With about three weeks of use, the mechanism to turn the brush roller on and off broke, which made the brush inoperable. I know they don't make them like they used to, but seriously, three weeks? Best Buy would not do anything for us because it had been more than 15 days and I didn’t purchase the protection plan so I was directed to deal with Eureka. The only option Eureka gave me was to bring it to a licensed repair shop with the purchase receipt, which was not a particularly practical solution for me (somewhat ironically, there used to be a repair shop across the street from us, but like most vacuum repair places it vanished). I figured out how to jimmy rig the button so it is working now, but I have had to take it a part twice to futz with it and it’s only two months old now. It’s a pain and I expected more for the dollar, but maybe I should not have. Things about it I like: - The pet brush attachment works great on removing cat hair from upholstery. - The telescoping hose is slick - When it works, I like that I can turn the brush roller on and off. Things I don’t like: - It broke with little wear. - The attachments fall off very easily. - It’s awkward to carry since the only handle is at the top.

    Not if you have pets

The suction on this unit is good, and we were happy with it initially. However, after only 2 months of use, the beater brush has destroyed itself due to its inability to deal with pet hair. Both bearings, and the plastic housings in which they ride, are completely burnt. The belt guides are shot. All due to pet hair, with less than 2 months of use. Our old unit was a Hoover, and lasted 3 years in the same environment.

    some good, mostly bad...

Had for 2 weeks, and returned it. Initially, it worked completely right. Love the retractable chord holder. But the holder locations for tools were insufficiently capable of keeping the extensions/brushes on the vacuum. Eventually the "pedal" to operate the on/off function of the brush roller would not engage the roller. Had to take it apart twice in order to repair it. Wasn't a good solution. Bought a Shark Lift Away instead for the same price, which has a switch controlled brush motor, separate from the suction motor.
