High Quality Surveillance without many drawbacks
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The eufy Security - SoloCam S220 kit does not sacrifice any quality when it comes to providing you with the safety and security needed to monitor your property. To start the 2K resolution both at night and during the day does not leave any detail pixelated. You are able to clearly get shots of people's faces and license plates if need be. Pairing that with the Artificial intelligence aspect quickly within the Eufy app you can tap on someone's face and the API can associate whatever clips that person has been captured in. The solar aspect of the camera is perhaps the only drawback. The panel is quite finicky when it comes to how it needs exposure to sunlight and even the installation guide warns you of this. I would say the mount included also makes it a bit more difficult to be able to set the camera on an angle you need while also ensuring exposure to the sun without any part of that solar panel being blocked. On the plus side the camera does not drain battery too quickly so even if it doesn't get the sun exposure it needs you won't be recharging it daily. If you are trying to mount this on a porch or anything with an Eve, don't even try. It will not work. If just one portion of that solar panel is obstructed you will not get a charge generated. The camera is fantastic. The app and monitoring is fantastic. However be very much aware that if you cannot find a location to mount this camera you will be purchasing a solar device that truly cannot do what it is designed to do. You only secondary option would be to run a USB charging cable to the camera which then opens the port up to water damage.

Essentially a trail camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The eufy Security - SoloCam S220 - is essentially a trail camera. I'm serious. I have used a decent amount of cameras from all sorts of brands, both name brand and knock off. I have used PC based security software and cloud based storage. The SoloCam fits in the cloud based, but stores the cloud in your house. Depending on your usage, this is just fine. If you just want something to record motion, people, cars etc in an alleyway, this device works well for you. If you want to stream it towards a server, I would suggest looking for something designed with that in mind. For my use, I want to monitor around the house while I work from home. I want to see what the kids are doing while I am tied to my desk. They are all old enough to be out there on their own, but it is nice to be able to lay eyes on them. It is also good for security. Last summer, a 5 year old scaled my fence around the pool, boosted himself up over the railing and went for a dip. Because of my setup, I was too him before he touched bottom. Lets get to the nitty gritty of these eufy cameras. They are nice and durable, they should hold up great to the elements. However, you can only do live continuous streaming if they are plugged in full time. The battery will not last the day doing rtsp streaming. In event only mode, you only get clips of the event that triggered the camera. This works, unless you want to monitor as well. However, you can't have the best of both worlds. The events do not trigger when you have it set for continuous stream. The Homebase says it is a continuous recording and I do have a 120GB drive in there, but I don't have any video files. If you are looking for a set it and forget it solution, this will work well. If you want to monitor as well, there are far better options under $50 that work better.

Eufy S220
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had previously used Arlo for my security camera but now they are requiring a monthly plan. I decided to go with Eufy and I could not be happier. The solar panel keeps the battery charged even though one of mine is not in direct sunlight. They were easy to setup. So far, so good.
