the router to see whether it helps.
-In theory, the HomeBase can be 50ft from the WI-Fi router. The actual range will vary depending on a number of factors such as the thickness of walls, obstacles inside the house, and the location of the router.
-Test in the following website to see whether it is because of the slow speed of the WiFi.

-Reboot the router to see whether the problem still exists.
-Try to temporarily disable the firewall setting on your router to see whether the Homebase can connect to WiFi. If so, please check your firewall setting to see if there are any special restrictions for the device. You can check the firewall setting on your router's official website.Please make sure these ports are allowed:
TCP:80, 443
UDP:0-65535

Worked for One Year
